ok, so I'm sure all of you hate Hanson, but have you really listened to
their music? sure MMMBOP gets annoying after a while but my sister has their
album and I like it. They have some good songs.

Its kind of like a Brick thing. DON'T JUMP DOWN MY THROAT FOR SAYING THAT!!!!!!
I said kind of, sort of a vaguely similar situation. Just people hearing
Brick and judging BFF from that. People hear MMMBOP and judge them from that.

Its not fair to dis Ike, Tay and Zac. I feel bad for Hanson fans, like my
sister.
The three bros are dissed way more than our piano chicos.
Think about how we feel when people dis Ben, Darren and Robert. That's how
Hanson fans feel. Believe me. I didn't like a song on Hanson's Christmas
album and my sis started screaming at me because I was making fun of it.
(the title of the song was "Everyone Knows the Clause" and the lyrics told
us how Santa's "cookies and his milk are his pride")

The Hansons are just three Brothers having fun with the gifts God gave them
and enjoying every minute of life. They honestly don't give a flying
Macaulay Culkin what people think. They understand that in two years, two
months, or two weeks Hanson Mania could end. The boys don't care because
they will have had some beautiful experiences with each other that no one
can take away.

...and they're not sellouts. They are doing all of these things because they
want to.

So lets not judge and be judged.
Let's appreciate everyone's own "thing" as we want our own "things" to be
respected and appreciated.

P.S. Sorry about type-Os and I'm a really bad speller.

funny)
I dont know if us armchairites are a deeper, more understanding group but
the impression im getting from the masses is that ....oh mi god, ben
folds five is already releasing a new album? isnt their old one pretty
new?....brick is really pretty-is "the genral public" understanding that
its a searing, touching(might not be the right word, definetly stirring
up emtions) look at abortion? Im frothing at the mouth for Saturday Night
Live, i really hope they kick your mamas ass, and , of course, Naked(and
famous!) Baby Photos....

i hate these kind of letters, i have always hated these kind of letters.
the kind where people use up a post introducing themself. so, for what
it's worth i am NOT introducing myself... (actually, i would hate this
letter if i read it because i gave an introduction saying how i hate
it....whatever the case:)

i am NOT on the bff mailing list
i did NOT just join this list
you might NOT know me if you have anything to do with the counting crows
mailing list (Prog)
i was NOT wondering if bff listies have a meeting time on irc

ok...i cant take much more of that...anyways im not a newbie to the
internet er anything i have my comfortable place in a couple mailing lists
and have for quite a while now (jewel, counting crows)

i recently started listening to bff a lot...i never really listened to them
until i dont know maybe 2 months ago so i bought their albums and that
hoopla. however, i will probably never reach the near-worshipful state
that many of you seem to have of them :) i like too many kinds of music
and too many bands to revolve all my time around just one...BUT, i do LOVE
the sound of bff and they are definetly in my top 3 bands these days..

one last note...if anyone would want to trade tapes that would be just
lovely...i dont have any bff to offer, but i have nearly 30 counting crows
tapes, 10 or so rem, and a few jewel tapes that i'd trade

Subject: Boring topic but...

I just have to add my thoughts on the whole

- ->popularity = sell out

I don't think that this is always the case although sometimes it is.

Reasons why BFF is not (yet--and never will be)

1)In order to be a sell out you must first have somthing to sell out.
THat means a style, idea, or belief that you hold that is unpopular or
unconventional.
->BFF has there own style that is dissimlar to any other modern
band that I can think of.
2) With #1 in mind, you must then proceed to violate your ideals or style
in favor of more popular or conventional sytles or ideas.
->BFF has of course not changed their style for popularity or
         any other reason
Theres a definiton of what a sell out is.

now, why does popularity not = sell out.

- -> you can rise to popularity with out changing your style.

BFF is the first piano-bass-drum trio I can think of. Therfore, they are
the first in a new style.

-if other bands follow in their footsteps and alot of BFF type
bands emege, then it would be more than reasonable to call them sell outs,
or at least uncreative.

Happy new year everybody.

?any updates on the TBA concerts (e.g D.C, Philla, N.Y, etc.)?

thanks

Blockbuster Music has Whatever and Ever Amen in
their Sound Check section, where you can listen to
it on headphones in the middle of the store. One screw-
up, though...the description calls it Ben Folds Five's
"debut" album.

