ok, I know it's my third post this edition, I'm sorry, but I promise
this is the last one. And this HAS to be said:

Another reason why we love the wonderful Darren: he is a major part of
the BF5 song-writing talent team!! Where would many of those songs be
without his super-stardom? And I am severly punishing myself for
forgetting to mention him in my post about Brick in the last edition -
both Ben AND Darren should be commended for its creation.

We love Darren, don't we?

Cheers,
Petra

Hi all,

I play this game when I am driving that I make up a sentence to go with
number plates that I see... well, the other day I was driving along and
realized that I have a serious BFF obsession. I saw a number plate, ODA,
and immediately thought One Dwarf-Angry. I could have excused it if the
number plate had been OAD, but well... you get the point! I think some
serious therapy sessions are in order! Anyone know of a BFFA meeting
nearby? Need that 12 step plan ;}

See ya,
Sarah

PS: this may be a dumb question - but where does the quote "shit yeah
it's cool" come from?
>>

Hey Petra,

Great to hear you finally got WAEA....The quote "shit yeah,it's cool" comes
from "For those of ya'll who wear fanny packs" which can be picked up on one
of the "Battle of who could care less" singles. There are 2 different cds,
one has "hava nagila" and "fanny packs" and the other single has "champagne
supernova" and "theme from dr. pyser" on them. They are definitely worth the
ten bucks each if you can find them.

Later all,

I'm going to the EMU show!!!!!!!! Finally, I get to lose my live
performance cherry, so to speak. What's even cooler is yesterday, I saw an
INCREDIBLY beautiful girl down in one of our computer labs, and she was
checking out the BFF site! We started a small conversation, and I found
out she's going too! *begins to radiate an aura of happiness* It's good to
be the king. ;) Oh, and to answer Lucy's question about Ben's religious
preferences, he IS God, so how can he follow anything else? ;) Laters all!

hello folks,

i am a newbie to the armchair (3 days now) and can definately feel a slight
addiction already. it's great to see everyone so excited about young ben and
his travelling piano. (and robert and darren with bass and drums). anyhow,
it was my story that was the first on erik lyons fan stories page. i've read
something about an archive of past issues, if this is true, can somebody tell
me about it??!!?? Also, where is the preshow gathering for Boston on the
4th? talk to you all later.

i do have a few shows to trade if anyone is interested, also if anyone is
doing 2:1's with their bf5 shows, please email me!!

Subject: Airplay

Coming from a town where the radio "station for innovation" plays
twenty-three hours of electronic mu-sick a day, and the other stations
are even more boring, i don't have a clue what's popular, and I was
just curious which BFF songs actually get widespread exposure. I write
this hoping to find that the guys get a lot of airtime, since (as all
Armchairphiles will agree) they deserve it. And I have no fear that if
they DO catch on, their loyal fans won't be ostracized by the
overexposure. BOWCCL, the ONE song I hear on the radio here, hasn't
gotten old-- not even close!!! Thus I conclude that we won't get sick
of them. And if they are really as cool as they seem, hopefully they
won't go changing at the request of their A&R (wo)man.

As for Ben's religion (shouldn't Robert and Darren be included here as
well? They *are* part of the creative unit), the impression I get is
that he's not an adherent to any particular one, but maybe takes cues
from a few different ones to make his own nice-happy view of life. But
he does seem to have some religious background, referring as he does to
two separate traditions (Hava Negila and Klezmer on the one hand,
Christmas and "whatever and ever amen," a slight variation on a
widespread Christian (or maybe just Catholic) phrase, on the other). Of
course, I've never heard "Satan is My Master," so maybe that would win
out.

Finally, thanks to Matt for his reminder about the simplicity of life.
The Armchair has resembled Congress lately, what with all the factions.

With love to all those who love,
Jerry

Ok-2 things correct:Pearl Jam is huge and yes, BFF could easily run a non-TM
tour.
1 thing incorrect:Pearl Jam is not as talented as BFF? debateable. The
obvious is that Jeff Ament is a far and way better bass player than Robert
Sledge. Im not downin on him, but he doesn't do anything that special. Case
in point-he plays nothing as well as Ament and at that...couldn't do it while
jumping through the air. Darren Jesse(while a very good rudamentary jazz
drummer) could never fill in for any one of PJ's drummers. I could roll of
the list but that would be pointless. Ummm...you can hardly compare Ben
Folds' piano skills to PJ but I will say that I believe he is a very talented
pianist. As for vocals...matter of opinion but I like Vedder. Later,
josh

I'm just listening to BFF over and over because I'm too afraid to listen to
the rest of it. It's a stunning production, but I'm just as fond of the
"unplugged" version I heard at their Irving Plaza gig -- in fact, I don't
like the way Darren's (very loungey) voice gets drowned out in the CD
version. Oh, if I ran a record company -- nope, not even close -- I'd
comission "Darren Does Darrin", with Mr. Jessee covering all of Bobby's big
hits -- now THAT would be a lounge-a-palooza!
By the way, anyone else in the tri-state area having a heck of a time just
FINDING Lounga'? The Virgin Megastore looked at me like I was crazy, the
guy at the Wiz said he was sick of people asking for it (especially when it
hadn't arrived there yet), and Tower Records would rather feature the Duran
Duran tribute album (it was bad enough the first time). Where did I find
mine? Barnes and Noble, right across from their "Three Tenors" display. Go
figure.
