A while ago (2 months ago maybe) I heard on Triple J (a national
Australian radio station) Ben Folds Five live version of Wonderwall.
Does anyone know anything about this? Where they sung it? Or for the
Triple J listeners out there, have you heard it since?? I've only heard
it once and I sent a net request, but keep on forgetting to listen to
the Request Fest. ACK! Anyway, thanks to anyone who can help.

Hello all...

OK... here's the scoop... for my new ezine, I'm looking for
reviews of various shows around the US and other parts of the world. If
you have recently seen a good (or not so good) show that you feel the
need to write an objective review of, please email me witht the review
or ask me for more info (privately, ofcourse). Keep in mind that the
people who read the reviews may or may not be familiar with the band.
I'm also looking for short fiction and good poetry. Email me privately,
or check out http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Alley/1867/ for more
info.

My top 10 as of today is:
1)Ben Folds Five- Whatever & Ever Amen
      2)Soul Coughing- Ruby Vroom
3)Ben Folds Five- Ben Folds Five'
      4)Soul Coughing- Irresistable Bliss
5)Poi Dog Pondering- Liquid White Light
      6)Barenaked Ladies- Rock Spectacle
      7)Not Rebecca- Rocketship to Canada
8)The Skolars- 10 Songs and then some
      9)Cake- Fasion Nugget
10)The Flannel Tubs- Plaster, Puke & Politics

I am starting a band in the Chicagoland area (please forgive
me if I have posted this before). Myself and a guitarist are looking for
a bass player (stand up preffered), a keyboard/sampler, and a drummer to
complate an original band. No experience is necessary, but an open mind,
creativity, and competence with your instrument is. Male or female. We
prefer that you be between the ages of 18-25.
Influences include Soul Coughing, BF5, BNL, Primus, Rollins Band, Poi
Dog Pondering, and others.

Finally, last but not least.... for those of you that have
been waiting for the Tour Bands ballot to come out... I promise I'll
post it by tomarrow, work hahad me pretty weighted down over here the
past week or so.

          Thanks...

                                            Johnny

I saw the show at First Ave last night, and it was the best of the three
times I've seen the band. The sound was great, the guys were all into it,
and there was a good rapport with the crowd.

I saw a couple of mic stands by the sound board, and wondered whether
anyone had a tape of the show. I'd love to get a copy, and would be glad
to make a trade or pay for it. If someone has a boot of this show (June
4) please email me. Thanks!

Subject: Another Milwaukee review.

Here's my assesment of the Milwaukee show:

Good things:
- - Uncle Walter!
- - Bow-wow-wow-yippie-yo-yippie-yay.
- - That Dick Dale song (the one from Pulp Fiction) in the piano solo for
Dr. Pyser.
- - September 67 (one of the best openers I've ever seen-- actually,
probably the best).
- - Ben's piano-dive. Got it on film, too.
- - Emmaline. It's my favorite song.
- - They didn't try to confiscate my camera like they did a month ago in
Chicago.

Bad things:
- - The Rave's acoustics. They suck. You couldn't even hear the bass at
times, and everything was all echo-y.
- - Too much smoke (smoke makes me feel sick).
- - The crowd (I don't like fratboys. I don't like people in general, but
I really don't like fratboys).

In conclusion:
It was a fun concert, though the lack of better sound was a bit of a
let-down. Go and get September 67's album right now! It's great. Les
Lokey (did I spell that right?) was alright... she's one of my friend's
co-workers, so I knew her stuff... it sounded weird to be played so loud
(it's more of acoustic coffe-house style stuff, really)...

Oh yeah, and whoever said that Ben looked annoyed at the guy who took a
flash picture right away... well, that comment kind of upsets me.
Someone (especially a performer) who would have the attitude to get
upset over a fan trying to take a picture... well... there's just
something wrong with that. It sounds almost pompous.

Anyway, that's my opinion. Yay.

