Thought I'd enter the areana of brick being overplayed....Well in Canada
or at least toronto Brick hardly gets any airplay, but they do play the
video sometimes....The bizarre thing is that every record store has a
review of the album along side the album(tower)or has it displayed in
the "high traffic area"(HMV and Sunrise)...and they have been doing this
ever since the album came out....bizarre eh?....

first of all, would someone with win95 and aol give a step by step
process on how to get the multimedia thing to work?

that dream about bff on regis and cathy lee- sounds like when billy
corgan was on- regis was all cool and yeah you rule, but she was just
pyscho annoying.

ben said they were seperated, not divorced- divorcing takes forever,
especially if you're a rock star, which he kinna is now. i hope they'll
still be tight and all and she wont try o suck him venglefully for his
money- maybe he'll just give it too her if she does- that would be nice.
but the fact that he still plays kate at concerts must say that they
aren't hating each other. who knows, maybe ben will go through 500 girls
in 200 cities on their next tour (he is the man) and then he'll grow old
and go back to kate and his roots for comfort and understanding (and play
tons of shows at chapel hill, carboro, and raleigh!!!!- of course kate
is on the west coast, so nevermind) but dont fret, its all good-
actually no one has fretted- in fact does anyone care?! though the lack
of discussion on it is kinna a sign of respect for their personal lives
that is lacking on listessa, the sp list. well im the 17yrold guy that
heard about it on 88.1 the local station here in raleigh cause he went up
there for an interview before the show at the ritz

one of my 12yrold girlfriends (im a pedaphile, what can i say) taped
them on jenny mccarthy (i dont have mtv)- nobody said anything about that
either. 1angrydwarf- i hafta say i dig that solo- its my fav- whats up
with those random people in background just sitting there?? man, if i was
there my ass wouldnt be stuck to one of those couches, no matter how
'cool' they're designed- and she got the brick video for me- i've been
skipping the brick conversation but i wish i hadn't- that girl looked
young, and the bicycle outside symbolizing youth and innocence,
contrasted with the sadness the girl has... hmmmm, nahh, nevermind- but
my interpretation shifted away from the abortion one i had held to so
hardcore before seeing the video at that girl's house.

Hey Marc, you've gotten to be a pretty popular guy on the armchair. Go you!

As for how I got hooked to Ben and crew, I owe it all to a friend. Sure,
I heard Underground on the radio, and sang along more often then not.
But at that time I didn't even own a CD player, and didn't really buy
modern music tapes.

But last year, just after the Cleveland show date was announced, he
invited me to go. We had gone to the They Might Be Giants show at his
suggestion and had the best time ever (with all our friends of course,
Em). So of course I was ready to go. But first, he loaned me his copy
of WAEAA so that I'd be an "informed" concert goer. I heard it for the
first time and made copies right away. I listened to it so much that it
was completely worn out by the concert. And a week after he loaned me
WEAEA, he loaned me the self titled. I was hooked right then. Oh and
the concert absolutely rocked!!!

Here's a thought about Ben and Kate. Right now, we only have rumors, and
should be careful that we don't turn this into the National Enquirer, as
Chuck pointed out. As for whether the song Kate is any less significant
now, well according to the same rummors, they are only breaking up
because of the differences in lifestyles, with Ben being on the road so
much. I can certainly understand this, and I think that this suggests
that they don't feel any different towards each other and still really
care for each other, so the song means as much as it did before.

Pete

Hey folks,

I was looking through my ISP's webpage, and domains are cheap right now.
I've always wanted a domain name for email for myself. Would anyone be
interested in an email address like benfolds@armchair.com? Or maybe
@benfoldsfive.com? Post and let me know, I may just get one and make it fun
for the whole family....so to speak.

~Jordan
p.s. I'd be giving out addresses to those who wanted them.

So... How I met BFF... I heard "that song" on the radio one time in the
middle of the night and couldn't get it out of my head for weeks. I
didn't know the name of the song, couldn't recognize the voice, and
didn't know the name of the band, but I had to find a copy of "that
song." So I called up three different local radio stations that I
happened to listen to occasionally and sang bits of UNDERGROUND to them
(on pitch; they just didn't think so, because they didn't know the
song). They all thought it was very funny, but none of them knew who I
was talking about... Months later a friend calls me up in the middle of
the night to tell me he'd just heard that song I sang over the radio on
MTV and the name of the band was Ben Folds Five. Of all places to find
my favorite band... it had to be MTV. (agh!) But I have introduced BFF
to everyone I know and they all like them; everyone can relate to them
in some way or other: This is punk rock. This is jazz. This is poetry.
This is raw. This guy is the s*#t on the piano. These guys are real
musicians (what a concept)... It's really unusual for a band to be able
to cross those boundaries like that. It's like a spit in the face of the
industry; they can play, write, and just don't care if they don't fit
into a category. (reference Dead Kennedy's "Pull My Strings")

I do not listen to the radio except by accident. I didn't realize that
DJ's now know who BFF is. Then Whatever and Ever, Amen came out and it
was on the front rack of the store. I am very proud of them. Why
shouldn't a group this good make it? While I still believe that it's
true that most bands sell out to get to "the top," there are still a few
who just can't help getting to the top and being loved because they're
JUST SO DAMN GOOD! And I saw them at the Fillmore last month on the
28th. They're just as good in concert, too, which just re-establishes
the fact that they're musicians. Dubbing and cutting can play piano on a
CD. Ben can play piano for a crowd.

But I have rambled enough...
