Hey Infighting Folders,
As one of the few people on this list NOT in a part of the country
where "Brick" is getting overplayed on the radio (they still think Jewel
is new stuff here... <shudder>), I'm curious about the "Brick" single
mix. I caught the video once and it sounded to me like the main
difference was indeed Robert's bass. More precisely:
1) On the album version there's plucked upright bass throughout the
verses but it's buried in the mix... Most of the low frequencies go to
what sounds like an overdubbed track of BOWED bass (which basically
means the strings are played with a bow, as opposed to the fingers).
2) On the single version, they CRANK that plucked bass and lower the
bowed one. You can really hear it on the 2nd verse and the straight 8th
notes on the chorus.
It also sounded like they took out the annoying "doubled vocal" of
Ben's voice for the chorus. Of course I could be wrong... I only saw the
video once. :)
Oh yeah, the point. Anyone willing to trade an actual CD of the
"Brick" radio single (NOT a tape copy... the physical CD... in a case)
please e-mail me... so all you kids with access to record company
weasels, get cracking. I've got plenty o' stuff to offer in return.

Hilarie asked about any connection or similarities between "Jet" (by Paul
McCartney and his band Wings) and "Kate". First, let me say : HILARIE!
You should have asked me that on the phone today ... now onto the
question: I can see some similar stuff, such as "JET! <whoo-oo-oo> JET!
<whoo-oo-oo> JET!" and "KATE! KATE! KATE!" That's probably about
it...but it's probably the connection your cousin made. "JET! JET! JET!"
& "KATE! KATE! KATE!" I see some similar stuff there, can't you? :)

I'd have to say that if I took anyone I'd take Robert. He seems to be the
wildest of the bunch (just listen to the period of time between Bad Idea and For
All the Pretty People on one of the Kate singles). Oh, and I've met him a
couple times and he's always been really cool.

Is almost a crime, but Ben and his folding five singing it......
might not be so bad. He's got the perfect voice for a kickass edition of
Let It Snow. or maybe Mele Kelikimaka(yes I do own Bing Crosbys Merry
Christmas)
Have they ever performed Christmas music during a show? They do stop
touring around that time, right???
They should release Steven after Brick-its a complete 180 of it and its a
quality song which would be a different sound on the radio. Itd be cool.
I love you all! I love Frank!

Uhm, whoever offered to make a simplified version of the armchair, i think
i'd like a copy. I don't want to miss out on anything while i'm on break
but i don't want my box crammed with MA's while i'm away either.
So if anyone wants to edit all the MA's from Dec. 19 to jan. 15 and send me
a copy, i'd be happy to repay them in some special BFF way :)

My original exposure to Mccartney's "Jet" song was as a cover by
Jellyfish. I suppose the main similarity is that the word "jet" is
repeated in the chorus much in the same way "kate" is.

I'm sure Folds would claim Paul and those other 3 as an influence. Who
wouldn't?

Well if i had to do prom all over again i'd take Robert, because he's just
a doll and a half!

The other day I was midnight Rock 'N bowl and i was thinking "it'd be
really fun to do this with Ben Robert and Darren"

0-oo

I really don't think you can judge someone's comments by their
age-yes I'm 18 and would-with out a doubt-take Ben to prom-he
intelligent, entertaining, and a good dresser-whatever and so-on.

Wow, it's hard to beilieve that Ben and Kate are in the process of getting
a divorce. Not like I know them, but the fact that their marrige didn't
last because of their differences in lifestyles shows a lot about their
relationship. But, I guess show-biz is a demanding career, in which would
affect a relationship-that requires time.

The DC show was amazing, I hope it comes out on video.
I must say that I was bothered by the drunk people who would shout out b/w
songs to be heard and recorded, but I guess that can be erased.
I loved that concert, the environment was astonishing.

Well I would like to see some Ben solo work...some one tell me more.
