Well boys and girls..I just found out this little nuggett of information. My
friend Aaron went to see Radiohead when they did the Live From the Ten Spot
gig...apparently one Mr. Folds was in the audience..close to where my friend
was standing. Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes were there too..but who
cares..BEN WAS THERE!!! In other news....how much do the tickets for their NYC
show cost and when do they go on sale..anyone know? I've finally managed to
scrounge a few people to drag with me to the show, hopefully (I'm crossing my
fingers) and I wanna finish making plans for this thing. Hmm...I know there
was something else too...oh yes. Brick..was it really on at 6 am yesterday
morning? I woke up 16 minutes too late..and wound up knocking a cup of water
all over myself, it was really pleasant. And..I was closing up yesterday at
the store I work in, and the music being piped into the mall was none other
than Brick..truly splendid song to sing down an empty mall while you're going
to make a deposit. Ciao for now kiddies..

'Ello Armchair people,
I'm not sure if anyone has posted about this or not...I found a MIDI
sequence file somewhere online one night. Its a cheesy keyboard version
of Battle of who could care less. I think it (personally) Rocks! If
anyone is interested in hearing it email me and i will send it right
along.
I will quickly add in my 2 cents about the boys popularity...Im happy
for them! But man i cant stand hearing people talk about them like they
are so "new". Ive loved the boys for about three years.Ever since my
friend Nate played underground i was hooked. I also agree that the
radio is playing Brick to death! AND if one more person calls them Bens
Fold Five im gonna SCREAM! ok thats my little opinion. bye for now!

hey guys! well, i was up 6 am day after christmas for two reasons. first off,
it was the day of my driving test so i had to be up bright and early to be
ready. so a great start to my day was to see brick on M2 (what happened to it
being on MTV and VH1?) and then to turn off my tv and put on my radio to hear
brick on 106.3 (NJ station). the deejay said afterwards something about how it
was 6:08 and he sounded so proud of himself for putting on brick right about
6:00...i was laughing. and then i left my house and GOT MY LICENSE!! woohoo!
anyways, gotta run-jess

hi. names nastassja. i havent written on here for a couple of months, so
here i go:
personally im pissed about the airplay of ben---i love ben to death, and it
hurts to think that they may turn into sellouts, and all ill have to remember
of my beloveds are 2 albums. i dont mean to be selfish and say that only a
select few can listen to ben folds five, im just saying that i dont want bff
to turn into another green day. i dont want bff to become part of this damn
paradigm.

As many of you did, I awoke at 10 minutes to 6:00am, the day after Christmas, to
see the Brick video (for the first time). When 6am did come, Brick was nowhere
to be found (except on our local radio station-woohoo). Anyway, after watching
two or three more mtv videos, hoping that my clock was fast, I went back to
bed. My friend told me that mtv did end up playing Brick, around 6:15am. I
thought it was this big thing that the video would be played "6am, day after
Christmas". Oh well. Thanks to my friend who caught it on tape.

Yo, I always be old skool! I got several things Im wondering about.....
How long does it take to get a T-shirt? My computer broke, deleted a lot
of my messages and Lisa(I think) who wrote me about Missing The War,
playing it on the piano, could she rewrite me?
I was listening to the radio the other day, the djs had just played Brick
dj 1-oh, I think that songs going to be a HUGE hit! We need a good ballad
dj2-Yeah, if you were becoming a couple at this time, it could be your
song
me-YOU IDIOT ITS ABOUT ABORTION!!!
dj2-or it could be your song if your breaking up
me-SHUT UP!!! JESUS!!!
then my mom, who had already been going, "so sad, so sad!" during brick,
says."Hey, language, missy!"

The only Ballad??! Obviously this guy is talking out of his ass...just
promoting the band because the boss told him to,but I guess he didn't really
listen to any of their C.D's. That really ticks me off. I'm happy that they
made it on the top ten, though. We're proud of our boys, aren't we? I know some
people don't want to share...that's been the main subject lately with the
whole 'popular' thing. Hey,I don't want to see a one song lovin' fan walking
around in a BF5 t-shirt either,but as long as they keep making music,i'm a
happy girl...even if those geeks annoy the heck out of me!!
Well,I can go on and on but i'll stop here

There *is* hope!!

When CountingCrows were on Live at the 10 spot, first week of november, we
were very (pleasantly) suprised by what MTV *did* broadcast!!! They
broadcasted almost the complete show. Although most TV-guides didn't even
mention it, they broadcasted nearly 2 hours. Only 3 songs were cut out and
replaced by commercials (sadly, these were some of the best songs (rarely
played at concerts etc...)... Raining in Baltimore, Wiseblood) but all in
all I don't think anyone expected that much from MTV so I doesn't have to be
as bad as with Radiohead...
I really don't know who decides on how long these live from the 10 spots are
supposed to be. On what songs get cut. Perhaps we can all try to email MTV
and ask them, BEG THEM to broadcast the whole show????

Ciao,

Karin

whooo-hoooo!

matthew

ps. i confess, the armchair talks are getting monotonous. i haven't even
been here for a year, coming late to the computer party, if you will, and i
don't recognize all the new names. brick, popularity, newbie fans vs old
fans.......and other similar shit.
i too am eagerly awaiting 'naked baby photos'.....i did not get the advance
copy i was supposed to. (my bastard friend kept it for himself......but he
will dub it for me. or lose limbs.)
and i am disgruntled by the fact that there is not a cleveland ohio
date......i was hoping i wouldn't have to do another roadtrip. it makes it
less viable for me to see them when i have to do a 6 hour roundtrip. welcome
to the real world.
and i don't think it matters if you are an old fan or a new fan. that
conversation stems mostly from old fans digging their foxholes for the
popularity fallout season, and new fans defending their inferiorities in the
face of 4 or 5 concerts, loads of b-sides and boots that the older fans have.
my girlfriend is a fan of them, of slightly less than a year. (because of
me.) and she isn't old or new, she is just a fan, with mitchell lane, brick
and evaporated being her faves.
if you loved brick so much you instantly ran out to get all the albums and b-
sides you could find, well, i guess that makes you almost as much of a fan as
me. (well, minus the 4 concerts and 3 roadtrips....)
smile.
if you love ben folds five because brick is such a great "radio friendly" song
and they've replaced matchbox 20 or the spice girls or some other mtv-style
crap as your new favorite band of the month, well...........i'll refrain from
saying what i think about that.
