To Lucy: I go to a small school myself, unfortunately it's not as
enlightened as yours. Anyway, I LOVE the song Evaporated, it's so achingly
beautiful and I love to listen to it when I'm sad. Anyone else share my
sentiments?

Subject: Atlanta Show, part 1

Hi everyone,

This is a long story, so I put it in two parts, so as not to take up
space.
I went to the Atlanta show, and what can I say---it was great. I can't
remember exactly the order but they started off with Dr. Pyser. Around
the third song Robert came up and said, "Okay, tonight were going to play
all your favorite. . . old. . . Led Zeppelin songs." and then they played
a Led Zeppelin song ( impromptu) and went on with the show. It seemed
that Robert was having the most fun, that night. Darren looked a little
sick, and Ben was obviously tired ( they've been on tour forever now),
---after the show he said he had taken a long nap after there set.
They played all the favorites, except some of the slower, deeper songs
like Boxing, and Evaporated (which has only been played live in concert
once).
Well, let me tell you my story of the night. I had gone with my best
friend, who I hadn't seen in about 6 weeks. She had introduced me to BF5
about two years ago, and just being at the show with her made it so great.
She has turned many of her new friends at school into fans too.
Before the show, we were walking behind the Roxy, and I turn around and
see Robert and another guy walking towards their bus. There wasn't anyone
around. He first started to get onto the bus pretty quickly when he saw us,
but then took a double take and backed up and talked to us for a while. He
said that he recognized us from the Music Midtown show last May.---- We had
talked him for a while that time. We wished him luck, and went inside.
It was so cool because we were probally the only two that went in wearing
BF5 shirts.
We knew how many songs the opening band was going to play and we counted
them down.
	Then BF5 played.

It gets even better, but that's all for now, Bye.

In my humble opinion, WEAEA amen is a much better album. It's
much more polished true, but it's not the slick top 40 crap polish-
they're's still many rough edges that make the album interesting(the
phone, the voices). The songwriting on WEAEA is much deeper and thoughtful. They've also mastered
more tempos. The first album, while good, is just a tad too cheesy. It's
relentless poppy songs sorta blur for me after a few listens(still a
great album though). On WEAEA BFF has added some strings, while at the
same time rocking out much more than they did on their first. Also on WEAEA
it seems many more of the songs have more of a groove and that is part of
great songwriting-finding a groove. Anyway, just my defense of my fave album.

To the Magical Armchair Mailing list, and friends,

Well Here's my story, I got to the Ben folds concert and waited =
near the backstage door for doug or trey to come out, they are the tour =
managers that I was told to talk to. Finally one guy came out that fit =
the description, he ran by me with ben folds! I guess they were going =
to the phone, I stopped him for a sec and asked if he was doug, he =
said, hold on ill be right back. He came back a minute later, without =
ben unfortunatly, and asked me what i had said. I asked him again and =
he said he was Trey, So I was like kool your the guy im looking for. I =
told him I was the guy from the mailing list and was wondering if I =
could get my cast signed, he said sure no problem. Lots of friends and =
family were there that night cuz they are from chapel hill, even bens =
mom came. He said there was a private party afterwards up on the =
balcony, tell the guy trey sent you and if they have a problem to come =
get him, so I was siked. The concert was great they played for two =
hours, all the good songs, The best was stephens last night in town, =
he told the audience that it was his moms favorite part of the show. =
Some dumbass jumped on stage and had to be removed, cuz he did it twice. =
After the show I went upstairs and waited, the secruity gave me shit =
but trey talked to them and told them I was cool. They guys werent =
coming out for a while so I wandered around, then I noticed ben =
standing at the stage door so I went up to him and strted talking!!! We =
talked about a new album coming out next month or so of B-sides and Live =
tracks. It was just a general conversation, I did see his mom, but =
not his wife kate. He then signed my splint Ben Folds, Be Careful!. I =
asked if Darren and Robert were coming out he said they were changing =
and would be out in a bit. Darren was standing just back stage talking =
and I didnt want to bother him, but Robert came down a minute later, (a =
bit tipsy :-) ) with his girlfriend Elizabeth, the girl I wrote the =
email to. We didnt talk much I just told him a great show and he also =
signed my cast. Finally everyone was kicked out cept me pretty much and =
my group of friends, I thought this was now or never so I called over =
to darren and asked him to come out and sign my splint, he was cool, =
came out and I asked him about the funny faces he makes when he drums, =
he just laughed and said thanks, told him good concert, so all went =
well, I can never wear my splint again, cept to show people around on =
campus!!
A great show, and a great time!!! a long trip, I think Ill be =
going again to Richmond now, trey said I could get in anytime ( I =
laugh, thinking he'll proboly not remeber me. ) He's a good guy, and =
deserves my thanks. To all you who went to the Raliegh show, that was =
one of the best shows I've ever seen ben do. and for those who didn't =
go, better get goin to see them, it was incredible!!!!!!
later all
