In a message dated 98-01-14 21:42:47 EST, you write:

<< Fleetwood Mac were on Letterman tonight and it made me remember
something I thought of over winter break.
Lindsey Buckingham, Mark Sandman from Morphine and Darren all look like
 they could be brothers. >>

I think it's sorta the same thing with Ben, the guitarist from Counting Crows,
and that guy on Ally McBeal.

Hey guys. Wow...im brand new to this list, but i have posted stuff like 3
times in the last 2 days or somehting like that. But, like most of u, i have
a lot to say. After hearing hopefully un-true news that bf is not coming bsack
to Ohio any time soon, my best friend Leslie(who also subscribes to this
list...) and i have decided to make a road trip. So, we need info. Does anyone
know of anyplaces closer to northeast ohio that thye're playing in besides
Philly? And when is the philly show, or any tohers, and how do u get tickets.
Sorry, im sure u guys have already discussed this, but like i said, im new to
this list, so i missed previous talk. U can email me (SarahBF5) or
Tribefan@nlcomm.com (Leslie) privately please. i would appreciate it SO MUCH!
Also..is there any other people newhere in NE ohio (we r from warren, but
close to loads of places, like Cleveland...) who would like to partake in our
little adventure with us? (just drop me an email..) thanx a bundle guys. sorry
that i cant type.

This is my first post to the armchair and it's going to be short. I'm from
the UK and I picked up NBP on the 15th. I think it's pretty good and Eddie
Walker is the best track,
it just lept out at me. There was quite a good review of the record here
by the Sunday
Express who said " A perfect introduction to one of the most beguilling
songwriters around ". Got **** ( out of ***** ). By the way anyone know
if/when Brick is coming out
over here? Thanks.

Pass me the tissue.

Okay, for some real news. I prematurely regurgitated last weeks chart
standings. I stand corrected. The Ben Folds Flap Five stand firm at 8 on the
modern charts and 66 on the Top 200 albums. But I am sure Frank posted
this already. But, hey, what if he didn't? But what if I ramble uncontrollably
for a while. . .

More exciting BF5 blabber you ask? 'Kay. I was listening to our local station
and they finally played Brick. AND, it scored a perfect score from the
viewers. AND, when they guys come through STL, I am going to throw a
brick through their bus window. Just a little nostalgia for the guys. You see
kiddies, last time they played in STL, someone threw a Brick and busted
their window (it wasn't me, I swear). Okay, I am not going to throw a real
brick, but maybe I'll throw a brick of pot at 'em. . .they might like that noise...
so that's what the damn deal is. . .right Sandi??? I'm killin' myself. . .btw,
was the 10 cent beer of the Papst variety???? Here's a beer taste tip for all
the soon-to-be drunk bf5 fans. . .When beer is stinky and yucky. . .squeeze
a lime wedge in the beer and it'll taste so much more yummy. . .

You know, my friend thought that Ben was imitating G. Love in Fannie Packs,
too. I dunno. Regardless, the first six hundred times I listened to that
song, I about peed I was laughing so hard. There is definitely some Rage
Against the Machine in there, in the squealing bass and unison "fwomp"ing,
plus "bring that shit in!" is a direct quote from one of their songs.

Naked Baby Photos is pretty good. I already had some of the stuff, but it's
good to get the original Emaline and Tom & Mary (the weird grunting noises
at the beginning of that one amuse me to no end). How strange is it to hear
Ben's voice with a wimpy lil' acoustic guitar, though? Listening to Emaline
makes me think I would never have bought a BF5 album if they'd had a
guitar, too. It's an ok sound, but unremarkable. The 3-piece combo is what
really sets them apart. My tuppence...

I like NBP....like it. That's not even close to love. Love is down
the street, drinking a beer with some of its friends while watching
asian action movies. Love is fixing the pay-per-view black box on the
TV, doing its darnedest to get free movies. >>

Dear lord, that's just about the funniest thing I've ever read on the
Armchair, save for Erik's Joygasm's (which I miss, btw). Thank you. I
enjoyed it.

GET OVER YERSELVES
I'd just like to say that I am a little bit tired of hearing people on
the Armchair bash the release of NBP. Can I remind you all that this is
a *FAN* list? We love the Five and anything with unreleased tracks
should be embraced with open arms. So quit yer bitchin' and get over it.

WEIRD DREAM
The other night I had this dream that I was at a Dave Matthews Band
concert at the Schnitzer Auditorium in Portland. And they're playing,
and it's a great show when all of a sudden I hear Dave sing the lyric
"Oh but I send my best. 'Cause God knows you've seen my worst."
And I jumped up on my seat and started yelling "He bit that from Ben
Folds! Biter! Biter!"
It was very odd. I think I need psychological counseling.

Well, I think I've stayed well past my welcome for today.

I think a lot of people have already heard this dirty ditty and knew what
was coming up. When I first played "Ultimate Sacrifice", I heard the line
"Here I sit" and I though "No, he couldn't." Then I heard Ben say "Broken
hearted" and I knew what was coming up next and that it was safe to let out
a chuckle.

Hello my dear dear Magical Armchair readers. I hope this particular digest
finds all you comfortable and doing well. I hope that all of you sick people
get well soon.

I have had my copy of Child Porn, er...i mean Naked Baby Photos (that was a
joke) since Saturday, when i was pleasantly surprised to find it in a "We
Buy/Sell CDs" type of store. But don't worry, NBP was not previously used. :)
I felt honored to own the first copy of it in my town (the store was not in my
town and my town is small but very BFF). But anyway, there have been so many
posts about this new album (that i love every bit of, i don't feel the need to
criticize) so i decided to not post about it (too late for that i guess).

Dang, i use parentheses a lot.

Well anyway...i just wanted to share some ideas i have. You see, this week i
had to be put under the cruel and unusual (well, usual) punishment of 6
semester exams. Over the span of 2 days. Yeah, life's tough. Well anyway...due
to excessive studying...my brain has officially turned into fried eggs. maybe
scrambled. sunny side up, even. All this pain has caused me to produce some
cool thoughts about BFF...since NBP was an essential part of my study
sessions.

Thought #5: Wouldn't it be cool to hear BFF do a song with a female vocalist?
I think it'd be cool if they had a woman sing along with them for one song or
something. Be cool to try anyway. Who would you like to hear accompany BFF?
What song? (don't get me wrong, it's not like Ben Folds Five NEEDS another
person at all...just a thought)

Thought #5: I think Ben Folds Five should put on a show for "The Elite
Members of the Magical Armchair ONLY." And by "the elite" i mean everyone who
is a diehard fan of BFF and who lives for them. It would especially be for
people who haven't gotten a chance to see them (YET, like me) even
though...well...you have no idea of what i'm like. i won't go into it. let's
just say i'm having trouble living a normal life when i just want to be
secluded from the world and become a Ben Folds Five microphone. Am i weird?
Uhhh huhhh. ANYWAY, that concert would rock.

Thought #5: I need a 5th thought don't i? because that would make three 5's.
Well, there you go...my third fifth thought. Actually, there is a bank in
this town called Fifth/Third Bank. No they wouldn't dig this town...

Oh yeah, somebody tell me again, i think i might of missed it: Why aren't Ben
Folds Five coming to Cleveland again? I believe i heard otherwise... :(

There's other stuff i meant to say in this post....but i think it got fried
along with my brain. anyway, i hope you all enjoy your nice long weekend!!!
Keep listening, friends.

Email me if you like a band called The Ben Folds Five.
