 >>On a different note, has anyone else thought it might be interesting to
do a semi-official poll of the other favorite bands of BFF fans on this
list? I know other lists I've been on have done that, and it's usually
  fascinating...

As for me, along with BFF, I enjoy:
 REM (!)
Elton John (!) --more so the early stuff...--
 Erasure
 Counting Crows
 Barenaked Ladies
 George Michael

In the interview the band did with Q Magazine, Ben said that in the writing
process, if something starts to sound like Billy Joel, they'll try to find a
way to f**k it up so it winds up different. He then said that he does not
mean any disrespect towards Billy, that would be hypocritical. He simply
wants to go in a different direction. I've heard no mention of Joe or
 Glenn/Chris in interviews.

Talking of which, has anyone in the UK actually found any Ben Folds
Five T-Shirts yet? They didn't have any at the two gigs in May, and
there were none to be found at Reading either. They had better have
 some when they tour.

 News flash!

For those in the UK who are planning to attend the show on the 26th at
Dingwalls, due to "exceptional public demand", the venue has been changed
to London Astoria 2. Those who have tickets for the Dingwalls gig (26th
only) should return to the point of pu rchase and get them exchanged for
 new tickets.

Just thought I'd let you know....>8)

Just thought I'd share a tidbit from the Moxy Fruvous mailing list.
Apparently Murray recently wore a BFF t-shirt on stage - in 2 consecutive
shows!! I feel very inbred with hearing about different bands on different
lists, and they're all fans of each other, and it's always the same bands
who come up!! Anyway, that's it from me.

 Hi,

Important notice, the BF5 gig on the 26th at London's Dingwalls has been
moved to the LA2 in Charing Cross road. I only found out by accident, but
you've got to change your tickets for new ones at the place you got them
 from.

I'm going to both gigs in London anyway. I'll be the big one with
curly hair that grows sideways and glasses, accompanied by my mate, the thin
one with very long curly blonde hair...

 See you there...

 Nick

Ive been a Billy Joel fan for as long as i can remember. Before i could
even say the pledge to the flag i could sing its still rock and roll to
me. I think part of the reason i have such an appreciation for Ben Folds
is because i was raised listening to rock and roll piano. Anyone else
have a similar take on this?

I haven't been subscribed to the list for very long so forgive me if this
 has been covered before...
I know that Ben used to be in a band called 'Majosha' (actually, he was the
band) and they released a tape called "Shut Up and Listen to Majosha.' How
rare is this item? I believe that I saw a website that listed the tape as
being extremely out of print and valuable...can anyone help out with this
 information?
 thanks

Subject: Ben Folds Five mentioned in 11/28 Rolling Stone

In the November 28th issue of Rolling Stone magazine, Ben Folds Five are
mentioned in Anthony DeCurtis's review of Counting Crows "Recovering the
 Satellites."

 Reprinted without permission:

"These days I feel like I'm fading away / Like sometimes when I hear myself
on the radio / Have you seen me lately?" Duritz wonders in one track. On
another, he sings of "Got Ben Folds on my radio right now," seeming to envy
the possibilities still lying ahead for a younger band such as Ben Folds
 Five.
