Hey all--
I've been out of the loop for a while, so forgive me if all of this has
been covered. I saw someone in the last digest mention Barry Black and
wonder about Ben playing on his album. First off, for those of y'all who
don't know, Barry Black is actually Eric Bachmann (sp?) from Archers of
Loaf (one of Ben's favorite bands, apparently). Ben did indeed play drums
and piano on the first Barry Black album (and Darren contributed drums on
one song), but he IS NOT on the latest Barry Black album. 'nuff said.
See y'all around.

I was just at a BFF Audio Archive with .mp3 files and one of the
sections had two songs from a demo album. Could someone fill me in on
what this is?
Also, I was unsuccessfull in finding any BFF singles in a music store so
it looks as if I'm going to have to order them online. However, the only
single off of the S/T album that they have in the online music stores is
Where's Summer B? Does anybody know where I could purchase the other
singles like "Uncle Walter" and "Underground".
One more thing, does anyone know when the "Brick" single is going to be
released?

i can't believe this is happening to me again.
last winter, rumors passed around that Ben, Darren, and Jesse were coming
to Ziggy's in Winston Salem (NC)... i checked the sources and it was
true... i was crushed to see the absence of a show here in Chapel Hill,
their hometown. it turned out that they actually did come home and play at
the cradle at what was one of the best shows i've EVER seen.
now i see that they are playing at the Ritz... in Raleigh... not in Chapel
Hill. sad...

What I love about my BFF t-shirt is that almost every time I go out,
someone will come up to me and say "Hey, great t-shirt!". I don't get
that from other fans of other bands whose shirts I wear. But then,
the moment is always spoiled by the fact that I'm never expecting it,
and so when they say it and walk off, rather than saying "Thanks" and
having a convo about BFF, I just sort of look like a rabbit in
headlights, and they probably think I've just escaped from some sort
of mental place.....

It's a little off topic, sorry, but, this is the same thing I feel
about Oasis. I don't like their music, I don't like them as people,
but they've become very rich doing what they do. Fact is, I'm just
jealous that they can put so little effort into songwriting yet
become rich from it. Good luck to 'em. If the fans are stupid enough
to buy it.... Right, now I've had my say, we can end this Hanson
debate, before it becomes an Oasis debate.... >8)

So, did all you Aussies out there catch Ben on the ARIA's? (for
those of you who don't know - ARIA stands for the Australian Rock Industry
Awards). What a classic! They must have only just flown into the
country.
Oh, and did you all also notice that Angry Dwarf was played in the
background while Merryl Bainbridge and Rani walked on to present the first
award? Pretty cool.
Well, that's it

In fact, I've had many similar experiences, mainly because I'm usually
the one who's "selfless, cold, and composed." I know, I know, it's bad,
but I'm just being honest. Maybe a certain level of emotional
detachment becomes necessary when one gets dumped a whole lot. Though I
will say, the song is great because (among many other reasons) it allows
those of us who are that way to see the other side of the issue. Just
another reason why BFF have the best lyrics I've heard in a long, long
time.
Also, all of you northeasterners (or anyone else) wanting to go to the
Ithaca show-- I'm an Ithacan myself, get in touch and we'll show you
around town (America's most enlightened city, according to the Utne
Reader) or get you tickets or something.

Subject: bad BFF trader
If Dave Holmstrom is out there enjoying a high quality BFF bootleg that I
sent him, I am a bit curious where my tape is. I have not received the tape
he was to make for me, and it has been months since I sent him his. I have
sent him progressively angrier email over the past couple of months and last
week warned him that if he did not at least reply to one of my messages that I
would warn all of you about him. Any claim to not having that email account
anymore is insufficient, as he has both my home address and phone number. I
don't want anyone else on the Armchair to have a bad experience with this
person, so heed my warning.
I'm sorry that it has come to this (but lately I've been doing fine, how do
you think that I survived....), but I have had many good trading experiences
on the Armchair (though we won't mention the tape tree, and that isn't my
direct parent's fault because he hasn't seen his tape either). I enjoy each
and every tape for which I have traded, with this lone exception. I'm tired
of waiting, and I'm even more tired of being ignored. An email, a snail mail,
a phone call, anything..... would have pacified me. But alas, I must
recommend to you that if a person with this address
'holmstd@ssu.southwest.msus.edu' or going by the name of Dave Holmstrom wants
to trade with you, politely decline (or hell, don't be polite, I don't care).
Let the trader beware I guess.
Live and learn,
Jason Kilts

Hi all. I heard from a friend of mine that BFF are gonna cover Elvis
Costello's "Wave A White Flag" (a "pre-professional" recording that's only
acoustic and available only on the Rykodisc CD version of his 1st album
"My Aim is True", if there are any curious parties or fellow Costello
freaks (hi) out there) and put it on a B-side in the near future. I was
wondering if anyone on the list can verify this because if so, I'd be
totally stoked. I'd be waiting for the single to get shipped to my local
record store the day of release to get it.... Frank? Anyone? Someone
help me out here.

P.S. I'm not gonna discuss the meaning of "Brick" or lament that BFF
isn't playing my area!
