 Subject: First BF5 experience

Well, i borrowed a CMJ disc from last Sept. off a friend, and on it
is "Underground". This was the first time I had ever heard BF5 and I didnt
know what to expect really, just that all you people love them, and lotsa
other people like them, and that my friend said, "Yeah, not my cup of tea,
but you'd prolly like them." I listened to the track....roughly 20 times
last night. I love it I Love it I love it I love it. I've been a member of
this list for a while, and now I know what you all are raving about. I cant
wait to get my hands on the album, for this is truly an awesome band (I
didnt have to tell you all that though.) Anyways, I love the track, and I
was wondering how "Underground" compares with the rest of the album. I've
heard that it's not the best song, but it's the only one I've heard, so I'm
wondering what to expect from the album.

Later folks!

i just found out today that ben folds five is playing in austin on sunday,
feb. 11 at the electric lounge, which is a truly great, small club. they
played there in october and there were, i'd say, fewer than 50 people
there. i wonder what it'll be like this time. 3 lb thrill is opening. does
anyone know if they play any uncle green tunes or is it all new stuff?

The best radio station in Cleveland (WMMS) had BF5 on the high
five. The high five is the most played and requested songs of the day.
BF5 was #4 with "Underground". Your the best!

Given the fact that the BF5 disc hasn't left my changer for about a
month, one could probably imagine my excitement when I found out (thru
the digest!) that there is indeed some live schtuff goin' around. I have
a relatively extensive collection of shows from other bands, and would
love to trade tapes w/ anyone who's got some BF5 tapes. Please get in
touch if you're interested. Thanx. PK

Anyone know if the Chicago show is an "all-ages" show, and if so, how I can
get tickets? I just heard the group, they kick, and I'm going to see the
show if I can.

As a Baltimoron, I would like to say one thing to Cleveland. We
may have gotten the Browns, but you're getting Ben Folds.
  Wanna trade??

I wonder why they skipped our area. It's really all kinda strange.
Well, add me to the Balt./DC rally.

Hey,
I hope that this is going where it should. Just to tell you all that I
read in the last issue (#22) that there's no DC date. Thats real sucky. I
just got into BFF like THIS WEEK, and already, they are climbing high on
my fav. band list. Thats saying much cause at my school here, GWU! I am
known as the embodiment of Rock N Roll (but of course there are people
who are the embodiment of Sex and Drugs, couldn't leave them out!). Just
wanted to say that I love Underground (ok I give to the popular song) and
am so glad that someone's playing it... as i will too!

Dear Sir,
My name is a one crazy Shawn J. Clark, and I've been on to the BF5 for
over a little more than than a month now. My friend (who incidentally is
also on your mailing list), and I discovered the quintillious trio before
the holidays. We both loved the disc after a few minutes of 'Big brother
got the keys and I got Jackson Cannery' and references to sleeping with
Axl look-a-likes. Therefore, as I am sure you may have already figured
out, I humbly ask to be added to this mailing list of obviously highly
intelligent and musically inclined group of homo sapiens.
Thank you and long live the FIVE!

                                     Sincerely,
                                        Shawn J. Clark

==============================================================================

[tez: It's amazing how many people mention Ben Folds Five and the remains
of Uncle Tupelo in the same breath. And didn't we all get hooked in by
H&TBF at first, only to get totally sick of them? It amazes me that they
still rank in the top 10 or so of record sales week after week, but pop
radio has the tendency to keep playing songs long after they've worn out
their welcome.

jen: thanks for the Austin update. I've added it to the tourdates page.
