Hi,

I've changed my mind about wanting Darren to teach me "Dumped" (if
anyone paid attention to my last post). I'd rather have him teach me
"Steven's", because it's got that "swingers" sort of Big Voodoo Daddy
beat that I love. But hell, if I actually had the opportunity for any
of the Five to teach me any of the songs I wouldn't be so picky.

Thanks for that Courtney. Yes, yes I am a goddess aren't I? :)

Hey guys,
I am currently knee deep in negotiations with my lovely friends at
Sony but it looks like I'm gonna be able to interview the boys in
Manchester on Dec 8th. What I want to do is not the bog-standard
boring interview, more a collection of fan questions... this is where
you all come in. I want you to mail me with any questions you have
and want me to ask. The idea is I'll form a sort of Magical Armchair
interview and the finished product will be posted on my web page
( http://www.geocities.com/hollywood/lot/5009 ). I get final say over
what questions I do ask and please no 'are you really a gay
crackhead' questions.
So dig deep and find out what you really really want to know - if
this works it could be really cool...

cheers
Dave

Subject: an alternative list??

Hey armchairites,

Lately, I have been noticing more and more requests to find an alternative
BFF list and it looks like one is in the works......this list will focus on
three things 1)BFF tape trade info, 2) reviews of shows/albums/boots, and 3)
general (legitimate) info on the band. The list would be sent out a couple
times a week and since it will probably have a small membership base, the
posts can be read for appropriateness before being included. Anything not
deemed to comply with the three subjects probably won't get on the mailer. If
you have an interest in receiving the list, mail Angrydwarf@aol.com with a
message to subscribe. The mailing list will start in a couple weeks depending
upon interest. Just one more thing, this is not intended to diminish the
armchair in any way....I think that it will always be the best source for
info, but for those of us who don't want to necessarily scroll through a
whole armchair to get a couple worthwhile posts......your alternative is
here.

later,

~Scott

>

Hey, what's wrong with moshing?? OK, so it's not exactly appropriate on a
lot of BFF songs, but the select few (SFTD, etc) just demand moshpit
action!! Unless, it's something totally different in the USA.
Also, I've noticed a lot of people go on about BFF gigs being 'seated'.
SEATED?? how can you sit down to listen to the almighty 3? That sounds more
like a kind of easy listening type thing to do.. (sorry, easy listening
fans). Does anyone want to explain to me why moshing means you can't
appreciate the music? (Unless a fat person moshes ON you, and gets all
their mates to join in, in which case i totally understand).

Sorry if I sound ignorant.

P.S Glad to see Tubthumping has been unleashed on y'all... :^) and how
about 'Barbie Girl' for a BF5 cover?

Marc,

I don't think they were incorrectly referring to an album with "Forever
and Ever Amen." That's the name of a country album which I have heard the
Five got the idea for Whatever from. So, read the context around it and see
if I'm right. Otherwise, that's the reason Darren and Modern Drummer don't
get along too well.

Hey Fiving Armfolk,

I just got a letter from the Epic records mailing list saying that the
group will be chattin' away on Sunday at their website along with a live
broadcast in RealVideo of their El Rey Theatre performance in Los Angeles.
(Also in RealAudio.) This oughtta be a trip -- our boys in streaming 15fps
video. You know I'll be there.

Heya. I'm an idiot and never copied down your address for the tape, and now i
can't access the old e-mail and can only get that out of your e-mail
address.. so, if you could write me so i can send you the blank tape, that

Subject: Dreams...or nightmares?

I've seen some other people post their Ben dreams before. Mine was a
nitemare!

See, i've been making all these BFF videos for people lately and sometimes
i come home in the afternoon to take a nap. i leave the video on (cause
there's nothing on tv) and kind of slip into a half-sleep. Well since i was
watching the video when i fell asleep, i had a Ben-dream

In the dream, I was watching a movie on TV with my brother. There was a guy
walking around in the woods and i said "hey isn't that Ben Folds? this must
be the movie he made before he made the band" So we watched and it turns
out the movie (which was called "freak nite"??????) was about a guy (Ben's
character) who was bitter about people having little kids (for some reason,
maybe his parents sucked) and he went around killing little kids. And the
way he killed them was by eventually cutting off their heads and attaching
a spring between their necks and their heads so that when the parents woke
the kids up from what they THOUGHT was sleep, their heads sprung up and
scared the shit out of them! Scary, huh?

In the middle of my dream the phone rang and my heart was beating SOOOOO
hard that I thought it was going to come out of my chest! God, was it
scary. And Ben looked all zombie-like and had blood on his face. He kinda
looked like he did at the Halloween show, with black circles around his
eyes. And everyone in the movie (the adults) were afraid of him so no one
ever did anything about it.

weird, huh?

Subject: new album news.

hey-- you all are great listeners.

In AUGUST i reported on my mini-interview with ben at the KC Horde Fest. He
told me that the new album would be out in January with about 15 songs.
Caroline Records will be producing it, and, depending on the success of WAEA,
it may be out later (they don't want to be their own competitor.)

But, on the 19th, Ben was in Lawrence, and he said it would be out in
February. It's called something like "Love and Kisses" or something and will
contain Eddie Walker, Emmiline, Tom & Mary, Michell Lane, Champagne
Supernova, All Shook Up, She Don't Use Jelly, and some interactive crap with
interviews and videos on it.

Next time, listen better and you'll all have a lot more time to salavate.

This is dave coates, esq. signing off.
