I got free tickets to the U2 concert on Saturday night here in St. Louis...so
I can't stay home for Sessions at blah blah. If there is anyone out there
with good duplication technique for vids (so there isn't degeneration w/ a
little BFF) that would be willing to set something up with me in advance or
not in advance...let me know. I have a couple vids myself and some audio too.
Thanx,

I don't know, but I might have to go to this show too. Problem
being, we Wolverines aren't quite popular down in South Bend, but ah well.
I figure if anything happens, I got you guys at my back, right? Right?!?
;) Oh yeah, as long as we're on the subject of Michigan football, let me
just say this: Excuse me? Spartans? What? Put that in your pipe and smoke
it, Frank Maynard! ;) Anyway, if anyone is thinking about heading there,
and feel like running through Ann Arbor to pick me up or something, give
me a line or something. I've had my first taste, now I'm fiending for
more! Laters all!

Talked to Ben and Robert at the St. Petersburg show and they said they
are definitely putting Dr. Pyser on the next new album (not the Naked
Baby Pictures). They wanted to do it right with the string section they
had at HORDE...which is fine by me! If you haven't heard the KCRW radio
shows they did, you should really check them out (they are in Real
Audio), especially the one with the strings...oh, they'll be in the
studio recording the new album next spring.

just a bit i thought would be interesting.

i thought id throw in my two cents: im not disappointed with the
album at all. sure, i already have stuff like fannie packs and bad idea
(both versions), but its got tons of great stuff, like the 7" version of
jackson cannery that ive never heard, dick holster (whats that? the
song, not the title :P), twin falls, julianne live (think this will be
the funky version? i sure hope so), ultimate sacrifice (i already have
this on a couple of bootlegs but i'll be glad to have it on a cd), tom
and mary (i only have a dub of it), alice childress live, eddie walker i
haven't heard yet either, emaline (with acoustic guitar? kickass),
boxing live...that will kick ass. the only songs i really wish they'd
included are mitchell lane (i have the tape sampler, but im terrified
its gonna get eaten or somthing and i'd like that song on cd as well..i
cant for the life of me find bff singles around here) and THE ROBERT
SLEDGE SEX JAM!!!! :) hehehe....but i guess that would be kinda
impossible if they just made it up last sunday night, huh? :> (btw,
anybody get a bootleg of that show @ cornell? e-mail me if you did)

I was at that show, and amongst the tallest, at 6' 7". I am not sure if
you are talking about me, but I was up close on Robert's side and having a
great time jumping and dancing around.
This is a constant dilemma. I love good live music (BF5, Counting Crows,
DMB, Radiohead, etc.), getting up close, letting loose and having a good
time moving and dancing with the vibe. The problem is that I am acutely
aware that people behind me can't see. I empathize with that, but it's not
like I can just take off my hat and open the view. Some people seem to
think I should go to the back so they can see...
Here is my philosophy: I get there early, pick a place and if you stand
behind me, that is your choice. Par for the course!
By the way, that Boston gig ruled. The boys are evolving and improving the
show. Smoke was spectacular, and She Don't Use Jelly was so creatively
performed. I am going to the Fillmore show on the 28th and I hope they
play Down From Day One or some other unique covers.

Dear Everyone,

I apologize porfusely for causing a scare. This cocky asshole who thinks
he knows everything about GWU's program board and Georgetown's program
board started the scare about the show not being the 4th. However, IT IS
ON DEC. 4. Oh, major DC get together before or after the show for sure.
Anyone have suggestions where? Peace.

Hi everybody!

Well, finally we have the tracklisting from the new BFF Rarities album. And
I have to say that I am quite disappointed with the tracklisting.

The only big surprise is "Dick Holster" a song that has not appeared on the
numerous Demo bootlegs that are around. But where are songs like "Rocky",
"Cool Whip", "Kalamazoo" and "Protection" to name just a few? And was it
really necessary to include the live versions from the Ziggy's 08/95 shows
that have already appeared on the B-sides of their CD singles? And Fanny
Packs? Come on! That is already available on more than one single. But the
biggest mistake in my opinion (as others have mentioned before) is not to
include a live version of "Video killed the Radio star". In my opinion this
is their best cover version.

