Hey youse guys!

Well, i've got a problem, and i was hoping that perhaps some of you
generous elder fans of bff that live in california could help... so,
my friends and i are all 17s and 16s, and the age limit of the El Rey
is 18, unless you're with an adult. I've called them, and they seem
pretty laid back on the policy, but i *definetly* do not want to take
any chances on missing out on our boys... I was hoping that perhaps
we could meet up with some older bff fan, just hing out in line, and
if someone stops us about our age, we could say we're with you... I
don't think we're terribly annoying youngins, besides we like BFF, so
how bad can we be? Also, i've got two extra tickets.... Anyway, if
anyone could help us out, we would be very, very grateful!!

Thanks!
;) aimee

they got to see smoke and we didn't in cleveland, not this time around.
dammit. dammit. dammit. allow me to explain.
that is one of my favorites live. and pyser (on the cd after "naked", with
strings, no less!!!!!!!!!!). and cigarette, the one time i've seen them play
it............
sounds like a very positive review. deserved, i'm sure.

good point, humperdinck. it has been almost all reviews, lately, though i've
been guilty of it too......................no one has called anyone a goat
swoggler in quite a while.

(and did you notice them complimenting our musical taste?----fanatical fans
mouthing all the words............)
question of the day answer. ben. because i was able to meet him, but i have
not yet met the others. and if it was either of them, it might be vaguely
uncomfortable.
any of them would be alright though.....

i get to be the first to comment on brick. an artfully directed and poignant
video. the guys looked way too solemn. and robert in a suit jacket? next
they'll be respectable.......
let the debate rage on.......sigh.
and the cure seems to be dabbling into hallucinogens. oh, sorry......the
tv's still on.......

do you all get 12 of these a day?

In reference to Batman's post from Whitman College...

My condolences to you, brother fiver. I, too experienced the joys of glass
blowing from my easy chair.

However, being fortunate enough to have TWO (the other's KBTC) P.B.S.
stations in the wetter-and therefore better receptive to my rabbit
ears-city of Seattle (not as many yummy onions as Walla Walla),
... I had dreams of joy of seeing the Five taped-live (since they never seem
to be able to find us in person) on 28.

Alas, World Party and Sinead O'Conner were on instead...what's this? -
gasp! (Although I did enjoy Sinead's performance) ...and someone else was
announced for next week.

Ack! this sounds like it rocked. i LOVE the song "ring of fire"! Did
anyone tape it? i have some stuff i'd be willing to trade.

>(at which point a drunk Sigma Nu turned to me and said "Dude, they >are
playing sooo much new stuff." umm-hmmm)

i love drunken frat boys (hi brant!-kidding!) they're just so cute and
amusing. and if you're standing in their front yard without a drink in
your hand, they're better than st. bernards.

which of the guys would i liked to be trapped in a confined space with?
do you even have to ask? The babelicious Darren Jessee, of course! last
night i was watching "sessions" with my roommate sarah, who i am slowly
converting, and she was like "hey, the drummer is cute." i think that
might be the clincher that'll get her to go to the nov. 30th show with
me. but during "Missing the War" i guess she couldn't understand the
lyrics 'case she turned to me and said "what's he missing?" I cracked
up!

caught Brick on 120 tonight. very cool. i liked the blue filter on the
camera, it was a nice effect.

is anyone going to the redondo beach show on nov. 29th? i kinda want to
go to that as well, but i don't have a ride adn don't know anyone who is
going. somebody email me about it!

as for converting people to bff, i've nearly turned the royal crown
revue mailing list into the new ben folds five mailing list. someone
innocently asked if anyone on the list had heard of them. i sure did
give them a mouthful of info. and i know that a few people have bought
their cds solely on my long piosts extolling their virtues. yay! now
people post to the list whenever they see something bff related.

well, i suppose i've taken up WAY too much space onteh armchair. sorry.

Not really an appropriate use for the list, BUT...
if anyone wants to have my Amateur Lovers "Virgin White Lies" for a
$3 US postal money order, just be the first one to drop me a line. I found
the CD in a cutout bin for $.99 and it's just not really my thing, but I'd
like to pass it on to a curious armchair member. I guess the $2 extra
*should* cover my shipping and packaging costs... I'm assuming it'll be
sold quickly so please don't inquire about it after, let's say, Thursday.
Once again, sorry to abuse the armchair like this.

