TO REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THIS MAILING LIST
Send an e-mail message to armchair-request@maillist.il.fontys.nl with
the word 'unsubscribe' (without the quotes) in the message body. Please DO
NOT POST UNSUBSCRIBE REQUESTS TO THE LIST ITSELF! If you are having
trouble, send mail to owner-armchair@maillist.il.fontys.nl and I
will try to help you. To change your address, first unsub yourself from
your old address, then subscribe using your new account.

LET'S KEEP IT ON TOPIC
Recently some of the discussion threads have wandered off topic,
eliciting posts that have nothing to do with BFF. Even if it's in reply
to something that's been said on the Armchair, keep in mind that if it
doesn't have to do with BFF, it's off topic. The cute banter belongs in
an AOL chat room, not here.
Also please note a couple days ago the item I posted asking you not
to offer bootlegs for sale. I've updated the "charter", so to speak, to
include that. It might be a good idea to review the list of rules for
yourself. To get an updated copy, either visit
http://oeonline.com/bff/list/ or send a message to
armchair-request@maillist.il.fontys.nl with 'intro armchair' (without the
quotes) in the message body.

Completely off the usual subject I know but...

Some friends of mine were talking to Ben a few weeks back after the
Irish gigs they did (Hi Sab, Hi Sarah!), and mentioned the Irish group
The Divine Comedy.. and Ben said he was a fan and owned the albums
Casanova and A Short Album About Love...

plug plug, anyone wanting to know more, come hither..

I suspect that none of our friends in the US has heard of Mr Neil Hannon
before, and you're missing out I tell ya!!

To the guy who posted needing an extra ticket to philly show--they are
still avail through ticketmaster. I just got mine today cause I wasn't
sure if I could go until last night. Is there gonna be a armchair get
together in Philly?

Imaging my surprise when I read this little thread on the Armchair:

<< If you post anything about your dreams, I'll find you and when I find you
I'm
going to shit on your doorstep..dream about that>>

<<P.S. the only shiting you will be doing on my doorstep is when my shotgun
goes
off and blows the shit out of your head, dream about that.>>

Hey, I'm just getting the hang of using a Mac on AOL... Anyway, as I was
saying, imaging my surprise reading this nonsense....

<< If you post anything about your dreams, I'll find you and when I find you
I'm
going to shit on your doorstep..dream about that.>>

<<P.S. the only shiting you will be doing on my doorstep is when my shotgun
goes

What the hell is this mess? I have to be honest here, I am a huge Ben Folds
Five fan, and I love talking to other fans, but the armchair has gotten a
little bit out of control as of late. This little thread really made me want
to find said posters and beat them upside the head with a large piece of
velvetta. Personally, I think posting BFF dreams is a bit over the top, but I
would NEVER post something as utterly stupid as the doorstep comment. If
someone had posted something like that against something I had said, the last
thing I would have posted back is a comment involving a shotgun.

In short, grow the heck up, gentlemen. It's a Ben Folds Five mailing list, not
a picnic in Hicksville.

Moving on... all of ya'll LA fans, if you know where the westwood one studios
are... it might behoove you to mosey on down there the night the band is on if
you're interested in an autograph. Friends have gone there for various acts
and rate it as a great place to meet a band.

Just a hint...

Subject: Documentary?

I just remembered this...when I was at the LA show in November, some friendly
roadie videotaped me after I scored Ben's sweat towel from another roadie who
threw it at my head. He said he was making a documentary of the tour, so I
excitedly babbled on for a few minutes into the camera. Anyone have any idea
what's up with that? Is it anything that may be released to the public? Has
anyone else heard of this?

Thanks,
Megan

Subject: WEAEA modified version

I bought WEAEA just under a year ago, so I got it when the banter between
tracks and the 'hidden track' existed. About a month ago my copy was
stolen. So imagine my dissapointment when I found the new copies didn't
have that stuff on them.

BUT, I went to Sam Goody today to re-buy it and looked carefully at the CDs
they had there. Some of them had been stocked 1/1/98, some just this week.
The two from the earlier date had a slightly different tint to the cover...
anyway, I took the shot and bought an older one. Sure enough, it has all
the extra stuff on it.

Just thought I'd share my success story.

Subject: Don't buy the TotalE tape

Sorry if this has been posted before and I didn't see it, but this is a
warning not to buy the "1994" Ben Folds Five tape from TotalE's web site.
Somebody posted here about it a while back, saying he saw it and asking
if anybody knew anything about it. Nobody did, but I ordered it anyway,
not knowing what it was, hoping to get whatever it was before it was sold
out. Well, turns out it's just the self-titled debut! I thought it
would be something different, since TotalE listed it as a 1994 release,
although the self-titled debut was definitely actually released in 1995,
not 1994. So now I either have to try to return it, or give it away as a
gift.

> The disc is an odds'sods collection from the three-person Ben Folds Five,

> Among the lowlights are lame attempts at spoofing two groups that are ripe

> Folds' funk-impaired rap goes on too long, and he seems to be getting a

> And the hipster attack comes off sounding so smarmy, uninspired and geeky,
