PLEASE KEEP YOUR POSTS SHORT
Now that many list members are back with us, the volume of posts will
be increasing. This makes it important to stay on topic and keep your
posts concise. Avoid the tendency to ramble, as this increases the
amount of text readers have to wade through. If you want to ramble on,
take it to IRC or the newsgroup.
Also remember to be very selective in your quoting of others'
messages. Don't quote an entire post just to add one or two lines. And
be especially careful not to quote the whole digest!!

To whoever was worrying about the Spice Girls reference on NBP: The Spice
Girls' albumwas available and popular in England for almost a year before it
was released here. In fact, in Rolling Stone's year-end issue for 1996, Gene
Simmons (of Kiss) named it one of his favorite ten albums of 96. Oh Gene, say
it ain't so.
Also - For those interested in the favorite song tourny, I'll conduct it off
the list by individual mail. I'm ready with the first round of matches. It
looks pretty damn cool. If you wanted to participate, send me an empty e-mail
with the subject line BF5 and I'll reply with the match-ups. You can then send
me your picks. I'll post the results of each round on the Armchair, but that's
all. Cool. I hope you all join it'll be a lot of fun. And if you don't, well,
I( guess you'll all know what my favorite BF5 songs are.

We miss BF5 in Australia!!! Anyone know if they're planning on coming
back on tour, perhaps this year?

Seeing as NBP "is not our third album", are they releasing another album
this year? Maybe we can expect a world tour after that.

Conflicting thoughts - half of me wants them to come down here and tour,
but the other half of me wants to tuck them up in bed with a cup of milk
and let them sleep for a week. Touring for that long must suck.

Cheers,

Petra

ALSO: WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THIS?:
on JJJ radio yesterday, after playing Brick, Richard Kingsmill (the King
of back-announce) said "That was Ben Folds, a guy who enjoyed his tour
in Australia so much he came back here for a holiday to drive around the
country." Huh? Wha? Buh? Sna. (anyone know if this info is true?)

HOPE YOU HAD A GOOD HOLIDAY DOWN UNDER, BENNY!!
COME BACK SOON!

check the Triple J website to find out where BF5 came in the Hottest 100
voting competition: http://www.abc.net.au/triplej
(at the moment the countdown's at 60 and no sign of BF5 yet)

Anybody else who reads the Armchair going? Someone else posed this
question a couple of weeks ago and I never saw an answer.

Subject: Fear of Pop; next single

As tempting as it may be to offer my opinion on the state of the attitudes
largely championed in the Armchair, I must refrain. For I would only be
adding fuel to a fire that will never be doused. Thus, I ask questions:

1. When will Fear of Pop come out? Is it complete album of Ben Folds solo
tracks? Will it be distributed via Epic 550?

2. Has it been confirmed that Song for the Dumped will be the next single?
Because if it hasn't, I would not expect it. The language will not pass
even the first round of radio format cuts.

3. Can Kate be released? I know that many of you commented that it already
has been released for radio. However, it never made it to Chicago's Q101,
which leads me to believe that it still can.

4. Are there any plans in the making for Brick to play on Top 40/Mix radio
formats? I inquire because I believe that Modern Rock formats are only the
tip of the iceberg for such a fine song.

Due to some problems at the host site, the Armchair has not been coming
out daily at its usual time of 8:00 PM US Eastern time. I will try to
issue the digest at regular intervals until the problem can be fixed.
