This brings up an interesting point. I hate to put labels
on music and groups, but when I try to tell my friends about
BF5, they always ask, "What are they like? Compare them to
someone". The best response I can come up with is:
they are a cross between Queen, Phish, and Supertramp.

Can anyone else think of a better description?

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I don't have any BF5 shows, but am in dire need of some.
I have plenty to trade, including Grateful Dead, Phish, Allman
Brothers, JGB, Ratdog, Zero, Bruce Hornsby, Neil Young, and
Joni Mitchell.
Or I'd be willing to send blanks and postage.
I've been out of the tape-trading loop for a while,
and would like to get back in.

Let me know!

I found the following statement at http://oeonline.com/bff:
>The band has no objection to making a tape recording of a show with
>a handheld tape recorder, as long as it is for your own personal
>use and not for distribution to anyone else.

When it says "not for distribution to anyone else", I am
assuming it means non-commercial distribution.
Or do they frown upon trading?
I'm just looking for some shows, but don't want to abuse
the band's policy.

This is not a top ten albums post. Surprised?

Anyway... Why must HORDE suck in Columbus? no Beck, no SNZ, no Soul
Coughing. only 30 minutes of BFF. $30 before TicketBastard charges. Maybe
I'll just wait until they come here alone...

Hey, can I buy a BFF t-shirt at HORDE if I go? Will they be more expensive
than if I just ordered one (I'd assume so) ?

Hey Everybody,

In #337 I posted the lyrics to Mitchell Lane.
In the cold light of day I've seen a mistake
the line: "Sunshine is amiss", should be changes to "The sunshine isn't
missed"

It was late, I was tired, you understand

Pearl Jam -- No Code (just kidding!!)
This was in Adam DeLisse's Top 10 post. It may be because I'm a huge Pearl
Jam fan but this kind of ticked me off. Just because and album strays from a
band's norm, it can still rock(as does No Code). I would expect this opinion
to be shared by many others, especially on a mailing list for an
out-of-the-norm band. Oh Well.
No offense though. It's just that I believe No Code to be Pearl Jam's best
album musically, lyrically, etc. It's just got alot of thought and time put
into it from a group of guys who kinda know what they're talkin about.
 Thanks

Please please please help me finish the voting for songs for BF5 to

In other news I had two brief dreams recently in which BF5 music played a
role. In the first, I was listening to Best Imititation, and I noticed
that after Ben sings "...fool somebody else" for the first time, where
there's that little bass melody (E G# B F E), I heard that the first note
of that melody was played with a nylon-string guitar. That's weird, I
thought, how could I have never noticed that before? Well, of course I
never noticed it before because in real life there IS no nylon string
guitar. Later in the dream, I thought I had woken up, and I was telling
somebody about how I had dreamed that the first note of that bass melody
was played with a nylon string guitar, but in fact I was still dreaming.

In the second dream, I was writing a song, and it used a diminished
chord, but then I decided that the song sounded too much like the bridge
to "Fair", which also uses a diminished chord. If memory serves correct,
that's the only diminished chord on Whatever & Ever.

By the way, somebody mentioned here recenty that at a recent show, Robert
sang "Show me the mosh pit" as a dominant chord. I'm not so good with
the terminology -- what notes make up a dominant chord?

Subject: Pictures!!!

Hey Fivers! (I am sticking with that)

I have some pictures to share. I have them located on the net right now. I
will create a page and link the pictures and associate numbers with them
if anyone wants to get some from me. I have two G-R-E-A-T pictures of
Ben and Kate together, however, I am saving those for them. I want them
to see the pics first. They are SOOOO great together. This is from the
Milwaukee show. There are some pics of me and my wife (long hair),
and our friend Tina (short hair) who also went to the show, so weed
through those, even though there is only a couple.

I really apologize for the number of links.

Subject: Tope Ten and BFF in Rolling Stone

Hi all,
Ok I know everyone has been doing Top Ten favorite albums, I really
enjoy reading them. But i don't like to be like everyone else, so I'll
give you my Top Ten Worse albums. Besides it's too had to chose just 10
favotite ones. If you don't agree with these don't get pissed about it.

  No Doubt - Tragic Kingdon
  Pearl Jam - Vitology
  Pearl Jam - No Code
Allanis Morreste - Jagit Little Pill
  Romeo and Juliet Soundtract
Hole - Live Through This (I like Hole just not this album)
  Metallica - Load
  Metallica - Metallica (Black Album)
  ANYTHING Green Day (except Dookie)
  ANYTHING Tom Petty

Ok now to the BFF stuff. I just got my issue of Rolling Stone (my mom
bought a subscription to this dumb magazine for me for the next 3
years), and they have a review of the BFF show on April 28 at Irving
Plaza in New York. It's on page 38 if anyone wahts to see it, I'll have
it on my web page soon. Bye the way I'm so happy I'll get to see BFF
on the HORDE tour here in KCin July.

Okay, I'll conform and list my top 10 as well:

Ben Folds Five - both albums - this is OBVIOUS
The Wallflowers - self titled debut album (does NOT contain "One
Headlight")
Material Issue - Telecommando Americano (final album released last
month...WONDERFUL)
Imperial Drag - self titled debut album
Jellyfish - Spilt Milk
Material Issue - Destination Universe
Bob Dylan - The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
Queen - A Night at the Opera
The Greenberry Woods - Big Money Item
The Wallflowers - Bringing Down the Horse

Of course I have tons of others I wish I could include...and I cheated a
bit by listing both BF5 albums as one, but I could only narrow it down to
11, so I had a cheat with that one. Had I been able to include a few
more, I would have added: Brendan Benson, the other 2 Material Issue
albums (International Pop Overthrow & Freak City Soundtrack), many more
Queen albums, and on and on and on...

Sandi

P.S. How about everybody's fave BF5 song? I suppose that would create
too much of a disturbance since all of them are amazing.

"and she speaks, and she breathes, i wanna be KATE, KATE, KATE!" - BF5
