I really don't know if this is true or not, but I heard that Ben Folds
Five will be coming to AUSTRALIA for the Livid Festival!!! Problem is,
that's in Queensland. What about the rest of the country? They've gotta
come to Sydney! Anyways, don't get your hopes up 'cause this could
easily be a load of bull. But fingers crossed anyways...

I didn't get my tape yet, either. Has _anyone_ gotten their tape? A
tape tree is a cool thing to do, and someone went through a lot of
trouble to set it up. It would be sad if one person didn't follow
through and ruined it for everyone.

Hello all,
it's about 11:30 here on tuesday night in the lovely town of rochester,
michigan. And I am watching david letterman. They just cut to a
commercial and what did the band (cbs orchestra) play. The theme to battle
of who could care less. I am a bit disappointed at this. Not nessecerily
the publicity the band is getting because that will lead to them doing more
shows in bigger venues allowing more people to attend. It is good for them
to become popular as long as it is taken the right way. I am disappointed
because of the fact that most people unlike ourselves know them for bowccl.
I have a picture of the stick piano I drew in red crayon in my locker and
most of my friends know about the band because of it. Anytime they play
bowccl on the radio I always hear about it from my friends. "Hey, I heard
ben folds five on the radio today." They always tell me. But why is it
always bowccl? They have so many other great songs, why not play a few of
them? This whole popularity i'm afraid is reaching to the point I feared
most. I just hope the public will realize the talent of ben folds five
instead of it being another "one hit wounder" type of thing. I know I will
always be a fan but I hope it is not ruined for others because of the new
found popularity due to bowccl. Anyway these are my rambleings for tonight.

Matt

please! This is a desprate plea from a despreate man. Stop the top ten
lists and the track listing thing. It's just too retarded. You people
have too much free time on your hands. I don't object to the discussion of
new or different bands but do it in another form other than top ten lists.

Just wanted to post a quick note endorsing usagi's idea from digest # 386:
 ******************************************************
"Hello my name is Walter"

and on the back is a stick figure of an armchair with "the magical
armchair" written directly below it.

I think that would make the perfect t-shirt. If anyone is organizing
this, let me know if I can help in anyway... and if anyone isn't, then get to

Hey Everyone

I've just finished the first draft of my BFF page, and at the moment
its pretty Lame, just lyrics and the FAQ, but I'd really like to do more.
If you have ANYTHING BFF related (except sound files..) like pictures,
stories,
TABS, Lyrics, links, etc., send it to me (you'll get a mention on the
"Thanx" page).
Also I'd like to do a "People on The Armchair" page, so if you have
picture of
yourself and you'd like in, send it to me with a few lines about yourself
with how long you've been on the Armchair.

If you send me stuff put "BFF" in the subject field so I know what it's
about!!

Thanks

All of the DAT tapes are in the mail as of 7/5 and the people I'm
dubbing analog copies for will have them by the middle of next week.
When this tree was first announced I told you all that it would take
some time. I've been involved with 2 other trees for other bands so
things have gotten hectic.

Please accept my appologies for the delay, the tapes are coming. As for
children not being able to reach their parents, please let me know who
you are trying to contact and I'll try and help you get connected again.
If we find out that they are a dud for the tree, I'll work on trying to
get you connected with someone who will help you out.

i was in record town today (just bear with me here) looking
through the Bs (what else?) and i didn't see a section just for ben
folds five, and i still searched until i found the holy grail, there
must have been about seven cds a piece of whatever and ever amen and the
self-titled one..and this was in a record town in albany..and i was just
standing there, thinking about CNN and PBS and conan and jenny mccarthy
and saratoga winners and summerstage and horde and all, and i'm thinking
"ok, they're getting all this coverage, and there's quite a few ben
folds five cds here when just a couple of months ago i went to buy the
self-titled cd because i only had the tape and it was an amazing thing
that i found it on cd...now WHY THE HELL DOESN'T ANY ONE I RUN INTO KNOW
WHO BEN FOLDS FIVE IS?!~"...now, i'm also a big fan of soundgarden, and
while soundgarden had overall more popularity than our BFF does, i
didn't really know anyone personally that was a big fan, and i know tons
of bff fans, yet every time i wear my ben folds five shirt, i get
confused looks. i mean, if they're gaining popularity, that's great
(until they hit the MTV overplayed masses..i mean, it's great to get
more fans, but overplaying kinda ruins a song in a way..i mean..well,
for me anyway), but it's still kinda confusing...people know who they
are yet people don't know who they are, ya know? :D its weird. it's
very cool that people are realizing how talented they are though.
amen.

Subject: CNN's Showbiz Today

Hi all,

This is in response to Adam DeLisse's post about seeing BFF on CNN. No,
your eyes did not deceive you! BFF was the first group in a "Showbiz Today"
segment on cool sounds of the summer that aired a few days ago. The bit I
saw featured scenes from the "BoWCCL" video, Ben Folds and Robert Sledge
soundbites, and a slew of the most obvious clichés you could think of in
regard to pianos. It mentioned how BFF was on the HORDE tour, that they are
from Chapel Hill, etc. I wish I had taped it or could be more exact in
describing it, but it was a fairly lengthy news segment as far as these
things go (20 seconds? maybe more?)

Hope this helps,
Cynthia

PS to all: Was on vacation by Mammoth Lake, CA, last week. In a little
book/music/knickknack store in the resort town of Mammoth, surrounded by
mountains and such, was a tiny , neatly organized CD section. And in it,
two copies of Whatever and Ever Amen. That's our band, reaching far and
wide....

I was in a record store yesterday, they were playing Hollywood Records
upcoming "Lounge-A-Palooza" compilation. I has BFF doing a cover of the
Flaming Lip's "She Don't Use Jelly" and it is quite good. Unfortunately
the album is due to be comercially released until October (?!?!?), and
they wouldn't sell me their promo copy :-(.

I also just (finally) got "Rare On Air Vol 3 with a live version of
"Alice Childress," but it hasn't made it into the CD player yet. . .

Howdy all,

Most of you have probably heard that i have taken on the delightful
task of making Armchair shirts. I have started designing, but would love
any input! If you are interested in a shirt ... the cost will be approx.
10 bucks plus the least expensive shipping to your home. Just to let you
all know i have taken on this project not to make money (I just want to
cover costs) but because i think we (true BF5 freaks) should have a way
of knowing whos who! So, if you are interested email me. colors will
depend on your vote. I have picked out 3 colors already but if you want
something different we can work it out! colors are light sage green,
tan, and this periwinkle blue color. (dont worry boys they arent girlie
colors!) VERY UNISEX!!! Size depends on you. ( and of course what the
store has in stock) These arent cheap shirts either, Hanes Heavyweight
50/50! ok im done babbling now! hope to hear from you!!
