 Hi everyone!

i was thinking... We all know BFF's trademark piano sign... but does
anyone actually know from whence it came? Is it a drawing? Did they
find it? Do tell if you know....

OK, so this is pretty much a shameless plug for my band, but I'm very much
the Ben Folds Five fan and I'm sure some of that influence leaks into my own
songs, so there is some relevance. The band is called Nice Guy Eddie and
everyone should run (not walk) to our homepage and let me know what you think
(there are sound clips on the page). I'm particularly interested to hear
from some British list members as I am a big fan of most English music. The
 page is at:

Now...back to Ben and the boys,

 Hi,

Glad everyone thought that the Dingwall's gig was superb!

As far as I know the bloke who called the little blow powered keyboard a
trombone with a mouthpiece said it completely by fluke...

I actually managed to sneak in for the soundcheck, and having got the
ubiquitous inlay card signed by all the members of the band was able to sit
inside, in the warm, and drink some beer.

I also met the tour manager and the head of security, who are both sterling
blokes and deserve a hearty pat on the back for not making me go and stand
 in the cold.

See everyone in the mosh-pit at the LA2...

 Nick

My pal Roger just returned from touring as sound guy for Spookey Rueben,
warm up for BFF in Germany. I insisted he return with some BFF news and
proof of the evnts. Turns out that BFF are friendly folk but not too well
known in Germany yet. He handed me a BFF single (with the live stuff - I
am thrilled) and a tour itinery - SIGNED. I am a fan-boy satisfied.

 Lawks a mercy.

Bear it in mind that I have never interviewed anybody before...

On Saturday I interview the Ben Folds Five! I must say I've been
reassured by all the 'Ben's a great guy' posts, but still, Ben's the
man and it should be good. Even if I only get to talk to Darren or
Robert, hell, that's not much of an only...SWOON.

Adam Duritz has namechecked bands he likes in the past on his
records, in the video for Mr Jones he is wearing a t-shirt which says
Love Jellyfish Style, so the BFF are in fine company.

What a guy, I am soooooooooooooooo excited now.

Sorry for the non-BF5 content;I'll keep it brief. I've seen numerous
comparisons of Ben's music to both Jellyfish and Built To Spill, and am
interested in checking out both bands. But I don't know which CD's to buy.
Can anyone recommend their choice for best album from either of these?

Woah, seems like there was a few of us at the Dingwalls show on Monday.

They were incredible and how much does Ben make me laugh? The guy is just so
entertaining. I think the new song they played was _Battle of who could care
less_. It was great. I think he may have muttered something about the new
record being called _Cigarette_. Did anyone else here that?

Just wanted to comment about this :

 > The show opened with a band called the Diggers, who were Britpop. Nuff
 > said. They trudged thru some tunes that sounded like the Beatles songs
 > no-one remembers. They left after half an hour.

I really disagree with you. I went to the gig thinking "Oh well, another new
Creation band that'll go away after 2 records", but I was wrong. these guys
can really play and sing. And they could REALLY sing. The 3 part harmonies were
spot on. OK they may have got a little samey towards the end but there were
some really cool pop songs amongst it. And they sounded more like the Monkees
 than the Beatles...to me anyway....

Sorry, I've gone on a bit.

To end, how cool was Video Killed the Radio Star! I thought I was back in the
80's for a few minutes there. The whole crowd was singing!

Hope everyone going to the LA2 gig will love it...

 Jay.

 To all concerned:
I too, would love to see Ben Folds and crew hit the states once again.
I'm attending college in L.A. but hail from Portland, OR (which has a
sizeable BFF fanbase. I didn't get into BFF until this past summer, so I
missed the show in L.A. last Feb., and I don't believe the band's come to
Portland yet. So please, please, please...come back guys. I'd love to
 see you play.
