Hi There,
this is my first post so I sure hope I get this right,
any way, I was just so shocked to hear that there is another person in
NZ that is a fan of BFF, all my friends only know of BFF as 'that band
that Brendon is always talking about', but I don't think anyone is going
to come to NZ to do a concert for 2 people.
I've been getting kind of depressed hearing about all these concerts and
everything, knowing I'll get frostbite in hell before I'll see a BFF
concert, that and that fact that ,as far as I know, no radio station in
Christchurch has ever played a Ben Folds Five song.
Complaining aside, I was wondering if anyone could suggest the best way
to get hold of some of this great BFF stuff that I hear so much about
(singles, merchendise, that sort of thing).

Thanks for reading,
Brendon

Isn't the world a wonderful place to be?

Sorry about the non-BFF contents but some
people are stressing far to much, sit back,
look at the sky and remember that sanity is
something only for the sane.

relax my friends

Life is lovely if you live loving.

It wouldn't surprise me if the band were being a tad devious here.
In an article for Q magazine back in January, the band were in
Germany being interviewed by various German journalists. To amuse
themselves during this dull experience, and test if anybody actually
had any idea what they looked like, the band replaced Robert with the
writer from Q, whilst Robert sat in the corner taking notes. And it
seems that no-one knew any different..... So maybe they were just
having a laugh, and the thing spread....

Howdy Folks,
Sombody yesterday asked if any one has anymore Information about
the band "The Amatuer Lovers", and I do....well a little...I have the Cd
"Virgin White Lines" and its on Loosegroove Records. The band is a five peice
outfit, consisting of revolving drummers....2 on the record. The rest of the
band is: Mark Livingston-Bass, Sean Boats-Piano/Vocals (Hence the BF5
comparison) and Scott Clampett:Guitar/Vocals. The Piano is actually a Fender
Rhodes Electric Piano (My instrument of choice, while living in a small
apartment in Boston) The Rhodes has a much differnt sound than a tradional
acoustic piano.....you'll either love it or hate it. (It was the most widley
used electric piano in the 70's....it was on all those Herbie Hancock and
Stevie Wonder records) Anyway, back to the band...they are a west coast band,
as far as I can tell. The record is really, really poppy....almost
embaresingly so. There are some standout tracks....my favorite "Rubik's
Cube", a catchy little ditty about the urges to peel the stickers off the
cube, or take it apart the peices just to win.....Its a life struggle song.
Overall, its a fun record....but hey, Its not Ben Folds Five.....not even
close....

Hope that helped, sorry to ramble.

Gregory the Terrible Eater.

A man on solitary confinement, a pitch black windowless room that only
saw the light three times a day when they shoved his food through a hole in
the door. To pass time, he would pull a button off his shirt and throw it
across the room, Then he would get on his hands and knees and pat every
square inch of the floor in the dark untill he found the button. ....Those
prison people have it too easy, I'm starting a petition to make it mandatory
that prisoners in solitary confinement should be given only buttonless
shirts. I dont pay good tax money so that some guy can play with a button all
day in the dark."

I'm a little behind the times, but about people who "don't know how" to
skank--
There are many different ways to do it. For example:

Salsa Skank (a la King Chango)
Jazz Skank (The Scofflaws)
Skunk (Funk/Skank) (PErFect ThYroID)
Slam Skank (Operation Ivy)
Big Band (Charleston) Skank (Skavoovie & the Epitones)
Jig Skank (Black 47)

Check out all these bands either live or on CD-- demand them at your
local store. They deserve a listen, but unfortunately are not too
widely known because they don't have the million-dollar marketing power
of lesser bands such as the Bosstones, Reel Big Fish, etc.

Now, for BFF content:

The show Nov 2 is at Bailey Hall on campus, and tickets are usually sold
to students first, at a discount. I'll try to get some students I know
to get me tickets-- if anyone else wants to come to Ithaca, I'll work on
getting you tickets too-- maybe we can arrange something. They should
be on sale mid-October (so says Cornell Concert Commission) if you want
to come here and get them yourself. I don't remember the Concert
Commission's number, but you can get it from the Cornell switchboard,
607-255-2000.

You, the Ben Folds Fan, is what keeps my site interesting. I have the first
Fan Story posted on my webpage and I hope after reading it you will add
your own! It is other people's stories which makes our experiences better,
because we can identify with each other! Keep the dreams coming and the
stories. I would also like to take a stab at possibly duplicating Paul May's
people on the armchair page if anyone os interested. He is the man and has
the best page, but I was just thinking along the lines of having a page with
names and cities and email addresses. A little network of fans that can
keep in touch with each other if nearby! So I will not limit this page to
people on the armchair only. I will try and keep it as updated as possible.
Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate the hits. . .

2 of my roommates are married (to each other). Chris (the male) calls
Traci (the female) "chicken" (a play on the derogatory "chick", I
suppose). The 1st time we all heard "Fair" together we, too, did the
chicken squawk vocals. I personally was reminded of Gonzo's ladychicken
(Esmerelda?) from the Muppet Show. I could just envision a field full
of Muppet chickens squawking + bobbing their heads while Gonzo serenades
his lady fowl w/"Fair". What a scene, what a scene. BTW, anyone in the
Seattle area who'd be interested in attending a lounge party @ our house
email me privately.

I purchased my two tickets for the 11/9 show at the Electric Factory
today. I used Ticketmaster for convenience. The two tickets were
$35.50. Ticketmaster's charge was only $5. Last time I saw BFF at the
TLA, tickets were $10. At least it's worth it!
To anyone who hasn't been to the Electric Factory, there is a chain
link fence, around 5' high, that separates people from the stage. I
think that makes it around 10' between the band and us. I was there
over a year ago and that was the set up. I don't know if they allow
recording stuff or what not, but the floor is level and it is basically
just a huge factory room. There's also a bar upstairs and you can sit
up there and get a great view. It also holds about 100 more than the
TLA.

I can't verify that Rush Limbaugh plays BFF on his show, but I think
it'd be kinda appropriate for him to play "Satan is My Master."
