Hi
I have ONE ticket to the Washington DC 9:30 Club show available, which I
will be selling for 18.50 (the cost I got it at). I can not give you a
ride to the show, and the only way I can get you the ticket is by
meeting you in front of the club at around 9:00. I don't care to see
Robbie Fulks, but if we set up a time to meet, I will be there. Anyone
interested, please e-mail me

I haven't posted in quite a while. i've been stewing in my juices about
not getting to go to the Palace show. But God bless Real Video,
otherwise I wouldn't have gotten to see the chicago show! booyah!

Anyway..what i really have to say. So I was at the radio station the
other night and I was just about the play a Squirrel Nut Zippers song
from their first album The Inevitable (which is a great album that you
should all get).Anyway, I was looking at the liner nots for the first
time in months, and who's name do I see? Why, the famous Caleb Southern!
Apparently he remixed one of the Zipper's songs Lugubrious Whing Whang.
I was so happy and surprised and astonished.
And for who ever mentiuoned the Mighty Blue Kings show beforeBFF,
whoever has a chance to go..get your self over there! They are great
(more jump blues swing than SNZ, who are more ragtime/hot jazz). they
are GREAT.

Okay, for the L.A./So Cal crowd..I say we band together next wednesday
and try to get into the Tonight Show. All you have to do to get tickets
is to line up that afternoon. I can find out exactly which lot they
shoot at (I do know it's out in Burbank) and we should caravan over
there.
I am still SOOO sad that I missed out on the show at the Palace. Damn my
faulty connections!! Flakes, all of them!! I wanted to party with Adam,
Janet and Sandra, dammit! alas...could you imagine if they ever played
at the Universal amphitheatre? how strange would THAT be?!
well if you guys want to try and make a group effort for Leno, email me
and we can get it all figured out!

Anyone noticing that some radio stations are playing Brick faster than =
it is on the CD? I live in Kansas City and a new station in town called =
102.1 The Zone plays Brick sped up just a bit. Not too noticable to the =
untrained ear, but enough to make the pitch higher and sound like it's =
actually supposed to have some kind of beat to it. Just thought I'd =
bring it up.

Well, I'll make this short and sweet. I had to laugh when I saw that someone
had posted about Robert's right nipple...when BFF played a Live X in Atlanta,
Robert came outside before the show to see about 40 delighted fans (and to get
some wood (?) for his bass) . Anyway, my lovely friend Michelle managed to
get a picture of her, Robert, and me! The whole point of this story is that
Robert was (ahem) nipping out in the picture, as well as throughout most of
the Live X. He's so cute! (And I love his sexy belly.) Too late at night,
me, too late! Oh, they're all wonderful...anyone pick up the new CMJ?
Interesting article...Ben comes off very college radio-y. (And he mentions
Jeff Buckley...twice! RIP, Jeff.)

Toodles!

An interesting tid-bit I want to share....
I was fortunate enough to attend the Late Show with David Letterman, via
the performers green room the other night. Having a friend who works there
is a plus!

Anyway, one of the guests was Mike Myers. Before he went on, the band
played "One Angry Dwarf". Mike got sooooo excited and started to run
around the room hooting and hollering about him and his wife's favorite
band Ben Folds Five, and how incredible it was that they were playing that
song before he came on.

And I must add that his mother in law is the cooolest lady, and is EXACTLY
the same as he portrayed her on SNL (Linda Richards)

Afterwards, talking to my friend who works there, he said that BF5 were a
great bunch of guys and hoped that they would be back in the future. So,
kudos from the Letterman show!

i couldn't believe that those last few of us thru the door actually got
to stand BEHIND Ben...
Anyone else notice his balding-spot? I s'pose it's a rule that all great
pianists must start to go bald at some point in their lives...

They also did this for Weezer's "The Sweater Song", and Ben lipsynced
part of REM's "Man on the Moon" as well...

Hi, Fivers.
Thanks to those who've sent personal support for my sleep-deprived and
hormone-infused Toronto review. The note, I guess, was anti-climatic in
its obviousness and I will consider Yahoo Mail. (Uh-oh, are the
Microsoft spies watching? Uh, I'm just kidding...heh heh. i love
Hotmail, honest!)
Through the haze I did neglect to say Robbie Faulks was a lot of fun
and the crowd really dug him. Also, while I was sort of in the pit
(tho' not enough to my taste, but maybe it was just as well), I didn't
really get the vibe of the whole crowd; but once I did look back around
encore time and it seemed the front third were the only group jumping
around. Oh, well.
Mainly I'm here to pass on a quote or two from the review from Kieran
Grant from today's Toronto Sun, which you can find in full in the Jam
Music section of www.canoe.ca. The hard copy even features a colour
photo of who else but Mr. Sledge in full sing - from this and the
reaction I got for my dazedness, clearly the spell I was under was a
common one , which frustrates me all the more. Anyway, Kieran had
lovely things to say like "Loose as a goose from the get-go, Folds
positioned himself at the keys of his baby grand like a kid who just
skipped his ritalin dose before piano practice." and "There's something
to be said for a band that can have this much fun at the expense of
thsie best work." Grant even mentioned the diva thing, calling it
"impromptu". Brazen hussy has us *all* fooled, eh? Sigh. (Dunno if
the photo's on the site, btw. Take yer best shot.)
Hope to hear all sorts of fabulousness from the Hammerstein.

PEace,
Valerie

Subject: BFF on 102.1 & 6 String Drag

Greetings Armchairians!

Would any of you in the Southern Ontario area have a good recording of
the BFF appearance on 102.1 from 2/18? I spotted one post where the
individual has a so-so recording, but I thought there might be a
better copy floating around out there. Forward replies to my e-mail
address at the end of this post, and maybe a trade can be worked out.

For you listers that enjoy Robbie Fulks, I highly recommend the latest
disc by 6 String Drag called "High Hat". These guys are damn good,
and I suspect they could be on their way to bigger and better things.
Actually, I've heard they are great live, so I'm looking for recent
boot material. If anyone has live recordings of 6 String Drag, e-mail
me to see if a trade can be worked out.

Regards,
Ken McKenna- kennemck@sbservices.com

LOL. Paula Cole's armpit hair policy has always baffled me. Feminism is so
dead. AHHHHHH!!!!!!

I think Darren looks so unique that Dana Carvey is like, "Where did that come
from?" BTW, I was wondering what everyone thought to the CMJ pictures. I
thought they looked kinda bad. Ben kept making *ADORABLE* faces, but Darren
and Robert looked really tired and stuff. Oh well, they are so cute anyway.
I liked the vinyl pants and pink snakeskin boots they put on them. I really
didn't like Darren holding up a pack of Malboros. Why do they smoke? I wish
they would stop. Maybe it's just a stress reliever. But I want their lungs
to be nice and pink. I care about them.
Love and bFF

I for one am happy that BFF is getting recognition. Remember this band has
yet to crack the Billboring top 40 single and Album chart so they are not
going to be the next Usher or Third Eye 20. They are going to still be
ours: a little shy, a little coy and a great little three piece that kicks
 ass >>

You said Third Eye 20. You are very cool in my eyes! Rock on!
I am happy that BFF is popular too, but some chicks in my class started
singing it togther, and I was like, "shut up!"
