The band was on 120 Minutes last night...thank God for the VCR.

Some tidbits.

BFF will be on the Jenny McCarthy show June 13th singing One Angry Dwarf....

I know ..loser show...but nice to see them on tv....not exactly Conan or
Dave but it will do.

The band is so sarcastic!! I swear Robert makes up shit as he goes;)

I don't think Matt knew what to do with these guys!!!

They played 2 videos...Uncle Walter and Battle of Who Could Careless....

I't made my Monday Morning.

Cheers

Just by sheer dumb luck, my TV was on last night for the first time in months
and I got to catch the videos for BoWCCL and Uncle Walter, which I had never
seen before! Way cool! We even got some interview snippets, though the boys
seemed a bit uneasy and out of place answering some of the same old dumb
questions. And did I hear right... that they'll be on Jenny MacCarthy later
in the month? Or did I completely mis-hear that?

Hi to all. I could design a T-shirt if needed. I do have experience in
design, and am going to make one for myself anyway to wear at the June
1st show in Pittsburgh. I think that the nickname that would be best for
a concert going shirt is ....

 The Solemn Faces.

I don't know if its been done, because I don't read all of the posts, but
that is my best idea. The preliminary design is Ben Folds Five on the
front, but it is written on piano keys. The back will have a stick piano
with solemn faces also written on piano keys on the back. Tell me what
you think privately, and if you want one. Thanks.

Did anyone catch the guys on 120 Minutes last night? They were pretty
good. They ran the BOWCCL and Uncle Walter videos, which was cool. I
just wish Matt Pinfield was a better interviewer. Sometimes it seems he
hasn't prepared any questions - he just stammers his way through.
Anyway, it was nice to see the band get some air time, even though it
was 12:30 am.

Has anyone been following the reviews closely enough to see if BF5 has been
playing the same setlist (and in the same order) every night. From the
reviews that I've read, it looks like they are playing the same show every
night - Cleveland, NYC, Detroit & Philly all opened with Missing the War and
I think that the set from each of these shows omitted Uncle Walter and Sports
& Wine. They have also done the same cover of "She Don't Use Jelly". If
this is the case, I've got to believe that the shows will start to get
"stale" for the guys in the band.

Here's to hoping that I'm wrong and to seeing some more variation in the set.

Subject: Finally! The new BFF album!

Yes, I went against all good judgment and FINALLY bought the new Ben Folds
Five album (and the new Pulsars and that dog.....both GREAT albums, too!). I
was going to wait until I actually had money to spend, but I couldn't wait
any longer. Hearing the people on the list talking about the many
interpretations of "Brick" and their favorites from the album put me over the
edge. I realized I couldn't survive on simply the "Underground" song and the
"Battle of Who Could Care Less" imports. With my first BFF album currently
residing in Chicago at a friend's dorm (I'm in Southern CA, by the way), I
was suffering serious BFF withdrawl. The new album is great. I am happy.
Severely in debt, but damn happy. (Uh-oh....I think I just forgot about
Mother's Day.....and my little brother's birthday......uh-oh....)

(Sorry if that offended anyone...I'm just in one of those moods again)

Hey Fivers!
Well I'm sure you all caught 120 minutes last night. Ben was
pretty funny. But what stuck in my mind was the terrible interviewer
Mr."I've got a pick piece of bark caught in my throat" Pinfield.
Terrible, just terrible.
Anyway, The MILWAUKEE show is on sale now! Where the hell does
Ticketmaster get off charging an extra 3.50?(bastards!all of them).
Let's all thank Naked Vegan got compiling the cover songs. What a
man! I think "Big Bottoms" by Spinal Tap would be hilarious. Well ,peace
out everyone. Hope all is well.

Subject: A few things...

1) Anyone see 120 min last night, AWESOME. Too bad they were on the
second hour, I had to sit through the Silverchair shite. I mean, they
have some decent songs and they have potential, but they were so lame -
I guess that they were nervous...But how about the boys, funny as hell.
I loved the Japanese joke from Robert and the studio comments from
Ben...these boys have personality!