Okay, so, i turned on my local KCPT PBS station to watch "Sessions"
Saturday night, hoping and praying that I would see the guys singing, and
that would make me feel better because i was feeling pretty sick. I had
my VCR set up, ready to record and..... IT WASN'T ON!!!. You wanna know
who was on, WYNONA. Yes, they played Austin City Limits or some country
crap like that. Let me tell you, i was a bit pissed! I don't know what
happened, but i'm calling the station later. Did many other people
experience the heart-break? AAHHHH! I am praying that they show it this
weekend. Sorry to take up the space...I just had to release my anger.

Have a nice day,

Points of interest:

I was SHOCKED (to say the least) to see BenFoldsFive "Brick" on a
compilation CD in the jukebox at a bar I play darts at last week. It is one of
those CD's that says "HITS" on it. While we all know it is a hit, I didn't
realize those who compile those CD's songlists had any brains. Well, I
applaud their insight when making the songlist for the CD. Actually, it is a
pretty good CD. It has a Sublime song, as well as The Sunday's new song
"Summertime" (which is a kick-ass CD for those of you who are thinking
about purchasing it. But on the point of "Brick" being the song, I really wish
there was a more upbeat song by the guys on the box (I prefer faster songs
when tossing the ol spears (darts)).

Sessions was delightful. Remember (for those you disappointed with the
tone-downed version of the guys) that when they taped the show, it was at
the end of the Spring tour and if I remember correctly, one of the guys was
sick shortly before arriving in NY (I think Ben). I remember they even
canceled a show in Canada because of that. But, even having said that, I
think Ben was hilarious during 200 SF/1AD. His, and Darren's facial
expressions simply make the show for me.

I waited up all last night to see the brick video on 120 min last night
(God i must be one big fan), finally it cam on at 1:15am, i like it but
i was dissapointed at the same time...what i didnt like was the harsh
notes coming from Robert's bass, it seemed like some of the time when he
would strike the bass it just sounded odd...what i did like was that all
of them never smiled once during the whole video...it was hilarious to
see 3 crazy guys be serious, but all in all the video was good,
definately one of those videos that everytime you see it on you turn the
volume all the way up. I give it an A-

Jackson Cannery
Philosophy
Julianne
Underground
Best Imitation of Myself
One Angry Dwarf
Fair Brick
Song For the Dumped(during the encore)
Selfless, Cold and Composed
Kate
Smoke
Cigarette
Steven's Last Night
BOWCCL
Missing the War
Dr. Physer
I didn't want to forget what I remembered of the list, so I did that
first. Anyway, the first opening act, Venus Flytrap Girls, were not
very good. The lead singer tried to be Chris Isaac/Elvis. They weren't
horrible, but I wouldn't pay to see them headline. Travis went on next
and I really enjoyed them. They were Scottish and they just had a great
time. They dedicated their first song to Ben, because he had been
trying to steal it during sound check! They were audience pleasers.
Around 10, the show started. It was one of the best live shows that I
have ever been to. It was better than their last show here. Ben was on
top of the piano, which I had hoped he would have done at the last
show. Robert was a RIOT last night. He did this whole "preacher
routine." You had to be there! Ben at one point thought it would be a
cool place to shoot a video(YES!). He thought that people could jump
off the bar and onto the people below. He said that if he could find
someone with BIG HAIR(San thought you'd love this!) with lots of Aqua
Net, then Robert could jump down too. I thought at one point I heard
the Sanford and Son theme song. Anyone else pick that up?
Unfortunately, Ben forgot the words to the "Big Song" so he said he
knows someone has it on tape and they would tried to get a hold of it.
I couldn't believe that he remembered that!
There is just so much that happened that it's hard to put it all down.
I know that everyone who has ever seen them live knows what I'm talking
about. Well, that's it for my review. I'm also deaf in my right ear at
the moment. I stood next to the speakers again. You'd think I would
have learned my lesson!
