     * DO NOT send unsubscribe requests to the posting address!!
       Send all administrative requests to
            armchair-request@maillist.il.ft.hse.nl
     * Change the subject of your reply to something pertaining to your
message (not "Magical Armchair Digest, Volume X, Issue #nnn").
     * Keep your posts short. Remember, you are writing to over a thousand
people. Long posts tend to ramble. Reread your message before
       sending it!
     * DON'T quote excessively, OR QUOTE THE ENTIRE DIGEST, when
replying. Edit your quote to only the line or lines you are
replying to. Remember, unlike Usenet, everyone's already seen the

     * Please keep non-Ben Folds Five content to a minimum. Members who
chronically post off-topic messages may be unsubscribed. This
includes chain letters, virus warnings, etc. Also, refrain from
posting a message that basically says "me too" or answers a
question that has already been answered unless you have more
details. Messages of a moderating nature are off-topic; the moderator
will handle this behind the scenes.
     * Before posting questions of a general nature (e.g., "Anyone have

My guess as far as an interpretation (even though I haven't seen this
video) is that Ben's making fun of all of the people that saw what they
thought was a devil in the window or doorway of th eplace where they shot
some of the album art for the Eagles' Hotel California. It turned out to be
some really drunk lady in a red dress, but for years there were a bunch of
idiots that thought that the Eagles were some wierdo satan worshiping
moonies or something. I'll put money on this. I bet that there are a
bunch of people that don't get the Satan is my Master joke either. In fact,
it's possible that that's what inspired this. Oh well, as Dennis Miller
says, "That's just my opinion, I could be wrong."

Oh yeah, and I agree. We need something to denote a difference from BFF
fans, "fivers?", and us "Armchairites."

anyone here live near phila and see the show on Wed the 30th of April?
it was really great, the first time i've seen them live and i had an
incredible
time. I can tell anyone who wants to know what songs they played, i got
the set list right here with me. I was pretty surprised at all the different

kinds of people there. There were mostly like 20 and 30 somethings, a lot
more girls than i would have thought, some people my parents age and some
as young as my brother, 14. It was an interesting group.
Thanks talk to you all later

Subject: another 120 request...

The first week in ages I decide not to make a friend of mine tape 120 for
me, I miss BFF, it would happen, so I'll hop on the bandwagon and ask if
anyone could make me a copy... I would pay, of course, unless anyone is
interested in Blur/Manics/Pulp + other various British or another episode
of 120 that I haven't recorded over...

I was flipping through an issue of Mojo from March and it had a little
thing about 'Underground' apparently in the verse the bass stays on B while
the 5th of B maj. is rasied chromatically to become the #5, then again to
become the sixth. And if you do the same to a minor chord you create the
James Bond Theme. Strange the things you learn.

A couple people on some other lists I'm on for Graham Coxon and Pulp have
started to like BFF and they all seem to have an attraction to 'Fair'. I
like the song a lot, but I'm not sure what sticks out about that one.

Alex--I'm sending out the single tomorrow.

Cheers,
Pollyanna

minutes interview and videos, but I would too. I was in Atlanta for the
weekend to see their show there so I missed it...and of course like an
idiot, I totally spaced on setting my VCR. If anyone has it on tape, and
has 2 VCRS so they can make a copy, please e-mail me. I'll pay you for
the tape, postage and your trouble.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their interest in my T-shirt design.
As soon as I get enough response, I will set out on making some. If I
make them, they will be done by June 1st, because that is when I will
need them by for my personal use. If anyone with an often hit BFF
webpage wants to take orders for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, on another note...I am so excited one of my base four favorite
artists just came out with a new album and I got the advance copy at the
station. BEN LEE!!! He is actually mature now for those of you who have
heard of him before. His new single "New Song" was debuted on MTV last
week. The album rocks!!! Also, in the five for fighting promo pack, it
lists Ben Folds Five as their favorite band, and biggest influence. The
lead singer sounds like a cross between Eddie Vedder and Adam Duritz.
Anyone else hear it? Anyway the band is good, try it out. After, of
course you get Ben Lee. btw, it is called Something to remember me by,
and is on Grand Royal, yes the Beastie Boys label.

hello all, just felt obligated to say something after catching up with what
seemed like years of posts! to quote mrs. mia wallace, "i said got damn!"

is there any sign of change as far as going back to the old frank-handled
format for the list? that would be a damn dream.

anyway i noticed a few things in the bazillion post that i wanted to comment
on:

"weed" reference deletion:
yeah, mtv is funny...Tom Petty can't say "so let's get to the point, lemme
roll anotha joint" and Dr. Dre can't even show a leafy "chronic" bud on his
hat...but if you're Green Jello or Jelly or whatver...you have pigs smokin
joints in yer video! fascinating.

alright fine, it's very late and i can ony think of that. forgive me.

No MTV never reruns 120, they never used to rerun the Headbangerball
either. Some how they only show the crappy shows twice. The interview
was fine, I was happy to see the video for "Uncle Walter". I think MTV
has only shown it once before. Now I've seen all the videos atleast
twice.

When I showed Ben my stick piano tattoo at the show here last month, he
didn't think it was real at first. He said, "What is this, crayon?"
(Yeah right, the one thing you CAN'T write on yourself with!) I'd
mentioned the tattoo in the Armchair several months prior, so I guess Ben
doesn't read all the Armchairs. Especially now that the volume is so
large... I know that fans used to print out the Armchair and give it to
the boys at shows. Now that they have their own website and mailing list
and are on the Sony label, I kind of assumed that one of their staff
would be printing out the armchair for them, but on second thought,
that's probably not a good assumption. Maybe someone could ask the boys
at future shows whether they want us to keep delivering printouts of the
Armchair to them at their shows.

In other news, I was never able to get a copy of the promo home video.
Who wants to sell me one?
