PLEASE KEEP YOUR POSTS SHORT
Now that many list members are back with us, the volume of posts will

take it to IRC or the newsgroup.
Also remember to be very selective in your quoting of others'

be especially careful not to quote the whole digest!!

I must disagree - I love to read about people's BF5 dreams. Better than alot
of the morass that clogs up the list these days. As for "long-winded",
dreams
are fairly low on the list of long-winded posts, in terms of sheer number. >>
I must disagree with you. The dreams are pointless, and a little scary when
you think about it. I mean come on...
If you post anything about your dreams, I'll find you and when I find you I'm
going to shit on your doorstep..dream about that.

hey I was just wondering if anyone on thi slist has ever heard of the
immortal Keith emmerson, master of piano and member of Emmerson, Lake and
Palmer. I think that as a piano player, ben can be compared to whoever,
but as a showman, he is deffinitely taking after Keith, who was famous for
smashing pianos and expensive organs, even moreso than ben, because he used
weaponry and often turned the piano on himself, causing many a cracked rib.
SO, i don't expect many of you to know what i'm talking about (piss off if
you want to flame me) so if anyone agrees, you can e-mail me.

David Holdaway said that he heard Song For The Dumped was
going to be Ben Folds next single.
When they came here they did a bit for a local radio station
about two months ago and they said that their next single
was going to be Selfless, Cold, and Composed. Maybe they
changed their minds. Personally, I think they should just
pull a Radiohead and release every single song.

Hi,
Just a quick question...I was looking through the cdnow website the other
day looking for bff singles and they listed an import CD labeled as :S/T +
bonus track. Does anyone know exactly what this is? (I'm assuming another
version of their self-titled, but I'm not sure) and if it's worth buying.
Thanks!

Ok, listen up all ya'll from somewhere around St. Louis (and everyone
else, too). Since BFF plays here on Feb. 14th, I know that you will
all need a little whetting of your appetites in preparation for the
concert. That's where I come in--I'm the director of an all-male a
cappella singing group (The Pikers) at Washington University. I have
arranged both "Underground" and "Brick" for us to sing. Our big-ass,
bad-ass show (those are definitely the most appropriate adjectives to
explain the show), where we will be debuting these arrangements, will be
the previous weekend, on Feb. 6th and 7th. We'll also be singing about
8 or 9 other songs, ranging from Sublime to Paul Simon to David Bowie.
We're also flying in the Tufts Amalgamates and the Brown Chattertoks for
the show, and they also kick ass. So, if you are at all interested in
coming to the show, or interested in the arrangements, or if you are
just bored, please email me and I will give you the lowdown. Gracias.

My little band here in G-Bury, CT has covered two BFF songs. I have seen how
many musicians we have on the MA, and that got me thinkin'. Wouldn't it be
cool if we put together a tape of people on the Armchair playing BFF songs
with their bands or solo. So, I guess that I would like people to consider
this. I am not saying that I am doing it, but I would like some input. E-
mail me: Qualitease@aol.com
Let's see if this project is feasible. Send any thoughts or comments to me,

I have lots of thoughts on the past few weeks of armchairs:
I love Anne Lyons. I wish she wasn't leaving. Alas...all good things
must come to an end.
All of you people who are bitching about getting 4 Armchairs a day: Is 4
pieces of mail *really* that big of a deal? No. Get over it. I'm on
about 4 mailing lists and together they generate 100+ messages a day and
do you hear me whining?..well yeah i whine, but not about the Armchair.
Okay, SARCASM IS A GOOD THING! Sure, some people are hard pressed to
decipher it in writing, but that's their problem. Those who appriciate
it have gotten a few good guffaws lately (Schindler's List...Ha!).
Whoever's school wanted to use Brick as their prom theme....I weep for
you. I am chilled down to my core. now go beat down the people on the
planning committee and *you* organize prom.
You know, we really *do* know a lot about the Spice Girls (Okay, I admit
it, I went to see Spice World). But I admire them for their media savvy
and being able to cash in on all the idiots of the world.
THE WARZONE THAT IS THE ARMCHAIR:
Okay, I'm not gonna say "Can't we all just get along" because that is
tired and stupid. Obviously we can't. With the recent popularity of
Brick, the Armchair is in a state of flux. There are a number of new
fans who have joined up because of the heavy airplay. Give them a
chance. We were once like them. If they are true fans, we will get past
the (neverending) interpretations of Brick adn they will join out little
fold. if they're in it for the long haul, they will be recognized as
such. And for the ones who are here because of Brick and will
unsubscribe the second it gets played out, so be it.
Let's just try to be more tolerant and not bitch at every newbie because
they don't know some of the old history.
Okay, I think I've sufficiently alienated a bunch of you. so my work
here is done.

station. He's supposed to be getting me tixx to the show at the Palace
from our Sony contact...If you hear a really loud explosion coming from
downtown L.A., that'll be me if they don't come through.

Everyone seems to be talking about the fact that Robert Sledge uses a big
muff pedal. However, there seems to be some confusion about its
availability. The original big muff pedals are now only available as used
vintage effects. However, Sovtek makes a new big muff that uses the exact
same parts as the original. It is available at all Sam Ash locations, the
Musicians Friend catalog, and any other place that can order it. This means
that you can get it with ease. It's not some mystical lost effect produced
by an obscure Russian company operating out of a shack during the
seventies.

Wow, I'm really impressed that <FHudetz@aol.com> actually caught "Bad Idea"
in Schindler's List. I had to rewind the tape to hear in in the background
of that one street scene about an hour in. (please, go get your
video tape and check, it's AWESOME!) Actually, I think "Satan is My Master"
was supposed to be on the Titanic soundtrack - they were going to try and
get Celine Dion to cover it, but she said it hit a little *too* close to
home for her. Damn!

You know what I hate about this list sometimes? How everyone is so
bloody nice to each other, and when they are trying to me nice, they
meekly offer their opinion and then they have to both prefix and suffix
it with "This is only my opinion, please correct me if I'm wrong, please
don't flame me, sorry, my opinion is worthless" etc etc. A little
animosity is good, there is nothing worse than scrolling through 5
digests with people offering wishy-washy opinions because they're afraid
to offend someone.
And now when things are getting interesting (ie there is more than one
opinion floating around, and people aren't apologising for what they
think) others are asking everyone to can it and be nice and sweet again.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking for a flame war, but everyone stop
apologising for the way you think.

Wow... after all these years of people saying "Ben Whatta Huh?" I'm actually
getting, "Cool shirt, going to the show?" and stuff like that... weird.
The weekly Arts and Entertainment section of our local newspaper did a review
of NBP and gave it four stars, impressive. A week later, our weekly published
local paper (so confusing) prints a page article on them. Two good articles in
a week after years of silence!!!
Did anyone else pick up these NBP postcards that they had at Tower music? They
had that picture from inside NBP with them in the car and Ben on the phone on
them? Me and my friend went and took them all... heh heh heh, like a 100+ of
'em, we went back to get more, but they've yet to refill. So check that out,
they're cute.
Opening for them in Portland is Robbie Fulks. Am I dumb, or has anyone heard
of him, and if so, what's the word?
I guess that really that was all that I had to say, oh, and that of course, I
LOVE YOU ALL.... :-) I see them in A WEEK, with the Rolling Stones, Sister
Hazel, Violent Femmes, and Stomp all before that!!! That will really help in
calming the anticipation... at least a little bit... what a kick ass week...
