I just hear a parody of Brick on the Humble and Fred show on 102.1 in
Toronto. It was about disgraced hockey czar Larry Eagleson. It was called
"Prick." It wasn't very funny. This sort of thing never is.

Robert uses a 1977 (I *think*... or was it an older one?) Electro-Harmonix
'Big Muff Pi' fuzz bass distortion pedal. You probably won't have much
luck finding one, and even if you do, be prepared to shell out cash; they
go for about $150 *used*. They're not in production anymore, either...
Electro-Harmonix went out of business sometime in the eighties, I believe.

If you're interested in finding *any* model of the Big Muff, it may not be
so hard. I can't remember exactly which Robert uses, but if you're really
interested, e-mail me. I've got the information sitting somewhere at home.

Naked Baby Photos. If you look at Darren & Robert, and combine their
physical appearance, you would get Ben. If you don't believe me, look for
yourselves!!!

It *is* reserved seats. I ordered my tickets through Ticketmaster and they
gave me my seat numbers at order time (9th row!!!). However, at other
reserved seat shows, people have pretty well ignored it and stood right up
front. I don't know how strict sercurity will be at the Hammerstein.

I just recently became a fan of BF5 (thanks to a friend), and after joining
the Armchair list, I have a few questions:

1. How old is Ben Folds?

2. What is: WEAEA?

Thank you for answering my questions, I appreciate it.

Hi all! This is my first time posting..but I have been lurking for the past
year or so. My boyfriend told me he heard a BFF song on a Conn. radio
station that was NOT Brick or BOWCCL. I made him listen to every single
song on both CDs. (NO, I haven't gotten NBP yet) Does anyone know if a
song from the new CD has been released??? Anyone else from Connecticut
here? Just curious.

Thanks.

Hello the 'Chair!

I had an epiphany this weekend. I believe that Ben Folds actually is Dana
Carvey... I mean, have you ever seen them both in the same place at the
same time? Seriously... I think it might be.

Also... to whomever told Sandi and Erik to shut up: Good for you! Those
guys should be spayed and/or neutered for taking their nasty, foul
arguments about ice cream cones and lollipops into the Armchair. I
personally thought that bit of madness would end when Sandi stole Erik's
prized stuffed animal collection and began torturing each member of that
close-knit family. I still remember the tears in his eyes as she backed
over a staked out Ricky Raccoon. But I thought they had made up after Erik
had apologized for painting mustaches on all of Sandi's friends in her high
school yearbook. But getting back to my point... why should we have to read
that drivel? What gives? Are they trying to liven up the atmosphere on the
'Chair? Don't they know that this is a place for only gloom and doom?
Shame! Shame on you! A pox 'pon both your houses.

Down with fun! Why should we be lighthearted when the band is so obviously
not? Not since Morrisey's heyday has there been a band that captures
depression so eloquently as BFF does on NBP. I feel Ben's excruciating pain
every time I listen to Satan is My Master. The torture that man feels! And
believe you me, having a demon inhabiting your body is not exactly a
picnic, alright? Obviously, the man sold his soul at some time in the past
(probably for a candy bar, or some little knick knack at a five & dime
store when he was a pre-teen) and is now paying dearly for that small
prize! Beelzebub surely has a devil put aside for him.

Bring it.

so, this is it. i, too, am sick of the off topic posts and the other
crappy stuff on the armchair. so i'm leaving. i figure i can just check
out people's web sites and find out what i want to know. though, i have
only been on here for 6 months, i have been a long time fan of the group
(since 10/95), and i consider myself an avid fan, who likes them for more
than just brick (i know that a lot of other people on here feel the same
way, too, so i'm not dissing all of you). hate me if you want, but i
speak the truth: the armchair has lost a lot of its coolness.

well, so long and long live bf5,

Not sure if anyone will beat me to this, but Hammerstein is both gen.
admission and seated. The floor is general and the balcony is assigned
seats, so if there are seat #s on your tix, it probably means you're up
top. My tix say gen. ad.

If anyone saw the Counting Crows Live from the Ten Spot on MTV, it was
filmed at Hammerstein, so it gives you some idea of the venue.

Ok, I've been saying for a year and a half that Robert looks just like
Peter Brady. Thank you, Hannah, for putting the proof up on the web. I
think the band should just go ahead and cover "Time to Change." I'm sure
Robert could do the squeaky voice thing.

Oh, and I love the Ben Folds Five Charlie's Angels graphic. Don't know
who's repsonsible for it, but it's phat, yo. Kickass.

just wanted to echo the thoughts of Peter Mast (aka Senator Dean
Woodmere) on what makes a true fan. i discovered BF5 shortly after
their eponymous debut through a friend who played me "Underground"
(i am an avid industrial music listener and he thought i would find
it humorous...i did) i subsequently purchased the album and have been
listening ever since as well as turning other friends of mine on to
the BF5 phenomenon. i like having my bands that no one else knows
about (listening to industrial makes that fairly easy) as much as the
next crazy obsessed joker. but i would never begrudge someone i admire
their much deserved success. as long as they keep it real. which i
can.t imagine will be an issue with BF5. end diatribe.

At the risk of having the shit flamed out of me, i don't think "Brick" is as
great as everyone else seems to think it is. Don't get me wrong-- it's a
wonderfully-painted portrait, pretty music, etc, but for my money, there's
much better BF5 fare out there. For slow, thoughtful, wonderfully-painted
portraits, I don't think the boys will ever top "Boxing." As for the "sound"
of BF5, I gotta put "Brick" way down near the bottom of the list, since that
"sound," for me, is represented much better in "Dumped," "Philosophy,"
"Jackson," "Polka," etc....

Or am I an idiot? (BrerL is not allowed to answer that question).

Subject: emaline and a side note (no porn star names, i promise)

Hi.
Does anyone know if there's a single with a recorded version (not live)
of Emaline? I know the Where's Summer B? has it but that's live. I've
checked discographies but haven't found anything.

(Please respond to me, you don't have to crowd up the list with your
response)

That's the other problem. There's too much waste of bandwith lately. 4
long digests, most of which are about crap like porn names and that
someone finally got the nbp cd. I'm happy for you, but it's tiring to
scroll down a digest *looking* for hopefully an important piece of info
when the whole purpose of a mailing list is to post important pieces of
info (about the BAND).
Please, there is a reason people are unsubscribing.
Let's think about these things before we post:
1. Is it relevant to list? Is it about Ben Folds Five?
2. Is it something that isn't already on the FAQ?
3. Will people benefit from this information?
4. Is it something that hasn't been mentioned 16 gillion times on the
list and I'm just throwing in my two cents for the heck of it?

I'm sorry if you think I'm bitching, but I'm trying my best to post as
little as possible too.

I long for the days when Armchairs were short and I didn't delete them
because they were filled with good stuff.

No flames please, cuz you know that'll just make my day.
Janet.
