I've basically been a lurker of the list. But what the hey, I figured I'd add
 my 2 cents for once.

Fans of Jellyfish should check out the Greys. Has some relation of Jellyfish
and is a good pop record (named after the aliens of course).

2 70's folks that BFF remind me of are:
Todd Rundgren (Especially Runt)& Eric Carmen
And over on the Rust@ list (Neil Young) they say BFF will open for NY with
Jewel in North Carolina. Does anyone know if BFF is going to open anyore NY &
 CH shows.
Perfect BFF covers. Lets Pretend by the Raspberries; SO you are a star by the
Hudson Brothers and we gotta get you a woman by Todd Rudgren.
 Back to being a lurker
 Peace

I missed that night. I kept going outside and checking the weather, then
as I started to head to the Cradle, ice was falling fast. I might've tried
anyway, but I had gotten rear-ended that morning by a woman in 4WD on
leftover ice from earlier that week. So even though I live in Chapel Hill,
my last BF5 show was at the Exit In in Nashville last November--with
Fleming & John in the audience.

Hows about'Millionares and Millrats' from the song 'Jackson
Cannery' for the list name because BF5's fans come from all diffirent
places, backrounds, and musical tastes, but are brought together by the
band and this list. How's that for a run-on sentence!

Hi, I've been on the bandwagon since February (when a friend I was visiting
took me to hear them at Club Congress in Tucson, Arizona). I'm curious to
know if there are others on this list who live in Seattle. There were a lot
of people at that show at Moe's...and I assume they were all there for BF5
and not for Gus (blecch) or The Customers (double blecch; though let's not
 revive that old thread).

If you are a Seattle or Puget Sound-area BF5 fan, why don't you send me
e-mail (ronfe@microsoft.com) and I'll collect a list and then we can all go
out for a beer together before the show the next time the guys come to town.
Or keep each other apprised of BF5-like bands playing in the NW.

Has Ben Folds been good to you?

Subject: BFF: (sort of) Funny BNL Story...and BFF popularity

I've had Gordon since 1993, i like it. I heard a funny story when I got it,
 it went like this:

BNL, being a Canadian band, wanted to play their very fist live show in
Toronto. But the mayor-lady there wouldn't let the original concert go
through because she had buckled to censorship and thought the name might
offend some feminist somewhere. So the guys changed their band name to
something ridiculous (that I can't remember), and the rescheduled concert
went off without a hitch, and the mayor didn't realize that this band was
the very band who's concert she had blocked three days earlier! (this story
is VERY true [that's what I heard from 3 different people])

BFF is a lot more popular in Cleveland than most people realize, they sold
out the odeon when they played here, and unless you hit any local record
store as soon as their shipment comes in, the BFF self titled LP is about as
easy to find in the Cleveland area as a white whale is in lake erie.

has anybody else played the Mission: Impossible web adventure? I have the
past few days, and the Earthies just got my arming codes (even though I blew
them to hell with my rocket launcher/cane)!

BTW, the BNL song "Hello City" was written about Halifax, N.S., which
banned the group for the same reason as the mayor of Toronto did. -fjm]

Hate to continue this, but I couldn't resist.....

XTC's 'You're The Wish You Are I Had' off of _Big Express_. Piano,
harmonies, the whole nine yards. Of course, many wouldn't know
of the song, but who cares. It would be a *perfect* fit.

 Cheers,

I kinda like the idea of the Hello My Name is stickers, with gals being
"Alice," tho on second thought, why not Alice for everyone??

Also, if the band is sick of touring, they've every right to be. I'm sure
they have lives & the impression I got when I saw them back in March was that
they've been touring for months & months. I'm sure they're exhausted & could
use a rest. Not to sound too maternal (it's all fun-n-games until someone
loses an eye). Lastly, I wish they'd do the Providence show, too, 'cuz I'd
 like to see them again.

Hey Frank - if the "Alice" idea catches on, you could be off the hook!

Jellyfish were my ALL TIME FAVOURITE band (until I discovered BF5!).
I saw 'em live in Australia a couple of years back and on stage they
had Andy Sturmer - singing and playing drums (standing up no less!),
Roger Manning on Keyboards and glorious harmonies, and two other guys
I can never remember the names of on bass and guitar (and lovely
vocalising). Jellyfish (to me) sound a bit different to BF5 (because
of the instrumentation), but I think the vibe's the same. Jellyfish
are kinda much more produced and slicker but great pop songs and
great attitude. DEFINITELY worth buying. There are two albums -
Bellybutton and Spilt Milk. Sadly they are no more but the members
are all off doing other things. (for more info there's a link to
a jellyfish page via mine -
 http://www.jeack.com.au/~travesty/music.html
(I can't remember the url for the jellyfish page!).

 Hope that helps.

(ps. in reply to someone else I think they also name The Zombies
(Brilliant English band of the 60s) as an influence. Particularly
 Odyssey and Oracle.)

I'm notm sure who this message s going to but I just wanted to say thanks to
ben folds five for mixing it up a little....a the "alternative" rock started
to become main stream and that sucks. I don't have faith in alot of new
bands beacause they all sound the same.....you guys really rock though and
that makes for alot of good car rides.Theben folds five album was the only
thing I missed about my last girl friend I went out and bought it the day
after my ex chick took it back.. I missed you guys the last tiome you came
to boston, but it wont happin agasin.Come back.....Lollapalooza is going to
be too far away this year.....so come back.

               thanks again for the music.

Heard on the radio tonight that Ben Folds Five will be opening for the Neil
Young and Crazy Horse show Aug. 9 in Charlotte, N.C. ... If the bill wasn't
odd enough, BF5 is actually opening for Jewel who is opening for Neil.

Don't know anything about tickets yet, but don't think they've gone on
 sale yet.

I wonder how many tour dates they are doing with Neil. That would be a
 strange, but cool show.

Hope someone on this list finds this useful.
