When you guys are talking about pogoing and identifying yourself as Gen-Xers,
that kinda ticks me off. By saying this you are classifying yourselves into
one group. Nobody says look at those 40 year olds, Gen-Olders. You get my
drift. The only person you are is you. So just be who you are. thanx for
listenin to my non-BFF content.

I know this is close to sacrilege for bringing this up, but it's
something I was wondering: Who's the better pianist, Ben Folds or Tori
Amos? Personally, I think it's Tori, just beacuse she's..... well, for
lack of a better word, insane. Tell em what you think, and I fully expect
to get flamed for this one. Laters!

if you go to the HORDE 97 web site and look up the show you are going to,
it will give you a list of the order of the bands that are playing and
the approximate times they are playing.

i'm gonna be at the HOrde show at vernon downs , NY on AUG. 5. and bff
aren't playing until about 7:30 there. if anyone else is going to this
show let me know and we can run to the second stage between primus and
beck for our sweethearts--- the good old boys on ben folds five!!!

I know a lot of us are only going to see a certain trio at HORDE, but lets
not lose sight of why my fellow neohippies started HORDE: To get people to
branch out in musical tastes. So give other bands a chance, and Before you
say "What is this shit, give me BFF!" recall that not too long ago, all the
jock-rock alternaboys were saying "What is this piano shit?!". (Sure, we
beat the everliving piss out of them for it, but it was a good story up til
then, wasn't it? . . . .just kidding. . . it wasn't that good a story)

Hello friends.
If anyone wants the line-up for the HORDE tour, go to <A HREF="http://www.h
ordefestival.com">www.hordefestival.com</A>. It has schedules by band and
show. I know the Minneapolis show, Ben Folds Five is playing on the second
stage later in the evening. Speaking of Minneapolis, there's a really good
web page called Rock 'n' Roll is Alive and It Lives in Minneapolis. It's at <A

Okay, since so many people are asking, I'll relay my HORDE experience. I saw
them in Portland on 7/13, BFF played at around maybe 6:30 or so, and they
played for a very very very short period of time. the setlist was: One angry
dwarf, fair, Kate, Smoke, Theme From dr physer (pyser? physer?), and
Philosophy. And that's all! i was very angry at the length of the show, and
the string players didn't really add to it, but nonetheless it was a great
show. Robert broke a string during Fair, and so they had to find him a new
bass. Ben talked about stuff while they were working on it. he introduced
the string players, robert, darren, etc. and talked about...well, nothing.
it was great. Fair, Kate, and Philosophy were the best. If you go to see
them at HORDE, my only advice is this: Don't Blink.

Go see the Squirrel Nut Zippers while you're there! they were the best act
there, mostly because bff played for 40 seconds, but still! go see 'em!

Try http://www.hordefestival.com. This has the order of the bands, as
well as the times they are playing.

Subject: fortune magazine article

Hi y'all,

Just checkin' in. Two things of note:

1. In the August 4, 1997 issue of Fortune magazine (with "The New Black
Power" on the cover) is a fascinating article called "The crazy record
business: these prices really are insane," about how Best Buy's low-cost
CDs have sent music retailers into bankruptcy. I recommend it as a good
read, but as a bonus, in the gatefold picture of shoppers at a Best Buy,
two stacks of Whatever and Ever Amen can be seen in the front racks, under
"Alternative Nation."

2. The great Eatontown, NJ, station WHTG, 106.3, added "One Angry Dwarf" to
its rotation. I think they did it a few weeks ago.

OK, that's it. Sorta bland, I know. But when you see or hear BFF, even in a
fuzzy photo in a business mag, you wanna let everyone in on it! ;-)

Have a smurfy day,
Cynthia

first off, i want to inform everyone that i am david shapiro. i've been
on the list for a while, but i just changed e-mail addresses. i used to
be clotho@webtv.net.

second, i want to ask if anyone is going to the indianapolis
(noblesville, actually) horde show on the 25th. i've asked before, and
spoken to one person. if anyone else is going, and wants to get
together, e-mail me please, at this address or clotho@webtv.net. both
addresses work.

third, and most exciting, i got an e-mail from chuck folds the other
day. i was just checking my mail and there it was. actually, it was
his wife rachel. she had come across my website (
http://members.tripod.com/~lastpolka/index.html ) and, seeing that i'm
such a big fan of ben, she wrote me. so i replied, and chuck (really
chuck this time) wrote me back. i told him about me going to see ben
and the boys next friday, and to tell ben to say hi to me if he talked
to him. he's a really nice guy. we discussed his bands and stuff.
oooh. i've been having so many brushes with fame these days. first the
whole nuvo thing and now this ;-)

Hey Everyone-
I just want to say that I have been a lurker on this list for a while
and this is my first post. Now I may be bringing some people some very
bad news so prepare yourselves. I'm from MA and the Horde schedule for
MA has BFF playing from 7:10-7:40! A freakin' half hour!! That's it! I
know that it sounds unbelievable but it's true! I'm sorry that this
news had to come from me, but someone had to tell you guys. But look at
it this way, I half hour with the boys is better than no time with them.
Right? I just wish that they were playing longer! Now I've got a
question for the list. Someone posted something the other day about BFF
having a live album coming out Sept. 1. Is this true? If it is where
can I get some info. on it. Thanks for the help and sorry for the bad
news.

Has the rest of the Australian tour dates been announced yet?? Maybe we

that the spin off tours will be presented by JJJ)