Well, I'm new to this list, but don't get me wrong, I'm not new to BFF.
To answer somebody's question, no, the HORDE ain't a commin to Pittsburgh.
The June 1 show at Pittsburgh's Metropol was great. In fact, it was
perhaps one of the best shows I've seen. My friends and I have been fans
since the first album, but weren't surprised to discover that most of Pgh
isn't. The crowd was pretty lame, but my pals were riled up (and drunk.
Sorry, but there wasn't really much to do during Sept. 67, so we hit the
bar) and jumped around alot. They got alot of energy flowing around them,
too, so people began to get rowdy. However, I was tired of the other
people around me telling each other that "philosophy," "Underground,"
"Best Im. of myself," et al. "have to be new songs."
but anyway, gotta go to Ohio for HORDE, I suppose. Only good news for Pgh
is that Barenaked ladies come on July 21 or so.

So what about 'em? The Top Ten of all Top 10s, in no particular order:
Ben Folds Five-Ben Folds Five
Ben Folds Five-Whatever...
Operation Ivy-Energy
The Clash-Give 'Em Enough Rope
The Pietasters-Ooo Loo Loo
Sonic Youth-Dirty
The Cure-anything and everything...
G Love and Special Sauce-G Love & Special Sauce
The Specials-The Singles
Bikini Kill-Pussy Whipped
So there you have it. Throwing Muses and Desmond Dekker get honorable
mentions, and like someone else said if you asked again in 10 minutes
it'd probably change. Bye. Caroline

Subject: Bootlegging?

I just joined this list, so I apologize if this question
has been asked 2000 times already. I was wondering if BF5
allows (or even encourages) fans to tape their live shows.
In other words, do they permit legal "bootlegging"?

As for my top 10 albums...that's a lot of pressure
to name 10, so here are my favorites:

Grateful Dead: Terrapin Station
Allman Bros: Eat A Peach
Ben Folds Five: Ben Folds Five
Beatles: (white album)
Neil Young: Tonight's the Night
Phish: Junta
Grateful Dead: One From the Vault

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I cannot resist submitting my top ten list. It's one of my
favorite topics of conversation...always a telling glipse into a
person's psyche. So, here it goes...

Pavement-"Slanted and Enchanted"
Morphine-"Cure for Pain"
Throwing Muses-"The Real Ramona"
Pulp-"Different Class"
Liz Phair-"Exile in Guyville"
Blur-"Parklife"
Unrest-"Perfect Teeth"
Ben Folds Five-"Ben Folds Five"
The Smiths-"Louder than Bombs"
Archers of Loaf-"Icky Mettle"

As for BFF content, there is a kick ass cover of "Champagne
Supernova" by our boys on the new "Notes from Home" sampler,
distributed by the Record Exchange--a record store in North
Carolina and Virginia. Check it out...

Subject: Pretty bad idea.....

Hmm, something's going wrong here. First I get two blank Armchairs, then I get two #333, and #334, but they're all different. Weird. Sort it out, Majordomo fellas.

First, to whoever it was wanted the Bad Idea lyrics, find them on my web page at

http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/5430/BadIdea.html

along with all the others too.

Secondly, seeing as my first attempt was lost in the Great Lost Armchair Debacle (as it shall hereby be known), here, like every other goddamn person on this list (but hey, I don't mind) is my top ten albums (different from the ten I originally posted, but my tastes change on a timescale of hours)

Actually, they don't really represent my top top ten albums, but merely the ten really good ones I can remember.

(Ben Folds Five omitted for obvious reasons)

Candyskins - Sunday Morning Fever (buy it now!)
Housemartins - London 0 Hull 4 (R.I.P. The first band I ever loved)
Kingmaker - Eat Yourself Whole (R.I.P again)
R.E.M. - Fables of the Reconstruction (and everything else, except Monster)
Radiohead - Pablo Honey (just to be alternative, but it is a superb album)
Super Deluxe - Famous (New one in July. Yay!)
U2 - The Joshua Tree	(*THE* classic album)
Crowded House - Woodface (Err, R.I.P. I guess)
Jason Falkner - Author Unknown (Glad I didn't have to pay 18 quid for it...)
Supergrass - I Should Coco (Superb summer album. Good Work Fellas!)

And there's loads of others, but I can't remember everything...

Hmm, I can't think of any *proper* BFF content. Sorry....
