Well folks..to be honest, these past two days have probably been almost the
best I've ever had. Wednesday I dragged my friend with me to Lupo's to see
the Five, she'd never heard them before, and the show kicked some major
booty! The "Ultimate Sacrifice"..I have no words to describe it...the crowd
was pretty good, although, when you're packed into a club like sardines,
why do people insist on moshing? It's like I"m at the front of the stage, I
can't really go any further, unless I hurl myself on the stage, what would
they like me to do? "Pretty People" was pretty groovy...who wrote that
again? After the show, my friend and I hung around outside, and eventually,
they all came out one by one and signed stuff. Darren came out first, and
then Ben, and I learned that his jacket was new, but kind of snug...then
Robert eventually sauntered out, arms laden with packages, so he put those
in the bus and returned, beer in one hand, to sign things. After signing
stuff, he hung outside with us so he could smoke and we chatted about how
missed his flight that morning, the shopping scene in Northhampton, MA, the
weather, so it was pretty amazing..plus I got a guitar pick..pure bliss.
Well, on the way home, my friend decided that it was a necessity to go see
them again at Saratoga Winners, and of course, why would I argue with that?
So..come yesterday at 5:30 pm, we were off to go see them again..it was
pretty cool. The show had some minor technical difficulties I think with
the bass, but other than that, it was awesome, although, no "Ultimate
Sacrifice." The crowd was kind of dead, no one was really grooving around.
We waited around afterwards, to get more autographs...it was cool...it was,
as I recently learned from a friend from Eastern MA, wicked pissa. Did
anyone tape either of those shows? If you did, email me at
fantonan@bcn.net, and for those of you who have yet to see them...it is a
must. Now I just have to wait for HORDE to come to my town....

In the grand tradition of myself, I forgot something which just popped into
my head about last night's show at Saratoga Winners....they played "Best
Imitation" without piano. Ben came up to the front of the stage with a mic,
and sang with just the bass and drums, it rocked..and when he sang Steven's
he did say "f**ked" instead of "charmed" Of course, I'm not sure if anyone
else noticed..but I was just like yay....well not really, I cheered, but I
don't think that can really be expressed in words. Oh yeah..Ben was talking
about how he went for a bike ride before the show and nearly got hit by a
car and he sang a little diddy about how he didn't know his way around
Saratoga, or even what it looked like, it was cool. Okay...hmm..I'm sure I
included everything I can remember at the moment, of course, my mind works
in wacky ways so I'll probably remember things a year from now, so just
bear with me...

Sarah :)

"Hey, what the hell!?! I didn't pay for no orchestra..." as well as "A
Piano?!?"
I've never been to a bff show, do they still get any "who the hell are
these guys?", like was mentioned on whatever web site I read that on?

And I'm kinda pissed 'cause apparently SNZ aren't gonna be at the local
HORDE show... and the fact that the Five will only be playing for 30
minutes...

Also, someone said something about a b-side compilation album next year?
Any more info on that? Also, why do most of their recent b-sides suck?

My top ten for those who care:
Weezer|Pinkerton|BFF|W&EA|Phish|Junta|TheyMightBeGiants|Apollo18|MoxyFruvous
|Bargainville|SmshPmpkns|MellonCollieAnd...|ScottJoplin|CompleteWorksOf~|Blu
esTraveler|Four|TheBeatles|Revolver|SNZ|Hot| and BFF|BFF for good measure...

That's probably very hard to read. But most of you don't care anyway...

I just called the 9:30 Club - doors open at 7:00, first band at 8:30,
second at 11:00. The guy who answered the phone said BF5 would probably
play first, but that was subject to change. Even if Ben plays first,
please stick around for Bettie Serveert; they're a very good band. See
ya at the show.
