Just so nobody wastes their time, I called Riverport and asked them. They
told me that no taping of any sort would be permitted. I said, not even
audio. They said no. So while Horde allows taping Riverport doesn't and it's
the venue that makes the final decision. But if you have a DAT Walkman or
somethin small like that...just tape it to the crotch of your underware.
They never pat you there. And if you have some of those really small core
mics, bring those too cause if you just put 'em in your pocket they won't
catch 'em. Just a tip from someone who will want a copy of BFF and Neil
Young. Thanx,
Josh

And here I was thinking that bringing up that question was a bad
move. At least someone appreciated it. I do have to agree with the
prevailing opinion, which is that Ben and Tori are two completely
different artists. I love them both, but in different ways. Anyway, You
can officially shut down the poll for that one. They're different, and
that's the end of it. Now it's time for me to think up another stupid
question like who's the better bassist: Robert or Les Claypool of Primus.
;) JUST KIDDING!!!!

I know Im likely to get very very flamed for this, but I cant
help it :) I think Ben Folds Five would do a spantabulous sounding
cover of Bohemian Rhapsody :) It would be very tongue-in-cheek of
course :> I dunno.

In the July 22nd edition of the Kansas City Star, my BFF-loving Beth
spotted a gorgeous layout on the Five entitled "FOLDS, SPINDLES, AND
MUTILATES" with a huge pic of our intrepid heroes written by Micheal
Saunders of the Boston Globe (assumably this art. might appear in your
hometown due to syndication....) I bought it immediately, of course...
Great stuff! Says a lot about how BFF really attacks all of the "gotta be
cool" principles behind modern rock music with "an organic, earthy feel --
punk's do-it-yourself ethic without the abrasiveness" Ben's quote about
"Kate" -- "Right when we started going out, she said Kate wasn't a name you
could put in a song because it only had one syllable, so immediately I
started writing one to prove her wrong." It also recounts how Ben used to
punch holes in the walls of his house (because of a bad temper) until he
found a stud and broke his hand (happened four times). Finally his mom
told him he'd better stop if he was really serious about piano. Anyway,
you can of course assume I carefully removed it from the paper and will
have it with me tomorrow at HORDE to have signed if possible..???!!
Tori vs Ben? I do play piano, and it although Tori is less chordy, and
therefore easier to pick out, her sensitivity is probably more refined, she
also probably has a more closely tuned singing voice. Because I'm more of
a Ben fan though, gotta go with Ben's songwriting -- no one gets me sad or
ecstatic or excited or calm like Ben. He's obviously got a great feel for
letting everything out and making you understand. (Maybe because I'm a lot
more like Ben than Tori??)
Ben vs that kid from Hanson? Are you kidding? That kid kicks Ben's
ass!!!!
(joking, don't flame me!)
Long post. Will be longer after the show tomorrow, I assure you..... : Þ
  : )
Much love,
Carrie
