Subject: lookin for bootlegs

Hi everybody. I'm a long long time fan of the band, but I have a small
problem..... NO BOOTLEGS. Please help me, if there is anyone out there that
can help me out please do, I know we can do business. So anyway if there is
anyone who can help me out than please write me. Oh yeah I'm also looking
for the girl that lives on the same floor as ANDY LANOHA at DAVIDSON
COLLEGE. If you are reading this tell that bozo to write me a ficken email
already. Thanks bye.
ps for all of you that are frustrated that BF5 are getting big, screw you.
This band is so fricken awesome they deserve it more than anybody. They
aren't your own personal band, although I can understand that feeling, and
they deserve all the respect that they are now getting. Personally I'm proud
of the guys and are really happy for them, how can you not want someone to
be successfull, especially a group of guys you all love and enjoy. Okay
that's my schpeel, peace out from the high commander of pimpness.

Subject: Sing along...

You write:

{I mean, come on, BF5 are consummate musicians, granted. But, if you
haven't noticed, THEY'RE FUN. They inspire bouncing and jumping around and
singing along. This is a rare thing, in my opinion. No other band that
I've listened to in the past 15 years has inspired this much FUN. So if
you just want to "sit and enjoy the music", wait until they play the Frank
Erwin Center. Then you can sit in your seat and 'enjoy just listening' to
the band. Until then, leave the Zona Rosa and Liberty Lunch shows to us
young upstarts.}

I personally dissagree with you in that Jumping around and singing along
w/ a band is a rare thing. I see it from die-hard fans at almost every
single concert I go to.

For example at a weezer concert last november (11/96) the whole crowd was
singing along w/ the band. Same thing at the They Might Be Giants concert
in December (11/96) and April (04/97).

I agree w/ singing along w/ the band...it not only shows how devoted in
that you know every single word for every single song the band plays--but
It also gives you the feeling that you have a special affinity with the
band.

see ya

Yes, exactly. BFF is in serious danger of becoming the next Dave Matthews Band
[not that they aren't totally amazing musically, but their popularity has
gotten WAY out of control in terms of the 'teenage/preteen girl syndrome'].
The idea of drunk/stoned 10 year old chicks screaming for Ben [yes the same
ones that scream for those kids in Hanson] upsets me. Although I am a teenage
girl, I hate to be thrown into the same category as [most] of the other
teenagers who only like radio/MTV music (aka Spice Girls,
Chumbawhateverthefuckitis, Puff Daddy, Dave Matthews Band, Hanson, Matchbox 20
etc. etc.). I never even listen to the radio or MTV because, to quote Renton
in Trainspotting, it's "shite!". There is so much more out there to listen to.
Music is much, much more than wanting to 'fuck the life' out of the lead
singer. I am a strong supporter of local and small bands, which tend to be much
more diverse and original, relying on the strength of their music to succeed,
rather than the size of thier chests [see the above reference to 'Spice
Girls']. Smaller bands actually have to work [not that big bands haven't
worked/aren't still working for thier fame]. One of my favorite local bands,
viperHouse has 10 members and they all have second jobs in addition to playing
local bar gigs. They are damn talented, work thier asses off at shows [while
having fun and interacting withthe crowd] and have one of the most impressive
ensembles I've ever seen! But anyways, I won't ramble on forvever. There it
is. My 2 cents.

Megan, 16 years old.

And as to fucking Ben? Well, I think that's a tad illegal. And besides, he is
very married. Also, why would you wan tto fuck some random guy you hardly
know? Hmm...

Subject: Clubs and Stuff

After reading all these postings, I felt as though I must add my two cents
about a few things. First, it does feel weird knowing that in the near future
we may not have that club intimacy that we've been accustomed too. It scares
me to think that I may not always be like five feet away from them or get an
opportunity to talk to them after shows. So, from now on, I think every time
we see them in small settings we should enjoy it that much more, if that's
even possible. :) Secondly...and I think this was discussed a while back,
possibly when BOWCCL came out...by them making it big, they make more money.
This means that when their "time" has come and gone, they will have the funds
to continue making music for those of us who truly love them. So..see this
popularity as serving us in the future. Thirdly..I think age plays very little
role in the obnoxiousness of concert goers..(is obnoxiousness even a word?! )
Yes, I have been to shows where adolescents have been jumping all around and
pushing people to get closer to the stage..but more recently, I went to Pearl
Street and who was attempting to push me from my prime standing space? Middle
aged drunken men. People should treat others at concerts like they would want
to be treated themselves. If you get to a show late, don't try to push others
out of the way to get closer to the stage if they've been there all night. Act
courteous towards others..it's common deceny. And finally...back to the
club/arena issue. Let's use an example..Green Day or 311. At their
conceptions, both bands played smaller venues..clubs..what-have-you..I myself
remember the time 311 played the Student Union Ballroom at UMass. As they
gained popularity, they started playing larger venues..arenas, etc. Now..using
Green Day...with the release of their latest album receiving rave
reviews..they're back to playing small clubs. There's always that glimmer of
hope on the horizon!! Besides..who's to say that the next single released by
the guys will have as much appeal to the masses as "Brick" did? You just have
accept the changes as they come..things cannot always remain the same.

Sarah :)
