I was just thinking a little while ago, remembering when i first head the
great sound of bf5, just thinking about what i first felt when i heard the
great piano. it was just after their first album came out and a friend had
recomended it to me, mike firesheets, now the drummer for the bovine aviators,
which i think is also on this list. . the friend usually knew what he was
talking about so i popped the cd in and simply loved it. then i was thinkin
about how everyone is putting down the newcomers. we have to realize, at one
time we were all newcomers although for some of us that ended a looooooong
time ago, but never the less we were newcomers and there were people who had
heard ben before us and felt the same way we do. i say fuck em anyways! ha ha
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

OK. I'm going to try to write this without crying. Tried to tape 120 minutes
last night (this morning??), but forgot to switch from TV to video. When I
pushed play today all I got was Lord of the Dance (what was previously
recorded) -sob! Anyways, if anyone has a copy, I would pay $ &/or send blank
tapes for it. I have no tapes as I am a newbie (I hate that word!), but I
would appreciate this sooooo much. E-mail me if you're willing & able.
Thanks :)

I really hope somebody can help me out here. I missed BF5 on 120 minutes
this morning at 1-3am, my mom swore it was taping. Now I won't talk to her
at all, it didn't tape. I was so pissed this morning I almost broke a
window when I through the tape. If anybody can please help me get a copy of
it, it would be the best thing in the world. I was looking forward to this
show for like a month. I don't have anything to trade for it, but I would
be willing to pay for a copy if necessary. Please help me somebody!!!

Really desperate fan,

Well, I had the misfortune to go to our school's Snowcoming dance last
night. I remember why I loathe school dances so much. Not only the fact
you stand around & listen to music that sucks (well, at least to me
anyway), not just becuase the punch taste a litlle more watered down
every year, not just becuase the DJs seem more & more annoying, or
because I had to go with someone I didn't like. I guess it's becuase
they're so damn *chic*. Everyone who's anyone at our school goes to these
things. what was I doing there? I really have no idea. I should've been
home watching The Simpsons & having a better time than I ended up having
at the dance. But that's beside the point.
The DJ did his rounds, played Puffy (ugh), Spice Girls (ugh), some other
R & B crap not worth mentioning, then they play the muzak station the
school pumps in the hallways in the morning & during breaks, with the
soothing tunes of Kenny G & his likes on it. Guess what comes on? Yup.
You guessed right. Briiiiiiiccccckkkkkkkkk..... It was enough to nearly
make me spit out the glass of punch I had been nursing for the whole
night ( think a cartoonish double-take; there!). Thank God that it was
the end of the dance, the DJ was gone, & barely anyone was dancing
anymore. I wondered what would've happened if the DJ would have played it
for the folks there. Hmm.... I must say he did spin "The Freshmen"
earlier that night & ended up tossing the CD into the crowd. He must have
a lot of them. BTW, anyone know if a band gets royalties for being played
at a high school dance? Just wanted to know. I'm pretty sure that they
get it for being on a Muzak (TM) station.

Must have been a strange accident. Maybe the impact gave her cancer or
something. If this is true and can be proven, I'm offering up an autographed

I resubscribed to the Armchair partially so I can say this:
I HATE "BRICK"!!

I have heard it twice at Shopko, once at the supermarket, and once at Old
Country Buffet. Yes, I think it has reached the ranks of "Muzak"...

Does anybody else hate "Brick"?

I was actually looking forward to their being on SNL, but I was
disappointed along with my brother when they didn't get to play a second
song.

On a different note: I was looking at Billboard.com when I discovered that
WaEA has reached Gold status. I can't believe that it's all because of
"Brick"...

Hey, Summer.

I don't know if I'm repeating anyone whose already told the group, but
Ben and the gang will all be on The Tonight Show. Don't know what night.
Don't know with who (or whom). But it's THIS WEEK. Check your TV Guides,
kiddies.

Also, since "Brick" has attained the status of "airplay victim", I
thought of a fun way to jazz things up for us die hards the next time
we're in the car, the song comes on, and our best friend sqeels, "Ooo, I
love this song!!", followed by the ever-insulting, "Who are these guys?"

Listen to "Brick" and think Bill C. and Monica L. It made me smile.

Subject: DID ANYONE TAPE 120 MINS????

