People on the Armchair -

Hi everybody. I'm a brand-spankin' new member of the Armchair and I just
wanted to say hello to everyone. So far, I'm pretty impressed with the
issues I've received. Most mailing lists tend to be comprised of pointless
drivel which has nothing to do with the topic. I'm glad to see the
Armchair isn't like most mailing lists. But I guess that's pretty fitting
since Ben Folds Five isn't like most bands. :) That's all for now, but
fret not, you'll be hearing more from me real soon, I reckon.

Hello the 'Chair!

Well, Happy 1998 to all of you -- hope your holidays were very nice.

Welp... I wanted to share a little story from my New Year's Eve
experience... see, I was skiing at a local mountain in Massachsuetts until
midnight, and there was a great band (bouncy, upbeat, great harmonies)
playing in the bar in the lodge (which was very nice to have as a diversion
while you are trying to warm up enough to go back out on the slopes). So,
we were sitting there grooving and just getting ready to back out, when the
lead singer says: "Here's some Ben Folds for ya..." I thought I was hearing
things, but the band did indeed begin playing Sports and Wine (and very
well, I might add). It was very trippy to hear the song with 2 guitars... I
even called the marketing department the next day to find out the name of
the band (I figure I can support an up and coming band, especially if they
play BFF!)

Without even trying, BFF helped make it an even happier old year for me.
And I think it speaks volumes that BFF is now getting covered...

So, two questions for ya:

1.) Is anyone from Electric Swingset on this list? or...
2.) Has anyone on this list in the Massachsuetts area heard these guys before?

That's it for me... I am outta here!

Again, hope your holidays/new year's celebrations were everything you hoped
they'd be!

Take care, now!

Subject: BFF LIVE in NYC and PHILLY PA

Hi,
Happy New Year:

Could anyone tell me when tickets for the BFF shows in NYC (Feb 20) and
Phillytown (Feb 21) are going on sale? I tried to purchase the tickets
last Friday the 2nd and I was told by the ticket person that the NYC show
might be a MTV Unplugged special. Wow! Great news for the band but, unless
you are shacking up with a Viacom vixen, you have a better change of
getting a job at Jacksons Cannery then getting those tickets. HELP! I
want to go. I need insight. Is there anyone out there that knows?

Thanks,
B

Subject: How Ben has Changed my Work life

Dear Armchairites:
I know that you will probably groan when I say this, but I am going to do
this anyway for the sake of the armchair sticking to Bf5 topics.
Well, in a world of discount retail hell, you work long hard hours over
Christmas and all you get to listen to is that annoying Holiday Cheer music
that has been replayed and reguritated through one's mind over and over until
you find yourself in the middle of the store with tinsel draped all over you
and you are doing the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy to the Hawaiian Twelve
Days of Christmas and you are deludedly singing along, "...and a myna bird in
one papaya tree!!!". This is sick folks.
After Listening to this junk from Thanksgiving Day to New Years Eve,
something had to change!!! I was going insane!!! This constant repitoire of
Awfully redone Christams Carols had taken it's toll and I was going to go kill
some people, but all was not lost.
I walked into work yesterday with my sullen face hanging low, because I
did not want to be there...."Just then it stared in low and then it began to
grow"...my favorite song was on Ames' radio!!! Brick was so cool even Ames
radio could play it. Ever since then I have really realized that Bf5 desreves
the National attention it has gotten.
I just wanted to share my humble story with you. Thanks!!!
