Apparently it is now official, BFF will play Brisbanes Livid Festival on
Oct 4 ( I can't wait, excellent lineup so far, probably the new BDO)
Usually there are a number of spinoff shows round the country before and
after Livid. I know Veruca Salt have a pretty extensive tour before
finishing off at Livid. I just hope that BFF also do a club show in
Brissie. I saw Garbage at Livid last year but also would loved to have
seen them at The Roxy or Festival Hall. Has anyone seen BFF in both a
festival situation and a club show??? If so what was better. I think at a
festival will be good because they are so different to other bands playing.

I work in a service area off the New York State Thruway, and I
saw a couple things today that REALLY caught my eye..One of them was the
Oscar Meyer Weinermobile :) I know that has nothing to do with Ben
Folds Five, but I think it was cool and I wanted to share. So there I
was, at McDonald's diligently filling Happy Meal bags, making popcorn
and salting the fries, and I saw a familiar flash of red and white,
piano-bass-and-drums. I was salivating. Said I to the other girl who was
working front counter with me, "I'LL BE RIGHT BACK!" and I RAN out of
the store, chasing this lad with the familiar shirt. He went out the
door and I stared out side, looking for him, and I saw it again. He was
wearing the white ringer Whatever and Ever Amen shirt (the same one I
have signed and hanging on the wall). I was DYING, but since no one I
work with knows who the hell BFF is, I couldn't share my glory. I didn't
say anything to the kid with the shirt, but if he'd come to McDonald's
(if he did, I didn't see him at least) maybe we coulda shared BFF
stories :) It was pretty cool though

Also I think the mailing list shirt is a GREAT idea, sign me up.
Doesn't matter to me which color the shirts are, they all sound great :)
And as for Shaun Gilmour and the tape tree crisis, no apologies
necessary, and thanks for the update :D

Ok, now im quite upset! whats this deal with switching BF5 for some Paula
Cole chick? I was so excited to see this show that i cancelled a date! i
was all set to record and they said Paula Cole! Ok im rambling! bet you
guys feel the same. Maybe next week?
i think there was a guy on #386 that had a great idea for the shirt...
Hello, My name is ...Walter on the front and a big fluffy ORANGE armchair
on the back that says the magical armchair underneath! the armchair is a
line drawing so far. i got a suggestion from Don ( you get the credit
man) to make the chair orange so that i looks like the one on the back
cover of album 1. it looks cool so far all! i hope to have the design
done by monday. then i will start printing!
if you have any other questions or comments please email me and ill get
back to ya!

Yeah, I think it's true. Ben Folds Five were named as one of the bands
confirmed for Livid, on October 4th this year. Tickets on sale from
July 14th. I'm definitely there - anyone else going?? Oh yeah, and I'm
sure they'll make their way around the rest of Australia.

OK, I really like the name tag t-shirt idea, but I wanted to offer in one of
my own...I actually made a shirt for the band (I REALIZE how incredibly hokey
this is, but it was a COOL lookin' shirt when I was done...) and the shirt
had little pictures representing every song on WAEA. Ex. a dwarf for One
Angry Dwarf, footsteps with daisies in them for Kate, a burning wedding album
for Smoke (which had the smoke from the fire trailing into the smoke from a
cigarette...) , etc. Any feedback is welcome, if this sounds AWESOMELY
stupid to you, e-mail me so I don't look completely dumb in front of the
entire Armchair... :-)

Toodles!

well, much to my surprise, i looked in my local tv magazine and it had a
picture of ben and the gang in it saying they were going to be featured on
this week's edition of Sessions along with k.d.lang, but i had heard all
the rumor on the armchair about how they weren't really going to be on,
but i watched anyways. well, news for everybody, the show featured
k.d.land and paula cole, so those of you who missed the show didn't miss a
damn thing. i am, however, keeping the picture of them :)

see ya'll

Subject: CNN for the last time

finally, the damn CNN online website posted the transcript to the showbiz
today show that had BFF on it. it is as follows:
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MORET (voice-over): Those irrepressible lasses from the UK known as the
Spice Girls have once again latched onto the top spot on U.S. album charts
with sales of 123,000 copies for the week. The Spice Girls had been
nudged out of that spot for the past three weeks by Hanson and Bob
Carlisle.

The Spice Girls' debut album has sold a total of 2.7 million copies to
date. Let's turn now to the top 10 singles of the week, as compiled by
"Billboard" magazine.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

SYDNEY: Summer is not only a season of barbecues and boats, it is also a
time when a lot of people go out in search of live music. Bill Tush has a
report on a couple of new bands that are out there on the road, even as we
speak.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

BEN FOLDS FIVE, SINGING: You not hear me anymore...

BILL TUSH, CNN CORRESPONDENT, (voice-over): The hills are alive with the
sound of music. In fact, this summer the music is coming from everywhere.
From Chapel Hill, North Carolina, comes Ben Folds Five, a band with no
strings attached, just drums, bass, and piano. No guitar.

BEN FOLDS FIVE (singing): I guess it's cool to be alone(OFF-MIKE).

BEN FOLDS, PIANO/VOCALS: You take some knocks when you start out. And you
have to be kind of thick-skinned and thick-skulled about things. And so,
you know, a band rolling a piano into like some punk club with a bunch of
other bands playing on the bill, it's not a real comfortable thing to do.

TUSH: The trio is led by Ben Folds, whose twisted lyrics tickle funny
bones, while he tickles the ivory.

BEN FOLDS FIVE (singing): To cheer you up for sure. See, I'm not sure all
I'd be. You're all dressed up like The Cure.

FOLDS: I think what gets noticed the most is the humor. And probably
actually not even the dark side of the humor, I think just the happy part.

TUSH: Ben Folds Five has been together since 1993. Now, finally, critics
are starting to notice them while record executives feed their egos.

BEN FOLDS FIVE (singing): Do, do, do, do, do, do, do.

ROBERT SLEDGE, BASS: It really did snowball into like, wow, you guys are
really cool. You guys are pretty extremely cool, so we'll just -- we'll
bankroll your whole operation and tell you that you're great 24 hours a
day.

I want to start by saying no matter how much they try, CNN reporters just
are not able to be witty...even when Dan Patrick and Kieth Olberman were
CNN reporters at one time or another, they were not funny, and all for one
reason: IT'S CNN! i'm just glad they finally decided to put it on the web
for the world to see and me to post to you. i've been waiting for it.

have a nice day!

Are there any non album tracks on the singles which make it worthwhile
collecting the singles?? I collect Bjork singles and usually the non album
tracks are just as good if not better than some of the stuff on the albums.

Scott
P.S. Can't wait to see them play oct 4.

Hey Everyone

I've just finished the first draft of my BFF page
http://www.iol.ie/~may, and at the moment
its pretty lame, just lyrics and the FAQ, but I'd really like to do more.
If you have ANYTHING BFF related (except sound files..) like pictures,
stories, TABS, Lyrics, links, etc., send it to me (you'll get a mention on
the
"Thanx" page). Also I'd like to do a "People on The Armchair" page, so if
you have
picture of yourself and you'd like in, send it to me with a few lines about
yourself
with how long you've been on the Armchair.

If you send me stuff put "BFF" in the subject field so I know what it's
about!!

Thanks
Paul May
