    Help, I'm in a nutshell!

From: "Hannah Kuhlmann"
Subject: my errors

for those of y'all who e-mailed me: thanks for setting this girl straight!
I can't believe I was so far out of the loop on that instrumental album
thing.
Also my sheepish apologies to Raymond, who I ripped on (I was only kidding,
honest!) just *seconds* before reading that it was all a terrible mistake
and he was really sorry about that 642 mess.

To the girl who scored the piano stool at El Rey: How'd you do that? I'm
impressed.

Watching the El Rey show online till 2:30 am caused me to have a *vivid* BFF
dream last night. THe band was filming another music video for Brick in
some residential area, and they needed extras to play hte neighborhood kids.
SOmehow my (real life) 13 yr old brother and Ben's (ficticious) 3 year old
brother got selected, so while they were filming, I got to hang out with Ben
on the set! I was really excited about this, but somehow I never got a
chance to actually talk to him. SO I guess it was pretty anti-climactic.
But it's better than a BFF dream my friend had: My friend dreamed he was in
the audience at the Sessions at West 54th show, and he was taking pictures
of the band. Ben stopped the show and yelled at him for being such a jerk.
THat was the end. what a downer.

I went into Virgin in Oxford St/ Tottenham Ct Rd in London today and
managed to buy a copy of Song for the Dumped with same B sides as
Kate for £4.99, they had about four copies therefore I suggest you
all run out and buy it, if only to widen the amount of space BFF
takes up in your cd collection.

Dans le changeur de cd
MY LIFE STORY- Mornington Crescent
BEN FOLDS FIVE- Song for the Dumped
ROBBIE WILLIAMS- Angels (concession to Christmas)

OK, I have a few things to say etc so this could be a long post,
just warnin' ya.

1) The BFF songbook is definately not available in the UK, I asked
in several places in Meadowhall yesterday and nobody has even
heard of it, let alone found it in their catalogue. That's for the people
who keep mailling me asking about it...

2) Thanks to everybody who sent me questions for the fan based
interview with the boys, I have about enough now but if anybody
else has a few please send it to me anyway but we warned - it's still
not confirmed yet...

3) Is anybody from the UK (obviously) going to the Dec 8th Manchester
gig? If so mail me and we'll try to organise a meet or we could turn up
with the now standard Uncle Walter name tags... anyway if you are
lemme know...

4) Finally you may remember my griping a few weeks ago about how
hard it is for us UK armchairians to get hold of bootlegs and stuff and I
was generally being sulky... well this morning I got a package from the
fair isle of the states from a lovely guy called Eric who had sent me two
tapes jam packed with b sides and demos. This has renewed my faith in
you all (not to mention a nice surprise from postie too) and I would
publically like to thank Eric... cheers.

Thats it, wasn't too long was it?

Hey there Beautiful People!

Jodie Poole from WA, are u there? Could you please e-mail because I
forgot to take down your new address when you put it up on one of the MA's.
I'll send the mail to your old one just in case.

I just have to say that I was mighty pleased that they had the El
Rey show live online. I had a good transmission until the end where I missed
half the encore. I just lover Robert's part in Underground. Best version I
have ever heard. I'd just like to thank inane, Elle and Lemonboy for the
company on ICQ while watching the show.

        Well gotta go...

Hi, all!

I saw the post that Bess left about MTV cutting off "Brick". I saw them do
it as well and only figured that if it were a Soundgarden or Chumbawamba
video, we would have seen the whole thing.

This brings me to the next point: the video for "Brick" seems to convey
that the protagonist of our song -- the male -- is not only singing about
an abortion, but that the abortion is for the 13 year-old girl he
knocked-up. I mean, is it me, or does the girl in the video look extremely
young? Her posing near her little classic banana-seat bicycle only
furthers the image. Truly, I'm confused.

Going to see the boys Thursday -- again! Can't wait!

Nothing much I can add to all the fab El Rey stories. Loved Ben swinging
around the microphone and doing that pelvic thrust bit. Loved Ben and Robert
mixing "A Star is Born" reference with "Star Wars." Loved when Robert did
his "disco diva" thang for "Underground." Loved Ben getting up on the piano
to scream and make the devil/metal signs to the crowd. Yeehaw. They better
be back in February like they said...

Hey!! I'm new to this although I've been a BFF fan for a long time now. I've
seen them in concert five times and I'm going to see them on Dec. 4 in Wash
D.C. for the sixth time. I've seen them in Pittsburgh, Cinncinati, Columbus,
Cleveland, And Philidelphia. I have the bootleg for Pittsburgh but I would
like to get a hold of some other ones especially Cinncinati. If anyone was
there, I was the girl on the piano during the encore. Someone asked about
meeting BFF after shows. All you have to do is wait at the backstage door by
their bus and they'll come out after about an hour or so. They love meeting
their fans and siging things. Just be patient. I've met them after every show
except Cinncinati because we were on a tight time schedule but you can beleive
I'll be at the backstage door in D.C. I have yet to get my picture taken with
Darren and that is my goal this time. Good luck and I'll see everyone in D.C.
If anyone has bootlegs to trade please write to me.

So, this is the first time I have done this. It's interesting because I have
this job, but I spend most of my time doing things like looking at BFF web
pages.

We were at the show in Chicago, and as usual it was amazing. Disco Diva was
in the house. As a result, I had laryngitis.

I am looking for any and all information I can get my hands on. I call it my
obsession.

What is known of the Feb. tour? Anything?

Is Potty Mouth just a web-thing or can you buy a longer version?

Anyway, a bunch of us journalists currently are looking at doing a
fantastic-we-love-Ben-Folds-Five-especially-Darren freelance article because
really they have been overlooked in the right markets. So, if you know
anyone important, let me know because we need all the contacts we can get.

Ok, SOMEONE tell me i didn't imagine it.
Yesterday, I walked into my Maths lecture, and on the whiteboard was
written the chemical element BF3...
I immediately burst out laughing, because didn't someone else on the
Armchair see that and thought it was more literally appropriate than BF5??
The only thing is, on looking back on some of my ancient armchairs, there
was no trace of it!

So tell me someone else has seen BF3, and written about it to the armchair,
or else I'm afraid something strange is happening in my mind, and we don't
want that, do we?

god, what a boring post. Apologies.
