Thanks to everyone who wrote to me about darren's drum set up.
unfortunately I can't write to you all in person (the response was THAT
god; see what grovelling can do for you?) so I'll do it here.

I'm not actually a drummer myself; I just wanted the info for the up and
coming Darren Appreciation page. So while I don't understand all the
groovy drummer lingo you all used I'm sure someone out there will once
it's up on the web site. :)

cheers,

Ben's incredibly talented, and extremely nice, brother is named Chuck
Folds and is in the band Bus Stop, whose albums I highly recommend. He is
also in the band Snuzz, who also put out a great sound (Ben also plays piano
in a song or two on the Snuzz album). Chuck plays bass. He seems to be
a really cool guy, and will cut you and killer deal on his CD's. His
e-mail address (if you don't mind, Chuck) is

Hope that helped!! Trust me, it is an investment well worth it.

Hey kids,
This is the OFFICIAL way to get the CDExtra stuff to work w/your Ben
Folds Five CD:
1) Go to the CDExtra page. It's:
  http://www.cdextra.com/ConnecteD
2) Pick the option "Getting Started." It'll give you the sites to get
Shockwave & CDExtra plug-ins. your stuff. Make sure you put the files in
the right folder!
3) When you go back to the site and click on "Ben Folds Connected," MAKE
SURE YOU CLOSE THE CD PLAYER ICON IN WINDOWS! Otherwise it don't work,
and the program keeps saying "Put the CD in the CD-Rom drive now." (I
think that's the problem our Australian friend was having...)
If any of y'all STILL get stuck, try clicking on "Troubleshooting."
And then you can e-mail w/promises of free bootlegs or tickets for my
services. One question, though: Why not just put the CDExtra info on the
CD itself like EVERY OTHER ARTIST ON THE SONY ROSTER? If the bald guy
from Dog's Eye View can fit 4 live songs on his CD, Ben could at least
have included some farting noises or something.

"Evaporated" without a doubt. I will die believing he (Ben Folds) wrote
that song for me, and isn't that wonderful?
That's the whole point of art - to affect someone so profoundly - for
the observer to be able to relate to the art in such a way - whether it
has a good effect or bad is meaningless - just the relation. And it may
seem silly to consider Ben Folds Five as creating art to some, but they
do. Alright, enough of my artist's spewing...

I fully agree that teeni boppers cannot fully appreciate BFF because they are
not at a mature enough mental capability to completely comprehend the adverse
lyrics that are ben folds five. I feel also that me seeing that children
listen to Tori Amos and Fiona Apple and turn them into pop rock overpublicized
garbage that they really aren't make me ill. If something is not broken I do
not feel the need for the music industry to turn our hallowed music into a
category for children to listen to. I feel to truly appreciate music you need
to understand where the person is coming from. It is a bunch of bull.

Hi to all,
This is my first time writing. Just wanted to ask if anyone caught BFF
on the HORDE tour? They put on a great show, enhanced greatly by the string
quartet. I smiled through the entire set. Afterwards, I got a chance to meet
all of the guys very briefly, but found out that Ben, like me, is a fan of
Loudon Wainwright III (who you should all check out if you're a fan of BFF,
which you obviously are, or else you wouldn't be reading this). Anyway, I got
all of their signatures on the jacket of the Whatever and Ever Amen CD, plus
two of the violinists'. It was a great day.
And to all of you who are dismayed that BFF are making it bigger, WHAT
THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? What is with this inane aesthetic that says that,
if a band makes it, they're no longer legit? Christ, I've been waiting for
Tom Waits to be a household name for years, and still no luck. You should be
glad that the rest of the population is developing a bit of taste, and also
that you're able to share these musical giants with as many people as
possible. Get off your faux-bohemian high horses, and have some fun. That's
what the music's about anyway.
By the way, I'm 38 and a former boxer, which goes to show that you're
never too old to open your ears to wonderful sounds. Take care. "Has boxing
been good to you?"

I'm mortified that I can actually make this correction, but that's actually
the third time we've heard the boys this season.

I must be living in a cave!!! Clue me in on the popularity of Brick.
I've been a fan for some number of years now, don't watch tv or listen to
radio. How popular are they now? Anyway if they do get a lot bigger, I'm
glad I got to see them 2 times in a small club and once at HORDE. Where
I'm from not many have heard of BFF.... but an interesting story: I went
shopping for a car last week, and as I got done test driving a very nice
Eagle Talon, I step out of the car, and low and behold BFF is playing over
the loud speakers.. it was Brick, which I figured a salesman must have
borrowed it from someone, or had it. I guess it was on the radio.. strange!

dammit!! now the little bed-wetters are opperating computers!! Look, the post
on my distain for the little ones at concerts was not intended as an attack on
your characters, in fact, i couldn't care less about your damn maturity. i
look around at concerts and i see a lack of tact.

now, for the youngin's who don't know the definition of "tact" it is,
webster's defines it as: "Acute sensitivity to what is proper and appropriate
in dealing with a given situation....."

the jailbait at the shows just looooove to talk ALL THROUGH THE DAMN SONGS
about how cute the lead singer of "travis" is. let's leave it at this, and
then we shall never speak of this again: Please, if you MUST come to the shows
(y'know, have your parents drive you....), listen to the music and quit
pushing my legs into the stage, as to cut off the circulation. Please don't
blow smoke in my face while attempting to look cool. Please don't tell me
about your life; I don't care. Please, just take in the music and MELLOW out.

i realize this post isn't exactly 'tactful', but, dammit, i get frustrated.