Hi, I've never posted anything before and have only been on the list for
about a month or so. BUT I am a huge BF5 fan, ever since, oh I don't know,
since "Underground" came out. Anyways, I really hate to make this my first
post but oh well, here it goes... I am so pissed off!!! Being a poor college
student and waitress on the side, I don't have cable. So I asked my friend
who is an RA for the freshman dorms at my school, if I could reserve the TV
in their rec room on Monday morning so I could tape 120 mins. She said fine,
because really, who watches TV at 2am on a Monday moring??? So we reserved it
on Friday, big sign and everything. I drive all the way over there, I live
off campus, on Sunday night wait around until about 1am. Then I was just too
tired and I had a voice lesson in the moring. So I set the tape and put a
very large sign on the TV telling people that I was taping. Next day, friend
brings me tape, we sit and watch it. Hmmmm what' s on it?? EVERYTHING BUT 120
MINS!!!!! Someone stopped it right at 2am, right when 120 mins was coming on!
All I have is two fucking hours of Run DMC videos, which, in their own right
are pretty entertaining, but still not BF5!!!!!!!!!!
Alright, sorry I'm not done. There's more. When they announced that
tickets for the Warfield show in San Fran, which is where I live, were on
sale, I was in LA. I got really crappy tickets. I sat behind four 13 year
old girls, who only knew one damn song, just guess, and when Robbie Fulks came
out, one of them asked me, "Hey, is that Ben Folds?"!!!! AHHHHHHHHHH Then,
after Brick, they got up and left!!! My God, I almoat had a heart attack!
These are the kind of people who listen to BF5 now! <SOB>
Damn, I'm sorry to got on and on, but I must add this last part. After the
show, I went around back to see if I could meet the guys. Right as Robert is
coming out, my friends, who I must admit, are "brick heads", Grab me and pull
me away, telling me that they're hungry and want to go! By the time I break
away, Robert is gone! "Do you know who that was!?" I asked, "who?" they say!
Urrrrrrrrrrrggggggggg!!!!!
Alright, alright, again I must apologize for the length of this post. But
I did have a point. Did ANYONE tape 120 mins on Sunday/Monday?? If you did
PLEASE PLEASE can I have a copy!??? I will pay for the tape of course and
anything else. But PLEASE take pitty on me!!! I have only seen one BF5 video
and that was the end of "Brick"!!!!! Please. <looking really pathetic now>
Thanks and sorry this was so long.

I didn't get to tape 120 minutes on Sunday on account of the fact that I
don't have cable. None of my friends could tape it either. Any help here?
I will pay for the tape, or if you want to trade, here's what I have:
4/?/97 - Jenny McCarthy
11/8/97 - Sessions at West 54th
11/10/97 - Brick premiere on 120 minutes
12/17/97 - Letterman
12/19/97 - MTV Live
1/10/98 - SNL

Roughly about an hour of stuff on 1 tape (I edited out everything else on
the shows when I copied them onto the tape). please help me if you can
copy videos.

hey guys...i was finally able to get a ticket for my girl...we were RIGHT in
front of ben...he kept talking to us all night...the rachel song came about
this way...it wasn't any one of their songs, impromptu or not...right after
the first song a girl to my left SHRIEKED DAMN LOUD...and ben goes
"DAMN"...and then later robert (mmmmmmmmmm he was sssoooooooooo hot =) said
"what's your name?"..."rachel"...and they tell her to try screaming again, and
then her friend heidi is asked to scream, and then robert starts singing
"rachel, they all love you rachel etc"...later on someone tossed a rose
onstage to ben but by the time he saw it all the petals had been torn
off...and then my girl asked the security person to get her one of the roses
that fell just short of the stage and she gave it to me =)...we didn't bother
staying after because there were just SOOOO many people still there and we had
been waiting for the past 12 hours for tix and then in line for a good
spot...we were done for...but it was the best concert i have ever been to,
period.

So they only played the entire videos of Brick and BWCCL fully and did a
little clip of Uncle Walter and One Angry Dwarf. They didnt seem very
talkative but i thought the most interesting comment was when Robert mostly
was talking about the fans they have. They were asked about how they felt
playing in bigger places and Robert explained how it just added to the radio
fans. He explained how they dont just want those fans and are always happy to
have long term fans that are familiar faces. thats cool to know they
appreciate us. ben just said he has bad vision and he cant see past the first
ten rows anyway. overall, it was alright, and i wish they would have let them
talk more. darren barely said anything, just that they got to pick what went
on NBP. oh well, hopefully they will get to talk and play on lenno wednesday
night cause they didnt enough last night

his speech about how they have always wanted their old fans to follow them
