Subject: breakup

i know this is off-topic (please forgive me, frank) but there's an
announcement i'd like to make to those of you who know me:

stacy and i broke up a few weeks ago. i would have posted sooner, but i
though stacy was still on the armchair. i talked to her today and she
said she was not.

but i guess this is bff related, a bit, because stacy and i still want
to be friends, and it's hard to find a subject that we can talk about
without emotions getting in the way. so when i talked to her today, i
updated her on all the latest bff info, such as the snl appearance and
such.

so thanks, bff, for being worthy of discussion.

Hi everyone,
Well, to reiterate what Craig said - YES! Brick has been released
in Australia as of last Monday. So everyone ring up or e-mail JJJ and
REQUEST IT!! I haven't heard it played once yet on the radio, and if
anyone can change that, we can! The webpage is
http://www.abc.net.au/triplej - oh, and while you're there, vote for
Angry Dwarf in the Hottest 100.

Oh, and Chuck, I think the video you're talking about is the one that
I sent Elizabeth, and I'm pretty sure its in the PAL format.

Catcha all later,
Jodie

Subject: Where did I first hear BFF?

Hello the 'Chair!

Just a few things:

First off, kudos to Mark for making the Armchair a more comfortable place
to live! If you all haven't read his FAQ yet -- do so! It looks like a
labor of love, and I think it was behoove us to all check it out!

Secondly -- to add to the thread of where did you first hear BFF... Well,
actually, I think I may have a slightly different story than most of you...
See, they sorta crept up on me from behind (you know, like that annoying
guy who always tries to make you jump by shouting "Boo!" when you least
expect it?). I think I probably heard Underground maybe a dozen times in
the course of a year or so... and then, one day, the announcer said: "and
here is Ben Folds Five with Underground." and I thought to myself...
"Hmmmmmmm... That's a pretty cool name for a band." And then I realized
that I had heard and liked this song before. So I really started listening.
By the end of the song I was blown away! At the same time, across town, my
husband was also listening to the same station and heard Underground as
well. That night, he came home with the first album, and that was that --
we were hooked. Now we're addicted, and we've heard the only way to break
this habit is to listen to copious amounts of Celine Dion during the
withdrawal stage. But we know we don't actually have a problem -- we can
quit anytime we want to.

Finally, I am flattered that Marcus finds me funny (hopefully as in "haha"
as opposed to "ummmm, has anyone checked to see if she is taking her
medication every day?). It was quite a shock to see my name in print,
that's for sure! But now -- goshdarnitall -- the pressure to amuse is
intense! And frankly (no pun intended, Mr. Maynard!). I'm really not sure
whether my humorous stories are all that "on-topic" anyway. I am actually
interested in doing some Fan Fiction (humorous, of course)... but maybe I
could get a show of hands to see if that is on topic or off? (You can reply
to me privately positively or negatively if you'd like...)

Well... have a great day! TTFN!

Subject: More Promo stuff for trade...

Hey Folks,

Here's my latest list of BF5 stuff to trade. If you are interested in
any of the following please email me at: MeandMrRay@Aol.Com Let me know which
item(s) you would like to trade for, and what you would like to offer in
return. I'm looking for BF5 material in return, esp. High quality bootlegs. So
here's the latest stuff:

1. Brick radio single: This is the Us radio single, which includes the album
version of Brick, and the Caleb Southern remix. The remix isn't alot differnt,
the drums and bass are mixed much better than the album version.

2. "Mix Tapes a Masterpiece" Promo sampler: Yup, I got my hands on 2 more of
these. Its a sampler of six songs from Whatever and ever Amen. Its all album
cuts, but its got a cool cover, and its pretty hard to come across.

3. Brick Video: I got 2 promo Brick videos. Just a white label promo video,
containing the full version of Brick. If your sick of Mtv editing this 4 and a
half minute video, trade for this...and you can watch it over and over again.

4. B-Sides Compilation: I've added some tracks to my B-sides sampler. I just
got the Japanese Brick single...and I've added the songs to this tape. Heres
the rundown on it:

Side One Side Two

5. I Also have a large list of bootlegs (about 30 dates) for trade.

There it is....Just reply to me, and we can trade. Just to say it again, I
wont take cash for any of these items, cause thats wrong. Trade Only. I'd
apologize for taking up so much room on the Armchair...but theres been so much

Hey everyone!

For starters, I'd just like to wish everyone Happy Holidays! and to all of
you with finals--Good Luck! :)

Well, someone asked how everyone first heard of the guys. I guess the
first time I heard the guys is pretty typical of everyone else. I heard
"Underground" on the radio one October morning, and I fell in love with it
because it made me smile and it made me happy and it just made me want to
dance. I don't know; it was just awesome. I could never remember the
name of the band, but fortunately I have a wonderful brother who knew
about them, and he told me who they were. He had already been to their
concert a short while before. Looking back, I really wish he would have
asked me to go with him to see them, but that's okay. Anyway, he got me
the CD for Christmas, and I've been hooked ever since. Brothers are good.

And as for a prom date, if I were still in High School, I'd take Ben.
He's just such a nice guy, and it'd be fun. Yeah, I know, good reasons,
huh? As minute as they may be, that's all I can think of right now
because my brain is fried from finals...

Also, I, too, am interested in a condensed version of the armchair from
Dec. 19 to Jan. 11 because of Christmas break. If anyone is doing this,
please email me! Thanks!

Well, peace & love, and have a wonderful Christmas or Hannukah or
whatever! :)

Subject: BF5 Concert/mailing list behavior

The first thing that I want to say is that I went to the BF5 concert at
Georgetown University on Dec. 4th. It was so awesome! Especially when they
played "Steven's Last Night in Town", because we were all wondering how Ben
Folds was going to pull it off without the Klezmatiks. In place of the
clarinet, violin and trumpet, Ben played all three parts on his melodica, and
then ran back to the piano during its solos. Very impressive, although I was a
bit distressed at the Steinway abuse. All in good cause, I suppose.
The second thing I want to say is that I completely agree with our little
Armchair mediator. This is not elementary school. No one should have to hound
after you to behave. I mean, really, what's up with this chain letter garbage?
I've been a subscriber to this mailing list for most of its two-year
existence, and I want to continue my subscription. This mailing list is for
our benefit, and it shouldn't be abused. Shape up, people.

Ciao,
Anne.

Does anyone know how to snag tickets for SNL?????

as i sit in my room, trying not to study for my finals...i see my vcr tape
of bff's television appearances. so of course i pop it in because what
better way is there to procrastinate than with ben, darren, and robert.
120 minutes was first and i noticed some things in the two videos they
showed (uncle walter and bowccl), in bowccl, ben and darren trade places,
with ben playing drums and darren playing piano for maybe 10 seconds. i
think they did this just to see if anyone would notice and say "hey,
ain't that the guy who plays that there piana?" well, i noticed. and then,
in uncle walter, when the magical armchair is flying down the street
towards some school girls playing hopscotch, one minute they're twelve
year old girls, and the next (for like 2 seconds), it's darren and robert
wearing dresses. it was the funniest thing i have ever seen in my life.
oh, and by the way, matt pinfield sucks as an interviewer. i watched a
little bit of the first half, where he interviewed silverchair, and he
asked them the same question he asked ben! get a clue matt. anyway,
thought i'd add some positivity. can i also say that i was very glad to
see michael bluejay back because he hasn't posted in forever, and i was
beginning to fear that perhaps he had unsubscribed. congrats michael on
