I work in a bookstore, and I remember coming across that name as an author
in our Young Adult section. I made it a point to look up and print out all
Alice Childress books still in print, and, of course, promptly forgot. But
I'll try on Monday (that would be, of course, after I see them TWICE this
weekend. Yes, you have my permission to be jealous).
Who was it that was talking about something being different on the tape and
teh CD? What's the difference?

Heya,
Just a reminder to play Spot The Opus at the upcoming Ben Folds Five
concerts at Tuxedo Junction and Pearl Street. I'll be the tall guy with the
hat and the tie, and I have a tradition of giving away FREE silly putty to
the first person who can identify me. It's fun, and it's free. Runners-up
receive free hugs, or, in the case of the recent TMBG concert, my signature
on their forehead. So yell "Opus!" at me and I'll run your way.

PS. Psychology majors will note this is just a ploy to gain attention
becuase my mother never loved me. Yay!

To all fellow BFF lovers on AOL,
The world's crappiest online service is holding it's first Online Music
Awards. What a shock it would be if a grass roots BFF campaign got the Ben
Folds Five nominated. They've already had three votes in the Best New
Artist-Pop/Rock category (as opposed to Blues Traveler who got about 250).
Hit keyword OMA to register your vote. Let's band together and show our
support.
See you all at the next Philly show,

Subject: BF5 live performances?
Does anyone have any live recordings of BF5? Does the band mind live
recordings? I would love to have a copy of "The Breakup Song"--at least,
that's what Ben called it at the Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill last week.
It's the song that has the refrain, "I want my money back."
Anyway, in a grunge-smitten music world, BF5 has renewed my faith in new
music by new artists.
Thanks, everybody!

I was at both shows....Blew the rooms away!
"Song for The Dumped" and "Video Killed the Radio Star" were killer.
In Hoboken, BFF took a request from the audience and did a Chapel Hill
version of "Freebird".
It is great to know that there are others out there that can appreciate GREAT
music. For those BFF fans in the metro NY area, we have got to get the band
some airplay!
This is a great mailing list....and does anybody have any shows on tape that
I can get
a copy of...

[Better late than never: Scott Brodeur, one-half of "Scotts on Sound"
and webmaster of New Jersey Online (http://www.nj.com) told me there's
info on BFF on their Maxwell's page, so it's now linked on the Tour Dates
page. Also, since Ticketmaster is also handling ticketing for the
Troubador show in LA, their BFF page is linked to that entry as well as
the Seventh House (Pontiac) entry. As far as a DC date, I think you're
out of luck on this part of the tour, though I bet they'll be back.
