I finally bought Jellyfish's albums while I was up in New York and they are
two of the coolest albums I have ever bought. what a great band!!! I can't
believe they broke up. I also bought Imperial Drag and it rocks too.

 Subject: RE: German Import CD

A quick clarification which I have learned about the infamous German CD
listed as "Ben Folds Live." LIVE is actually a typo. The CD should be
titled "Ben Folds Five." Unfortunately, it is NOT a bootleg recording of a
live concert. Instead, it is the German pressing of their debut album which
we know and love by a company called Alteo. Sorry, to break the bad
news...Hopefully, some sort of CD live recording will pop up somewhere!

P.S. I too am looking for any live BFF recordings, so if you have any up for
trade or available for copy, please E-mail me at mandeli@aol.com or
ilagan@fas.harvard.edu. I have various BFF and non-BFF music items to offer!

(This may be old news, but I hadn't seen it before...)

I was over in Seattle today and say at a newsstand the music mag
Flipside... In it was an interview with Ben et al. Didn't have much of
a chance to read, but did scan quickly. There seemed to be the
run-of-the-mill questions, but interesting none the less..

Has any extremly clever person out there transcribed BF5 album into guitar
tabs? If so, any chance you could e-mail em' to me out of the kindness of
 your heart?

<< Damn it, Ben, you're blocking me at every turn! You'd better not tell me
that you ever put the words for "Joy to the World" to the tune of "Sports &
Wine", or I'm just gonna hafta kick your ass. Knock it off already. >>

Actually, Michael, I read in an interview that Ben came up with the song
"Sports & Wine" by singing "Joy to the World" to that tune. He then rewrote
the lyrics to make "Sports & Wine" - JUST KIDDING.
Being a guitar player, though, I am curious to know how you play
"Jackson Cannery" on guitar. Can you post or e-mail the chords or riff that
you use when you play it?

 Subject: Jackson Cannery on Guitar

I sat down the other day and listened to Jackson Cannery. I read here that
he had written the song on the guitar first, so I figured most of it out.

 the first part is easy

 C-D-E-G

the "rising" second part of the verse I have not figured out yet, although I
know it starts with D and rises to G

 the chorus is somewhat complex...

 A-C-G-G-C-D-C

and the "whoa-whoa" section is basically jumping back and forth twixt D and G

Give me another week or so and I will have a more proper transcription.

Subject: So-called "Ben Folds Live" cd

For anyone who's interested, I tried to order the so-called "Ben Folds Live"
cd from "musicbyemail" and the guy who handles their orders told me that it's
not a live album, rather, it's the self-titled album we all know and love. He
said it's apparently a typo from their German distributor. : (

[Good questions so far everyone. A reminder: To post your question to
Ben, who will be answering them next week, send them to me in e-mail
<maynard@oeonline.com> with "Question for Ben" in the Subject field. I
will accept questions up until Monday at noon EDT.
Also, for Schmooze and anyone else who's come up with tablature for
any of the group's songs, I'll be glad to put them on the web pages when
 you get them polished.
Finally, for those who might be wondering, all the prize winners have
been notified by e-mail. If I don't receive responses in a couple weeks
from everyone who's won a prize, I'll go "down the list" and pick the
next qualifiers. As they say, all prizes will be awarded. -fjm]
