YES!!! I'm a Longhorn since birth, but anything for BF5!! (For those of yall
that are confused, Longhorns and aggies are longtime Texas rivals)

Does anybody know....When does the Summer B? single come out??

Does anybody know or have any way of getting information on the sales of
the debut CD by Ben Folds Five whether it be American or International sales
numbers? I am real curious to know just how many people have bought this CD!

 Thanks,

  Dear Frank
No! I made mistakes. One dollar is afout 100 yen. So for example,
the ticket is 60 dollars, not 600 dollars . You should be amazed reading
   that.

And I think Ben Folds Five LP are made in U.K..

June 11 at Club Gotham in Cincinnati.

Any other Cinci fans on here? Anybody know if Club Gotham has any higher
ceiling over the stage than Top Cat's did?

(Ben had to belly-crawl over the piano to get out for the couple of songs he
played on something that sort of jogs my memory is known as a 'concertina'
but I know that's the wrong name... an octave and a half keyboard with an air
 tube)

Is it going to be worth cramming my aging you-know-what in this place? I'm
sorry, I guess I'm not as rabid as some, the Top Cat's show was great but I'm
spoiled by sitting on my futon in front of the computer listening to the
 disc...

Yes, Bus Stop is available on a national basis.
Probably the best shot would be to order them through Tower (we have 3
 cd's)
 Or just contact us-

 Subject: BF5: Uncle Walter video

Well, the Uncle Walter video was certainly better than the Underground video
(which had NOTHING to do with the song's topic). But the image evoked by the
Uncle Walter song is of an old guy who's ANNOYING and delusional -- whereas
the video is about an old guy who's mean and FEARSOME.

Also, Frank's right: The ONE image I was really hoping to see was "a fleet
of battleships and one reclining chair headed north on the Arrrrabian sea."

Since Uncle Walter is the funniest song on the album (as well as the most
narrative-type and most descriptive), it had the most potential to be a great
video. As such, in that sense it's even more disappointing than the
 "Underground" video.

The one good thing about the UW video for me is that the boys rode bicycles
in it. I'm going to start doing a radio show about bicycling this summer, so
this may be the only hook I need to get them to be legitimate interview
material for the show. Maybe a tenuous tie-in, but a tie-in nonetheless. :-)

first off, just wanna say hey to everyone...nice to know there's such a
following for such a great band!!

okie, someone said that Julianne sounded punk..that bothered me....in my
opinion there's nothing punk about it...its 100% pure POWER POP!!!
that's all the entire album is....power pop at its finest.

a friend of mine caught BF5 at their last Charlotte, NC show a month or 2
ago....(I found out 'bout the show after it went down or else I would
have tried to have gone)....she said they opened w/ Liz Phair's
Chopsticks and closed w/ some Archers of Loaf song....that just proves
that BF5 is the coolest.....not only do they play and write unbelievable
music and know how to rock'n'roll on their own, they have the balls to
play covers of other cool ppl....I guess the whole BF5/Archers thing has
something to do w/ Chapel Hill :)
as I jump from subject to subject here, someone on antoher mailing list
that I'm on...note that this person is in California...refered to Chapel
Hill, NC as the Indie rock capital of the world...it is so great that the
East Coast is finally getting attention. look at all the Chapel Hill
bands that've signed record deals lately.....BF5 (of course)...well,
maybe Caroline isn't major, but they're definately getting attention,
Southern culture, June, Archers, Squirell Nut Zippers...
anyway, I'll stop babbling 'bout various subjects now...c'ya

 Yo,

I work in a bookstore, and going through the poetry section the
other day, I noticed this title, which reminded me of The Ben Folds Five:
"Play The Piano Drunk Like a Percussion Instrument Until the Fingers Begin
to Bleed a Bit". It's a poetry book by Charles Bukowski, and the only
similarity is in the title, but I found it interesting. A little bit. Hey,
 I'm bored, gimmie a break.

I love the BFF CD, its one of my favorites. And although I have never seen
them live, I can't wait to. And this brings me to an idea that I have that
either everyone will love or hate:
Since we know BFF is destined for great things, lets do something that
will make us a part of BFF forever. Lets come up with and agree on a chant
or slogan that we can call out at BFF concerts. I don't know if there is one
already, but if not let us, the unofficial fan club, create it. If anybody
likes this idea post a response on the list. If its not a good idea, just
ignore this, I don't want to read a hundred messages on how bad my idea was.

 Subject: BF5: News from D-Tox

D-Tox returned my $5 today along with this note:

 - - -

We are sorry, but the BEN FOLDS FIVE "Jackson Cannery" single is currently
 out of print.

Yes, we have NO singles. Due to the fact that D-Tox Records did not
originally press the record, we are not sure if the single will be
re-pressed. [Well, I sure think the single is being repressed... :-) ] We
are doing all we can to make this possible, but we must first have blessings
from all involved parties. If something happens, you will be the first to
hear about it. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

However, while we have your attention, we have some other incestuous releases
 that may be of interest:

dtx-009 TOXIC POPSICLE "in my room" 7" single -- BFF bassist/vocalist Robert
Sledge's powerful, yet obscure rhythm/funk/pop quartet. A bit more abrasive
than BFF, but a swell slab to have. $4 ppd.

dtx-001 PYLORIC WAVES n.c. compilation -- 73 minutes of exclusive tracks from
the NC scene, including Toxic Popsicle, Geezer Lake, Slowchange Madagascar
(both Geezer and Slowchange collaborated along w/Ben on the Barry Black LP),
Superchunk, Polvo, Picasso Trigger, Camper Van Chadbourne (Eugene Chadbourne
w/members of CVB), Vanilla Trainwreck, Etc. CD $10ppd. Cass. $6 ppd.

dtx-012 GEEZER LAKE "feet in mud again" CD -- Debut full-length from NC
Neo-Romanticist avant-nerd ensemble. Three members played along w/Ben Folds
on the Barry Black project on Alias Records. Spin hailed them "Chapel Hill's
 best kept genius". $10 ppd.

dtx-019 GEEZER LAKE "hearts won't try this" CD - 2nd full-length from above
 rockers. $10ppd.

Send check or money order to: D-Tox, PO Box 5655, Greensboro NC 27435.
Canada add $1 per item. Overseas add $3 per order. Write for a complete
 catalogue.

Write to D-Tox with any questions, not to me. All I know is what's printed
 above.

 Oh wow! A BF5 list. This is so,like, totally cool. I've seen BF5 21
times and that's a lot! I've seen him up close too, Ben I mean. They
say if you type in capital letters it means your shouting but I don't
think so. WOW! Hey, I listened to the BF5 album. guess what. It's
good! Like, so, is anybody out there into Der Monkenpickle? They
kinda remind me of BF5 in that it's these five guys and they're real
funny. hahah! If you're ever in Kansas City you should check them out.
Are people mean to each other on this list becasue I don't like that
very much. But it's really cool too. You know. Well, let me know what
you think. This is, really. Okay, I'l stop. I'm totally going on and
 on. Clina

  >i'm desparate, nobody in arizona has heard of, much less likes bff.

Not true! While visiting a friend in Tucson (I'm from Seattle myself), we
went to see BF5 at Club Congress. I'd never heard of them; my friend had
heard them on a local alternative radio station (maybe affiliated with the
UA). We went to see them at Club Congress (which was PACKED) and of course I
loved them so much that I bought the CD and then went to the same show when
they came to Seattle. Interestingly, at the Tucson show Ben mentioned that
the previous night they'd played in Phoenix (crowd boos at this point) and
he kind of made fun of the Phoenix crowd, intimating that they were
 expecting more techno-style music.
