Hi Fivers!
I'm back in the 'chair after a few months cuz I can handle the volume
better than before. Last time I was on, "Brick" had just been announced
as the next single and I was one of those people saying this could be a
good thing. (yeah anyone can say that...it's in the archives
somewhere...) I'm a radio person who knows how the geniouses in this
business work, and I figured Brick had AAA written all over it (which
could get it a free tow :-)) and could cross over. That's not quite how
it happened - guess it started in "alternative" stations, where it bulit
up its boil very slowly, then 550 really started pushing it like crazy
around the first of the year and here we are in #6 range just in
alternative/modern rock. (it's high rotation at The End in Cleveland?
Heh.) This means it hasn't crossed over yet - if you're sick of it on
the radio *now*, just you wait.
Anyway, I join that girl who had one of the digests to herself Feb 2.
I'm happy for them, I welcome the newbies (tho' they should check that
excellent FAQ page, tho some of the vets should too) and let's just ride
this thing out - unless they release "Kate" in the States next and all
hell may break loose. Or if they do in fact go with "Selfless...",
which would be too good to be true, but could also make them seem more
like Deep Sensitive Boys than they already seem to anyone who's just
seen the Brick video. (which btw barely gets played on Muchmusic in
Canada) That's part of the beauty of this kooky business - you can
analyse to your hearts discontent and still not be right about how
things turn out.
I was going to tell a tale of my first few blissful days with NBP in
my possession (some of which I sent to the TPOH Lovelsaves list - hey
Amit! hey Frank!), but I better keep this short like Frank wants it.
Maybe another time.
And I have one ticket of my very own to the Toronto show and it's
mine mine mine mine! Sorry...I'm just too happy to be empathic right
now.
I wanna borrow a mike cable!
   Peace,
   Valerie

Hi
Well, this is kind of my first post (I think this is how you post) and, um . .
. hi. Yeah, I like Ben Folds Five, and I was even planning to get into Clutch
Cargos February 12 to see them live (in Detroit, might I add), but it's kinda
sorta illegal, and, therefore, I didn't. (It's only illegal because I can't
drink yet, so, darn.) They're my favorite group, and I constantly annoy my
friends with WAEA, and have been annoying them since The Battle of Who Could
Care Less was just out on the radio.

Ok, hi, then, introductions over with. Two questions for today:
   1) Did anyone else see them on MTV live a couple of months ago? They played
One Angry Dwarf and Brick, and it was a really good show, though I didn't tape
it (darnit) . . . uh, hint, hint. I also saw a clip of a video for "Brick",
which leads to . . .
   2) Is there an alternate music video for "Brick"? I could have sworn I've
seen two versions, but I've only seen one of each. If there is even two to go
around. Just wondering, I thought I'd saw something somewhere, so . . .

Laura Ricci =)
