Anybody in Austin wanna get together to sing BF5 songs? I can play 'em all.
I'm tired of being the only local fan I know! Call me at 467-8371 or email
 me at "Vegetarian@eWorld.com"

No, actually, I was at the show. I guess I didn't make that clear. I
couldn't stick around and schmooze because the friend I was with really
wanted to go home. I got to talk to Ben briefly BEFORE the show, and that's
when I presented him with a small model (ceramic) piano. I used that piano
to collect tips when I played in a restaurant when I was 16, twelve years
 ago.

I asked Ben if I could play a song before he started, so that I could say
that I "opened" for Ben Folds Five. He asked his tour manager, and the tour
manager said No. :-( I'm gonna try my luck again when they play here for
SXSW. I wrote a song for them, so maybe that's enough for their tour manager
to let a dedicated fan bestow his gratitude via song? :-)

 >Also, I see the list above still has the SXSW show on it. I had heard that
it was cancelled. Can someone in Austin try to verify the situation?

I just talked to Scholz Garden here in Austin (512-477-4171), and they said
that they "think" that BF5 is still on for SXSW, but that I'd have to talk to
the SXSW folks. So I called SXSW (479-7979), and they said that as of 2/27,
he was still scheduled. I don't know where the cancellation rumor came from.

 hello,

i recently read a fan heard of bff coming live in concert. well from
past shows live in concert is a cheezy late late nite thing that
usually plays country....BUT every so often they have cool bands and
performers. i can recall in sept. they had mike watt with ed vedder
and dave grohl when they were on tour together. i also saw jeff
buckley on. if you choose to watch it, its on at like 2 in the
morning here in n.y. i pray that bff is on. take it easy people,
 brian

Hey. I picked up a Minnesota magazine called CAKE and there is a nice
picture on Ben Folds Five in there...no article though. It's their 5th
anniversary issue and there are a ton of top 5 lists in there, nothing from
them though, just a list of deviant sexual positions from the Archers of
Loaf. Speaking of which, is Ben playing piano AND drums on the lead singer
of Archers solo album? Just something I heard...

Actually, I think that The Song on Mr. Wrong is The Song For the Dumped, and
Retarded is on the soundtrack for The Truth About Cats And Dogs.

Hi oeonline, please put me on the Ben Folds Five electronic mailing list.

And if you know whether or not they'll be playing in Seattle on March
9th, please let me know. Ticketmaster tells me they don't know about
the show as of yesterday... Very disturbing! Please make sure that
I'm on the snail-mailing list as well (if it will get me more info
about the band than the email list), as I didn't receive a note about
 the alleged Mar. 9 performance.

Thanks much! Excited to hear they're coming to town! - Kevin

[Kevin: Welcome to the list... in the last issue Caroline Records
updated us with the latest gig listing, and Seattle (Moe's) was on for the
9th. Perhaps a phone call to the club would bring the "real" word, and you
might also watch Ticketmaster's website (http://www.ticketmaster.com).
And in my experience you'll find the latest up-to-date info on the band
right here. I've only gotten one mailing from the band and nothing from
Caroline (on BFF, anyway -- got a nice Idaho postcard the other day,
 though). -fjm]

 Hiya,

The correct address for the Ben Fold's Five article in the Austin
 Chronicle is
 http://www.auschron.com/issues/vol15/issue23/music.roadkill.html

They put the current issue into an archive, so the address changed ...

Just thought you'd like to know ...

 Mary Beth Kurz

[Thanks, Mary Beth. I've updated the interviews/reviews page with the
new url, and have added one for an article from Buzzard Bone that Paul
 Teeple sent along. -fjm]
