Tomorow, I graduate from high school. All of that "hard" work has
finally paid off. Just think of all the friends of memories.

As I walk across that stage to get my diploma, underneath my gown, I'll
be wearing the t-shirt of a certain little musical group.

It says
"I was never cool in school..."

Sorry for the non-bff content...

In response to seeing Marcy Playground open, I just wanted to say that
they rock!!! Anyone who gets CMJ, monthly or weekly, will have their
single, "Sex and Candy". If you liked the song, get the album, it is so
good!!! I found it used for 3 bucks on OSU campus, and I listen to it all
the time. In fact, I think I am going to stop the new BEN LEE, and pop
in Marcy Playground right now. Just in case you were curious the 3 CD's
in my changer right now are Ben Lee, Marcy Playground, and Built to
Spill, I am a sucker for drone rock. Marcy Playground is not drone rock
btw. Thanks for listening.

hi
there was a rather substantial article on BF5 in the Sydney Morning Herald's
Metro this morning. If anyone wants it, email me. It's a bit weird, I think
the writer was trying to be funny....

Hiya, Whatevers!

(Good name for us, seeming we don't know what the hell to call
ourselves...)

Anyway, after seeing Ben Folds Five on TFI Friday, I'm convinced
they've made a massive leap forwards in the UK in terms of popularity
- - right from the word go, I was transfixed with the subtle way Mr.
Folds hammered his elbow down onto the piano, the way all three of
them harmonized even when playing instruments as well, the way Ben
even shouted some Japanese and smiled a cheesy smile at the audience
during the performance...

Okay, so the inevitable fact was that the drum and bass was slightly
louder than the piano (someone shoot the sound man!) but as one post
put it, the energy was DEFINITELY there and the reaction from the
crowd at the end of the song was an ear-drum splitting roar... so
well done to the boys, and I'll now have to find a way to break into
Glastonbury (parachute drop? Maybe...) as I definitely have a taste
for seeing the lads live....

Oh, and for the general record, Chris Evans is still a ginger twat.

Later, you incredibly cool people...

Steve ;)~

Hello to all of you "whatever we are calling ourselves today",

I've been thinking. Greadful Dead fans are called "Dead-Heads". Phish
fans are called "Phish-Heads" (well, if they're not, they should be). So we
should call ourselves...

"Ben-Heads"

Or maybe "Folds-Heads" or "Five-Heads". What do you think? Say it a few
times. It kind of has a ring to it.

By the way, Anyone going to Wednesdays show at Lupo's in Providence, RI?
If anyone wants to meet up, e-mail me.

    Adios,
    Darrell

I would like to be bold enough to suggest another stupid game which we can
pursue pointlessly on this group (Ref. "What should we call ourselves?
Maynard's Beddites?")

Along the lines of the Miller Analogy Test, simply draw comparisons between
the difference between BFF's first and second albums and any other two
connected phenomena.

For example, _Ben Folds Five_ is to _Whatever and Ever Amen_, as _Look
Sharp_ is to _Night and Day_.

Or as Todd Rundgren's Utopia is to Todd Rundgren solo.

Or as going for a run in the park is to walking along the beach.

Hours of amusement!

First off, an apology: I didn't know punkerboy was only accepting
NOMINATIONS for bands for BF5 to tour with, with an actual election to
follow later; I thought any suggestion sent to him was an actual vote.
So, I goofed by asking you all to "vote" for my band by mailing
punkerboy. It turns out that my nomination was enough, and you'll have
the opportunity to vote when he sends out a ballot.

And speaking of ballots, I've still only received 68 ballots (32 to go)
in the Cover Song election. If you haven't voted yet, please vote by
visiting http://members.aol.com/nakedvegan

Remember, the sooner you get off your butt and vote, the sooner you can
avoid hearing me whine about how I haven't received enough ballots. :-)

Love, -- Michael Bluejay

i received in the mail today a tape of 120 minutes and the bff
promo video thingy..it's really cool. i'd offer to tape it for people,
but i can't make dubs of this stuff cuz i don't have 2 vcrs and the last
time i tried to get something dubbed for someone i ruined one
soundgarden bootleg and ended up losing another to my best friend's
stupid cheating girlfriend who lives 90 miles away and now we can't get
the damn tapes back ugh, don't get me wrong though, i'd love to help out
some fellow bff fans) that was a really good sg bootleg i lost
too..sigh. well anyway, i really dug the tape, especiallythe version of
"battle" without the "score some weed" part edited out. and that does
make absolutely NO sense, about how ben can sing about seeing children
smoking pot and knowing that they'll be shooting up heroin, but he can't
sing about calling paul to see if he can score some weed. at least on
mtv, that is. that's weird.
the video for "underground" looks cool too. boy i wish mtv would
play that in its entirety, at least, when i'm able to see it :)
today i had a funny incident..my vcr sits on the floor cuz i
have no room for it..and i tripped over it and hit the PLAY button in
the process and all of a sudden i look and see ben folds on tv, and it
was really weird because i had just been watching mtv and i wigged out
cuz i thought BFF was on mtv..but alas..i had simply tripped over the
vcr..and had ben folds screaming obscenities about his coffee with the
parental units within earshot..was pretty funny. oh well, what a long
post, i think i'll go give y'all a rest now :)

Dearest Everyone on this wonderful Fun Filled Fiver list,

What up? I am reposting the info that i had written on 5-21 because for some
reason, I don't think that it showed up on the list.

1. I am going to the Pittsburgh show and I think that there should be a sign
or somehting to let other armchairites know who else is on the armchiar. My
suggestion is that we all draw big 5s on our hands in marker. That way, when
we see each other, we can slap each other high fives, and maybe, some of us
will be high fivers giving high fives. There are just a million hidden
meanings in this symbol. HOpefully it will bring us all closer together. If
you have another suggestion, give it a good old post.

2. WOW. MITCHELL LANE!!! I am just so psyched that Darren wrote this song,
he comes out from behind the drums, sings, and plays guitar for it!! Aren't
you all super excited?!?!?!?!? Thanks to whomever posted the meaning of
Mitchell lane in a previous Armchair (it was the home street of Summer B).
 Darren Rocks the world.

Peace Out Fivers. STay Chill. Luv, Heather