Don't get me wrong. Of course I will buy the CD the second it comes out.
And if it is only for "Dick Holster" and to have "Emaline" and "Eddie
Walker" on a CD. Just a bit disappointed that the die-hard Fans and bootleg
collectors won't get so much new stuff to hear.

Three Songs for the deserted island:

1. Best Imitation of myself
2. Evaporated
3. Video killed the Radio star (live)

Bye Bye

I felt pretty disappointed by the tracklisting for NBP, but I've
realised that really I haven't got much room to complain. Those
people who bought the singles will only have heard, at most, 4 of
the 16 tracks. You can't really blame the band or the record company
for the fact that you've already heard more of the tracks from the
trading of bootlegs. Bootlegs weren't released by the record company,
and there's nothing wrong with them making money from tracks they
legally own and haven't made use of before. If you're going to trade
bootlegs, especially studio demos, you're going to have to accept
the fact that the record company aren't likely to dig out some
unheard nuggets just because some folks have already got the songs
they wanted to release.
Of course, I'm not saying that we should all stop trading bootlegs
(God forbid), but just that maybe we haven't got much of a leg to
stand on.
Having said that, that's plenty good reason for Caroline to have
included Video Killed The Radio Star and Crosstown Traffic at the
expense of the B-Sides....

Hi, all!

Just a couple of rambling thoughts:

1. The more and more I listen to "Mitchell Lane", the more it reminds me of
a Led Zeppelin-"Rain Song" kind-of-feel. Crazy? Maybe, but just listen to
it...

2. I bought the Travis disc a month ago, and while they're good, they offer
me nothing new or exciting musically.

3. I've known of TMBG for many, many years, but I necer bought anything by
them until last night. Because of all the good things you all say about
bands on here, I investigate them. I love them. Very different, very good.

Keep up the good work!

Oh, yeah! My desert island question isn't meant to be taken so literally.
Who cares about a "three-song tape" or the presence of a walkman? It was
just more fun to write it that way instead of asking, "What are your three
favorite BF5 songs?" Gimme a break, ok? A little creative license...

Which reminds me: if you're trapped in space with only one of the members
of BF5, which one would it be: Robert, Ben, or Darren? How's that?

  Hi Fivers,

I wondwer how many Japanese BF5 fans are in this mailing list
after the mess, but I want to tell you a new CD about
related to BF5 . ( There are more people who are
interested in those information in over the world than
 in my country ....)

Wandering over a CD shop with my friend today, a cd caught my
eye. "BALL & CHAIN " by Bus Stop. I've seen Bus Stop's CDs
in this store ( well, BF5 came to THIS STORE in 1996 ,
so the store is my favorite CD shop ) . They are ,of course,
import CDs from U.S.A..

I'm not sure someone has posted about this CD yet,
but this information may help YOU.

"Ball & Chain" is a debut album for the band in Japan,
 and a best album .

3.5.9.11.13 from the album Miracle Time! 1994
1.2.4.6.8.10.15 from the album Bus Stop 1995

 You know, Bus Stop are;
Evan Olson (vo.g)
Britt 'Snuzz' Uzzell(Vo.g)
Chuck Folds (b)
Eddie Walker (ds,cho)

and in this CD , guest,
Ben Folds (p) 1.5.13.

For Japanese, this release gives a big chance to
meet Bus Stop. But whether they like it or not, the words -
"Ben Folds's brother"- are used in evry article,
CD sleeve ,magazine and ad.

Anyway, it's a great cd (I like Arrow From My Heart,
No One,After This and Draggin' Me Down.) Why don't you
(Fivers in Japan) buy this CD?

Love,
Azusa Motohashi

P.S. I heard that next BF5's single comes in the middle
of Nov. here. It's " Brick".