That thread of thought is just so silly, I have to follow up on
it. ;) Well, at the Ypsi show, when the time came to make our W's, all I
saw were people making the joined L's. Maybe that just might be the
Michigan Uni-Mind sapping us of our free will and forcing us to conform to
the majority, but that's what happened. ;) Laters! Hail Eris!

I don't know if this is considered a rude question or not, but I just
wanted to know if anyone knew how many copies of either of the albums
have sold so far. It's just something weird about me that I'd like to
know how the public is taking to the band now that they have been
exposed. Can't wait for January 10th & then I can't wait for January 13th
& then I can't wait for February 16th (the show at Clutch Cargo's) & then
I can't wait until They Might Be Giants signs on with a new company &
cuts a new album.

Hey everybody. . . I know I'm not supposed to post bootleg requests here, but I
haven't been able to find any body's list of boots that includes the Nov 2 show
at Cornell College in Ithica NY. It's the show where they did Robert Sledge's
Sex Jam. If anyone has a copy of the show, or anything with the Sex Jam on it
(I know it was improv, so that's not likely), would you please e-mail me. I
remember it being really cool live, and sometimes I still get it stuck in my

Okay, I dunno about any of you other MI residents, but I'm
getting really sick of that perky chick who does the recordings
for Clutch Cargo's concert line. I've been calling since late last
month and STILL they aren't giving and info on BFF...up through
Valentine's Day now, just one day further...like it matters anyways.
As if something as ridiculous as an age limit is going to stop me
from getting in and seeing Ben, Darren and Robert. But if anyone
has any concert or ticket information, please do tell!!! If these
tickets get by me because a bunch of Brick-happy Top-40 freaks
are looking for another "cool" concert to go to, I'll not be a very
happy little girl...
Anyone think it'd just be absolutely hilarious if the band
decided
not to play Brick at one of the concerts? Not that I have anything
against it...but I've heard it live before, but this is only my 3rd
concert
and there are so many other songs I haven't heard them play...

Just a thought.

Hello Everybody!

Well, i have noticed some gaping holes in me collection of bf5
appearances, which saddens me greatly. so i'm requesting that all ya
kind hearted souls out there help me out... Here's what i'm missing:
- -the Conan O'Brien Show in 1996
- -Break This on Much USA on sept. 4
- -CBC radio hosts Radio Sonic sept.6
- -interview on MTV2 from last Summer--the one with the Pat Benater video
- -MTV Live dec 19
- -the concert at the El Rey, Nov. 30

So, if anyone has one of these, i would love to do some kind of a
trade, i have lots of stuff to swap. Thanks so much for yer time!

Subject: Are-Oh-Vee's last minute screw-up ("SoCal BFF footage")

Okay, if you were like me, you tuned into Are-Oh-Vee at 1 a.m. (or checked the
tape on the VCR the next morning), only to find a damned infomercial! I had
intended on remaining asleep, but I just wanted to make sure that my tape was
working properly, so I got up to check... good thing! Because I would've
taped the stupid paid commercial instead of Are-Oh-Vee.

It appears there was some last minute screw-up in scheduling on KDOC. So the
infomercial and Are-Oh-Vee got switched, making the music video program come
on at 1:30 a.m. instead of 1 a.m. Grrr!

In an IM to the "AreOhVee" SN:

GenLand18:	I announced this thing to the BFF mailing list and everywhere. Now
I'm writing an apology for the time mix up!
Are Oh Vee:	KDOC screwed up. Our apologys to everyone

So, I hope you accept my apologies as well. Hopefully some of you are
paranoid VCR people and taped for an hour instead of half hour, so you could
at least view the program. =Þ

If you wanted to know, it was just brief clips taken from the BFF promo video,
"A Video Portrait," and footage by the old Chicago broadcast of the BFF
show... I forgot the name, but that's it, I'm pretty sure. It wasn't the El
Rey show or anything, and Robert had shorter hair. Are-Oh-Vee edited it, so
there was:

*brief promo video clip*
Fair
Philosophy
*brief promo video clip*
Last Polka
Kate
*brief promo video clip*
Brick
*brief promo video clip*
One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces
*brief promo video clip*

And all completely commercial free. =) Actually, they haven't shown
commercials on Are-Oh-Vee for a long time..... (?)
