sounds like they've mixed up the songs. i heard them do retarded at a raleigh
show, it was loud, fast and funny as hell when they intro'd it saying ben and
robert were having phone sex :o
anyway...so what's with this trinity farm gig in raleigh mar.30???
at the fairgrounds??what's up with that...any more info??
oh, and the "tom and mary" song...for the benefit of tom and mary/before our
guests arrive/if they haven't found out already/it's gonna blow their minds/
great song, they used to do it live a lot...didn't do it when they started
this tour, so if this is the first hearing of bff live for you guys, you may
 miss the song :(
and as much as i love ellen degeneres, i think Mr. Wrong will be a renter.

This one was a little tougher. If anyone can help with the names in the
2nd verse, Tamara Easter and Rhonda Snow, I'd appreciate it. I'm not
 to sure about them. -JRP

 Stephens Last Night
 ---------------------
 Everyone gather round now
 Sing us a song
Just in case in the morning
 It happens he's gone
For two weeks and seven days
 Our fair foriegn friend
I have this feelin' I might never see Stephen again

 Thought he was gone
And now he's come back again
 Last week it was funny
 Now the joke's wearing thin

 Everyone knows now
That every night out will be Stephens last night

 He's done everyone here
 Cept Tamara Easter
 Who later revealed
 Her innermost secrets
 Rhonda Snow told us stories
 Bout Linda McArthy
 Lost points with the ladies
For sayin' he couldn't love a woman with
 Cellulite

 Thought he was gone
 Now he's come back again
 Last week it was funny
 Now the joke's wearing thin

 Everyone knows now
That every night out will be Stephens last night

 We were talkin' bout somethin'
It semms like it was funny
 And Stephen got coy
And I think Stephen got mad
 Maybe he wasn't mad
 Well he felt very strange
 In the morning
 But the moment was past
 And forgotten about

 Thought he was gone
 Now he's come back again
 Last week it was funny
 Now the joke's wearing thin

 Everyone knows now
That every night out will be Stephens last night in town

 Hi all.

Only two days and I am digging this list real good. It's good to be
 among fans.

I like the story about singing 'fuck' when Ben didn't. That sounds like
 it woulda been good.

Hey, anybody have bootlegs? I am dying for one. I have tons of groups
to trade (but no BF5), so if youwant to trade, drop me a line at
 japhy@ix.netcom.com

 thanks!

Heya. I just got a CD today from a CD club called Grooves, which I got
merely because it has Ben Folds Five on it. True, it's only Philosophy, but
they mentioned BF5 in the ad (which was in publications I respect greatly
like the New York Times Book Review and Utne Reader). The idea is to
present really good, mostly unknown music. I haven't had a chance to listen
to it, yet, but there's a good chance this'll help the boys get a few more
 listeners.

 hello,

some guy in the past digest mentioned how bf5 sounds exactly the same
live then they do on the album. there is a good reason for that, on
the album they are not like todays rockers where they have
6666666600000000 tracks to record off of. they do most of their
songs on the album live in the studio. i almost saw bff at a club
last month but me and a friend missed the train. well i guess ill
have see them some other time. take it easy

By the way, an Austin station called 101-X plays "Underground" on occasion.
I'm afraid I don't know their call letters or URL... I'll find out and let
 you know if you like.

Ben Folds Five is my favorite band. I want to run their fan club! Any idea
about how I might go about doing that? I know I don't need anyone's
permission to do it "unofficially", but I'd rather do it "officially". I
gave Ben Folds a model (ceramic) piano at his recent show in Austin, so maybe
that was the only bribe he needed. :-)

 Thanks, /.MBJ.\

how many times have you seen them??? i swear i've seen them a few *dozen*
times and not once was i denied a little variety in the stage show!
between jazzy in/outros, poetry and stories, off the wall humor and stupid
human tricks, not to mention the variety of the vocals/piano--no two shows
are ever the same. at the last show i saw, to kick off this tour, ben did
a jazzy vocal thing during underground. it's hard to describe, but
imagine that r&b-type monotonous stressing of "EVeryBOdy's HAppy
UNderGROUND" for just one line in the middle of the song--it was so
fuckin' cool, i just had to close my eyes and smile.

i don't have eMpTyV, so let me ask...is there a part in the video where
someone is jumping off the balcony of a club??? if so---that's ben, and
he hurt his ankle doing it...i saw him limping around chapel hill when
they were off tour for a while, but i also saw him play in winston salem.
he didn't climb up on the piano :( ,he even walked onstage with a cane :o

To my fellow BF5 fans who are also into Jellyfish, I highly recommend the
"Socrates, Pathos and Plato" CD recently released onthe underground
Balboa label. It's a soundboard recording and Jellyfish's performance is
first-rate. ACD Mail Order in NY was where I got my copy. They take plastic
and their phone number is (212) 582-6608. Oh, and the proprietor, Jake, is
keeping an eye out for BF5 boots (someday a term in foot apparel?) for me.
