The singer from Imperial Drag, Eric Dover, was the singer for Slash's
Snakepit and he was the lead guitarist on the Spilt Milk tour. Roger
Manning was the keyboardist for JF and he is the one in both Imperial Drag
and Moog Cookbook. Andy Sturmer is the singer from Jellyfish and he is
supposed to be working on a solo album. I posted this before, but nobody
responded, I have a lot of live/rare stuff from Jellyfish and some of the
offshoot bands. If anyone is interested in trading, please let me know.
BFF Content-
I am also on the Neil Young list serv and people have asked about the BFF,
I posted info and encouraged everyone to check them out. Hopefully they
will get some more fans.

Not to be anal or anything, but:
...Jellyfish were from the California Bay Area, not England.
...The lead singer (and drummer) of Jellyfish, Andy Sturmer, is not involoved
in Imperial Drag or The Moog Cookbook. Keyboardist Roger Manning is the guy.
Andy is currently producing bands in Japan and writing music for a children's
TV show. (Check out the Jellyfish home page for details.)
Jellyfish were a great band (and boy, could they pull it off live. Yoiks.).
And not only did they bring musical credibility and chops to the genre of
"bubblegum" pop, they did it on their own terms. Because they were all
grounded in jazz, they took a unique approach to "pop" music, much like
Joe Jackson, Squeeze, Elvis Costello, and, of course, BFF do. It's all about
approaching melody from a non-obvious angle. Zig when you should zag, but
somehow, the resolution feels better for the journey. Dig it...
Well, Lollapalooza in Dallas won't have the boys on board. Pfft. Oh well,
maybe they'll make it back to Austin before the city bursts into flames.
(Anybody got a 6 trillion BTU air conditioner for sale? Maybe I can get the
city council to fall for it...)

Hi Frank and everybody. Long time no see. Frank, sorry for late to
celebrate the 100th newsletters.
I'm surprised there are so many Jellyfish fan around here ( me too though.
I have a T-shirt). Their show is my #2 in my liftime best 10 shows. The #1
is... not to say.
I don't know when BFF's 2nd album will be released, but I think I should
stop listening to 1st album for a while. I want to listen to the 2nd album
very freshly, you know. I just want to keep my thirst.

Hey, I have that song on Rock over London tape. I really like it.
Also, if anybody has not seen that Beavis and Butthead episode, check it
out--it's really funny. Yes, I do watch the show as often as possible, and I
think that they are hilarious, because they are so stupid. And yes, I am
part of the future of this country.

I don't know what I was thinking. I knew that Jellyfish was from sanfran,
but for some reason, I put that they were a British band. I think that I
meant a British (sounding) band, such as the Dandy Warhols and such. I

NAH! The demo's are pretty much the same as the released versions, if not
more chaotic! The only real difference was 'Best Imitation' which starts
really baroque and then goes ELO in the middle - it's GREAT! Otherwise the
feel of the other tracks are pretty much the same as the album versions,
with only a few lyrical/structural changes. Now the demo's of songs not
used on the first LP are a different 'kettle' of 'fish' as they are mostly
quite miserable and downbeat.

Yello....
Just wanted to point out that BNL was never banned in Halifax. Before they
hit it big they played Halifax and had a miserable trip, which included them
being stupidly booked at the Palace (mentioned in the song, a Dance Bar),
and someone yelling at one of their shows "God this is so boring." They
wrote Hello City in relation to that.
They've played Halifax 3 or so times since then and always apologize
profusely, and even regailed us with a tune about the Halifax delicacy,
donairs.