2) About the Komeda bassist:
>straight outta oasis? not quite. marcus- the bass player (along with the
>rest of the band) is much cooler than anyone from oasis

I think I know what the person meant about the oasis connection cause that's
exactly what we thought at the show - The guy looks like Noel (or looked
like him there at the show). As far as being much cooler than anyone in
oasis, I'm sure that isn't that hard (but I don't deny that fact that they
may be swell chaps, for I never met them).

3) Complaints from people on this list:

Like in a message from <evlbison@neo.lrun.com>
(sorry for making y'all read this again but I had to make a point):

>WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!?!?! Just ONE "posting" in this
>digest, and it's just a reply of the whole last digest?? No
>offense Frank, but PLEASE drop MajorDomo. It's getting old.
>No one can keep the list like you... and all these newbies
>and lame re-posters are driving me NUTS!!!! They can't
>figure out how to unsubscribe for themselves?

and from <BShawn@ix.netcom>:

>OK, if someone doesn't take over administering this list very soon, I'm
>outta here. People who are too stupid to even understand their email
>software are seriously ruining this forum. I refuse to read another two
>line message that quotes the ENTIRE previous digest.

I didn't find the excessive quoting that annoying. I mean, I understand
email enough to press the space bar to page down and the delete key to
get rid of that stuff. I was actually happy because I thought that I was
gonna have to read a whole digest but it turned out to be garbage so I had an
extra 1/2 hour to waste. I think if you are soooo annoyed by it, leave -
noone is forcing you to be here plus, all the bitching in the world isn't
gonna make things better. This is what it is - take it or leave it. Be
happy that you are lucky enough to have lived during the time of a band
as awesome as BFF and got the chance to see their live shows and their
evolution as a band. That enough for me, the rest I can deal with.

And the masterpiece:

>Wake up people, or it's over.

What do you mean? What's over? Are you gonna do a suicide bombing and
take us all down with you? Seriously, chill out and use your energy to
add something about the band.

4) Someone asked "What's the new single gonna be?"

Ben, from the online chat, said that "One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces"
was gonna be the next single. Also, on 120 min they showed a clip from the
new video for it (that was awesome - said like Chris Farley from Tommy Boy)

Pinfield announced last night that BFF would be appearing on the Jenny
McCarthy show on June 13 (or around then) to actually play, something that they
couldn't do on 120 min. Oh well, the interview and videos were sweet.
Happy computing...

Okay,
	several Bff items at once.
First, I saw the 120 minutes thing last night and I'd say the entire hour
contained no more than 4 minutes of time with the boys. However, they
did play a clip of the underground video, and the entire Uncle Walter
video, with the uncle chasing Ben, Darren, Robert, and a bunch of little
old ladies around in the magical armchair. It was so bad it was good.

Second,
The Washington and Lee show was fabulous for this BFF diehard. I
got to chat with Ben before the show (I met Kate). Once again, Ben
remembered my name and said he got the cookies we put onstage for him at
the Winston-Salem show. I also asked Ben to play Evaporated, and got a
similar response to that which the other armchairite received. (If any
armchairpersons were there, I was the guy jumping up and down right at
the keyboard of Ben's piano with the pig from Hawaii on my shirt.
I did actually reach up during soundcheck and play a key or two,
and I took a bunch of pictures with Ben two feet away, though I think the
flash wasn't working so I don;t know if they'll come out. The band
played Uncle Walter at the crowd's request and did a funny mock-up
impromptu of My Sharona. Also, the bass player from Komeda (hard to
understand lyrics because of the mix, but entertaining band) sang part of
The Ultimate Sacrifice. Hilarious. All in all, a great show. I think
the set list was already posted.

Finally, I received email from a high school student (I believe) who is
an orchestra playing Ben Folds Five music in an upcoming concert. If
you're interested, and live in New Jersey you may be able to attend. I
encourage anyone to check out this URL.

hey-
i have heard "bad idea" off of the cats and dogs soundtrack, and it's very
disappointing, actually. the whole song is "i don't wanna, i don't wanna,
make me feel retarded". in case none of you know this, bff also have an
un-cleaned up version of "song for the dumped" on the mr. wrong soundtrack.
if you haven't heard it, don't feel guilty, i think the new one's better.
also, i got the second part of the underground single last weekend, and
ordered the first part. are there any other singles out?
