If the TONY blurb ticked off anyone not familiar with the publication (a
"sloppy" band? With those tight harmonies? Clearly this critic didn't see
them earlier in the year at Irving Plaza -- or anywhere else!), please know
that TONY is snide about everything. TONY provides the best listings in NY,
but the subtext of every review seems to be "stay home!".

I'm attending school in Conway, and I'm looking for other Ben Folds Five fans in this area. Please tell me you exist, I doubt I'm the only one. And for those of you out there, what radio station do you listen to? I have not been able to find a decent radio station, or one that plays the boys? I'm going crazy!

One last thing -- thanks everyone for sharing your stories of the shows. It's nice to hear all about them and the fantastic shows they put on. =) I'm a bit depressed, they are playing Lawrence (near my hometown! yeah!) and I won't be able to go. After hearing what they've been up to lately, I'm sure the show will be great. Oh well, that's what I get for going to school in Arkansas. Thanks again, the armchair brightens up my day!

Tremont show, and you mentioned that you brought your parent (mom?)..were the
little blondie who was at the very front of the stage, with your mom, and a
sweater that you put on the stage in front of the speaker? If so, Hi! I was
the girl right behind you, w/ short brown hair. If not, oh well! It was still
a great show, was it not?! :)

I'm going to the Supper Club show in NYC on Thursday Nov. 6. I've never
seen them before, although I would consider myself a *huge* fan, just
picking up on BFF in the last six months. I'm expecting nothing less than
a terrific show, but I have a few questions regarding the set list. Do they
ever play "Where's Summer B.?" or "Alice Childress?" On the Armchair
postings (of which I'm a recent subscriber) I haven't seen either tune show
up on a set list. Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I'm looking to find someone to carpool from the New Brunswick, NJ area
(Rutgers University) to Philadelphia for the Nov. 9 show at the Electric
Factory. If anyone's interested in coming along for company, I'll drive.
Thanks for the help...

Ok, can someone clarify a few things for me?:

TRAVIS were/are supporting Bf5? is this true?Where? How did that happen?!

WHERE can i get sheet music? If anyone could help, I would love you for
ever and ever (Amen)
What's with the name tag thing? Sounds funky anyway.

>In brick, I am quoting how Ben sang it, "to buy some flowers and sell

That just made me go *ohhhhhhhh*...wow

My mate's dad is a musical director and he gives us like a lecture on what
every bff NOTE is adapted from/ inspired by.... but he does appreciate good
music. (ie he doesn't like Oasis.. heh heh)

While I'm here, how many Armchair people are Spice Girls fans?? ... I
thought not. They make me ashamed to be British (almost) ... at least Ben
Folds makes up for Hanson... :^)

Hey all!

Sorry i've been gone for a few days or i would have posted this much earlier.
This is for all of you who went to the Cleveland halloween concert (and
everyone else too:Þ). As you know from my previous complaints, i wasn't able
to go to this concert because of this band thing i had to go to. My brother,
who isn't nealy as big a fan as i am, ended up going with some friends who
hadn't even heard of BFF. Also, a whole slew of my friends went so i was
feeling EXTREMELY bummed and upset. :(

Now for the main part of this post: After the second song or so, does anyone
remember Ben reading a note out loud that someone threw up to him? The
someone was my very good friend Bridget who knew how devastated i was about
not going. The note said something like "We all love you Ben, especially
Emily who couldn't be here tonight..." and Bridget told me he said "I'm sorry
Emily" or something.

THAT EMILY IS ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

When she told me i freaked out! It was the best thing she could've done for
me! And after the show, she met him for the 2nd time and he said to tell me
hi!! I'm so excited to meet him now! CAN'T WAIT CAN'T WAIT!!!
               (hi andy)

love to all,
Emily

I haven't seen this mentioned before, so i thought you all might like to
know. It's just gonna be a BFF marathon this weekend on TV, with this and
sessions @ west 54th... :-)

also, regarding young people...i am a young person. and i understand that at
concerts the majority of the people yelling "play one somber face and three
hundred angry dwarfs!" are young people. and those people can be very
annoying. but just don't assume that all young people are like that, is all
i'm saying.

I would like to mention my experience at the Cornell show and thank
Elizabeth Hammond for helping me out the way she did. Here's my story...
Someone told me that they would put me on the guest list... The source
was very trustable so I believed this person and went. However, when I
gave my name at the desk they said that my name wasn't on the list. I
wasn't too surprised, but I asked the girl to talk to Doug about it for me.
After a few minutes I heard him tell her that, yes, I did have tickets,
but no backstage. That was cool enough, though. I got to see him again
for free, my girlfriend and I had a great time even after all the hassle of
getting to Ithaca with one hour to spare, and the show was amazing.
The only problem I had was with this one guy who sat in the second
row/center. He danced like a fool, was very disrespectful to Kim Fox, and
was also a real jerk in the bathroom before the show. He sort of took some
of the fun out of my experience, but he couldn't ruin it entirely.
Oh, yeah. I have some really great pictures of the show. I'd like to
apologize to the crew for having to talk to me about my flash in one case.
Let me know if anyone is interested in seeing some of them. I don't have
any pictures of him throwing the bench, but others are very good.

hello all!

well, I just got the lounge-a-palooza cd. oh my goodness...it's some
crazy stuff. before i got the cd, i must admit i had no idea what lounge
music was. i bought the cd not knowing what to expect...what i got was
very, uh, interesting! it reminds me of music from a 50's or 60's sitcom
or something. "i love lucy" and "i dream of genie" came to mind first.

i'm really not sure how i feel about the cd as a whole. "she don't use
jelly" is prettygood, but it was nothing like i expected. i hate to say
it, but i think i like the flaming lips's better...don't get mad at me or
anything; i guess i'm just not a lounge music fan. i did have a good
laugh while i listened to the cd, though. especially when i heard "black
hole sun". whoa boy did i chuckle! my friend who was listening to it
with me did, too.

anyway, that's just my opinion of it...

have a wonderful day,

It's happening folks. I was sitting in my high school french class
(which actually isn't that bad) when I heard two girls near me talking.
Now these two girls are the "cheerleader-type" (popular, overly
friendly, etc.), in fact they are cheerleaders. They were talking about
how they have fallen in love with "that slow song-Brick). Comments about
how it was their new favorite song and so forth were tossed back in
forth and then they started to sing it, getting the lyrics wrong of
course. Now unlike some girl who posted on here a couple months ago
about how she would have to kill all the popular girls if they started
to like "Brick", I'm not having any homicidal thoughts, mainly because I
happen to be friends with these girls. However, it just kind of gives me
a strange sensation seeing what is happening. I guarantee that by the
end of the week they will both have bought WAEA, but I'd also bet that
by Christmas the CD will be collecting dust. I have this feeling because
these are the same type of people who went gaga over "The Freshman" back
in the spring, but haven't mentioned The Verve Pipe since. Oh
well...life goes on.

cheers,
john
