No, no, no, no!!!!! Please don't start this again! I can't take it!!!!
Oh yeah, one more thing: as much talk as there is about how much the Spice
Girls suck, there sure are a lot of people on this list who seem to know an
awful lot about what they released and when. I don't think I'd be admitting
to knowing any of that information.

OH GET OVER IT! The armchair is a place to discuss ALL BFF songs, not just the
ones you're not sick of. That's pretty selfish.
P.S. (Just to make you mad) I always thought that the girl was a symbol of a
brick tied to the leg of her boyfriend, and she was pulling him down. People
drown from stuff hanging on their legs all the time. I envisioned them
twirling down the toilet for some odd reason. Whoops.

Long-winded Newbie alert (a.k.a., my first post)!
I started listening to BFF when The Battle for Who Could Care Less was
released. I loved that song (still do) for the excellent lyrics and
because it reminded me of a friend and people I knew in college. I was very
reticent to purchase the CD, though, because I had heard nothing else from
them and I have been burned before by purchasing albums because of one song.
Anyway, the burnout at the record store said it was great, so I gave it a
try. Man oh man, was I thrilled. Every few years I discover a band comes
along that renews my faith in modern music. First it was REM (1987), then
Pearl Jam (1991), then Phish (1994), and now Ben Folds Five (1997). I just
wish I could have discovered them earlier. I feel like I have missed
something. I have been listening to all of their CD's almost non-stop for
months. I have been telling anyone who will listen how great their music
is. I need new songs! I feel like a junkie...
Anyone still reading this?
Keith
P.S.: I know it has been discussed ad naseum, but here goes... I think the
phone that rings in SLNIT is a AT&T cordless phone. It sounds just like
mine.
P.P.S.: If anyone knows how I can get 2 tickets to the Chicago show, please
e-mail me (kjfehn@iquest.net). Maybe I'll get lucky and they will add a
show in Indy like last time. That one was never even on the the official
web site until after the fact.

I am so happy to find that brick it is not as depressing as it seems to be.
Thanks, angrydwarf for making the whole brick thing bubble over like that. I
am also tired of discussing brick...I believe you when you say that...

Subject: Yes, it's the same Caroline Records...
<<Hey friends...
So here's a question, since I'm not that huge a Smashing Pumpkins fan
(believe me, this is somehow related to BFF, I promise). I was checking
out my Singles soundtrack (which is pretty damn good, in my humble
opinion) and it says that Smashing Pumpkins appear courtesy of Caroline
Records and Virgin America. Am I correct in assuming this is the same
Caroline Records, or not? Just curious...>>
Someone asked if Caroline Records is the same company that the Smashing
Pumpkins used to be on...It *is*. The Smashing Pumpkins released their debut
album, "Gish," on Caroline in 1991, then signed with Virgin Records and that's
where they've been ever since.
I'll stop now, before going into a long-winded tirade about the Smashing
Pumpkins and Ben Folds Five possible connection/conspiracy/evil plot/whatever.

....... and your Spice Girls and Bricks .....
Possibly old news for some, but I was checking out 'The Onion' the other
day after not reading it for ages, and lo and behold, there was a feature
on BFF. For those who haven't seen it you may like to check it out at:
http://avclub.theonion.com/avclub3117/avfeature3117.html
And to steal a quote from Jordon on the list - normal reading of 'The
Onion' is *not* for the sarcastically challenged :-) Oh, and community
announcement - it is also not intended for readers under 18 years of age
(okay, how many people did I just encourage to go there ......).
As for my other real quick comments:
1) Twas fab to see One Angry Dwarf so high in the JJJ Hottest 100 - I know
I voted for it, but I admit I was surprised to see it do so well (and Ben's
intro was very cool);
2) NBP is great. Particularly love Eddie Walker (sucker for the 'ballad'
tis me ....); and
3) Petra - Ben *was* here on a driving holiday or something. A friend of a
friend of a friend (don't you just love those links .....) met him in
Adelaide whilst he was here.
'Nuff said from me

Subject: BEN FOLDS FIVE TO STAR IN MOVIE!
In the latest move by the media giants at DreamWorks, plans have been
laid out to cast the zany musical trio from North Carolina, Ben Folds Five, in
a new sci-fi action/love story movie. The title has already been agreed to:
White Men Can't Rap. After reading the script, Ben Folds had this to say,
"Shit yea it's cool." Darren simply said, "Oh Goddamn. I saw a Goddamn.
Fuckin' Goddamn." The talented trio inked the $20 million deal on the heels
of the widely released Naked Baby Photos, which contains the theme song,
"For those of ya'll that wear fanny packs" a soon-to-be national rap anthem.
On the love story line in the movie, Darren replied, "I have to call my
girlfriend first."
