Subject: Summer B Lyrics SOLVED!
I just got finished digitizing Summer B, slowing it down considerably,
and filtering out everything besides the vocal track. (Amazing what computers
can do). Anyway...the lyrics are quite plainly "We'll smote a bow-legg'd
whale". And when you play them backwards, they say "Ben is dead, miss'm
miss'm." And I'm not being sarcastic either.

hahaha!!! Folks, i've never really been able to pinpoint the exact moment when
a band has become popular enough that fans become these crazy absurd weird
people, but i think i've found the answer now: When they want to see the males
topless.
WHOO! That is nuts.

Subject: Problems w/ Taping???
Has anyone had a difficult time getting their taping equipment into
a show recently? A friend of mine wants to tape a show, but he doesn't
want to be hassled by security. He consulted the venue and they said
it was OK as long as it was OK w/ the promoter. Is the protocol
still to ask for Doug the Tour Manager if you get hasseled?
Thanks in advance,

Just wanted to let all BFF fans know about Barry Black. I'm sure most
of you already know, but I wanted to post it anyway. Barry Black is a
side project of the lead singer of Archers of Loaf (also from the heaven
we call Chapel Hill, NC), Eric Bachmann. The big news is Ben Folds
plays drums on almost all the tracks! I have the first Barry Black
album which is self-titled, and it is very good. Most of the songs are
instrumental. Just wanted to let fans know.

I(I hope I speak for all) think it's great that the song brick is getting
obviously cool people into BFF. Mabye alot of the oldies(but goodies) on
this list are getting annoyed w/ the "brickheads" and there immature ways,
but it is refreshing to see a post like this.
In otherwords--welcome to the list rachel

THE MONSTERS OF PIANO!!!
Headliner: Ben Folds Five!
Also starring:
Tori Amos
Fiona Apple
Paula Cole
and many, many more!
Wouldn't that kick ass? I would buy tickets. As long as Elton John
stayed home.
- --------------
Okay. Unless you are trolling (which is possible), this show would be
lucky to kick an anemic squirrel's ass. I respect Tori Amos as a pianist
and a songwriter. I vaguely respect Paula Cole as a songwriter, but she
is hardly a piano monster. Fiona, don't get me started on the whiny waif.
Having seen Elton, Ben and Paula live, and tape of the other two
live, I think the ass-kicking order would be: Ben, Elton, Tori-all of whom
would kick a good amount of ass. Paula and Fiona would not kick any
piano-related ass, which is ironic, since Fiona can be quite an ass.
NOW: if you want some ass-kicking piano, dig up people like Greg
Phillanganes, Reese Winans, or Chuck Levell.
You gonna let me in, D?

>the organ sounding thing on the album version of "Smoke" is a clavinet
>(i've also heard people refer to it as a melodica)
Just for clarification, the instrument IS a melodica, a clavinet is an electric keyboard (w/strings) from the '70s that approximates the sound of an electric guitar that's usually played through a wah wah pedal:
Think Sly and the Family Stone or Stevie's "Superstitious"
Just for the record.

Apparently, the band cut that seque from the album. They were about to go
into a snoop dog cover, and you can hear the drumming intro fade away towards
the end of Ultimate Sacrifice.
