The list was down for a few days because of a network upgrade at the

delayed by a couple hours now and then. You should have received issue

for that issue is Sunday, Mar. 1, 1998.

important he knew he was appreciated: after all, he was the first!
So danke schoen, Todd Harrington. I'll return the favor someday!
Second, has anyone heard about 'Fear Of Pop' lately? It was a hot thread
awhile back, but I haven't heard much about it lately...
Anyone?

i was wondering what everyone thinks here about the recent news of Ben's
(impending?) divorce from his once beloved Kate. i had really hoped that they
would stay together considering it was his third marriage and he musta been
pretty head over heels to write that song(plus, i might add, she is something
of a looker). it's weird feeling pity for one of your heroes. perhaps this
past tour has been the song's last hurrah and next time they tour(in
may/june)it will be notably absent from their setlists(but then, he isn't with
the "brick" girl anymore either). i might seem like an obsessive for asking
this, but i know their first date was on October 16, '95, but does anyone know
the wedding date(which i believe was in mid-96)? just curious.
dr.sexxy sexxy godzilla, who was relieved to get his first Armchair in nearly
a week.
p.s.it's also sad to hear that it seems that they have (temporarily?) retired
"jackson cannery." that is one great song.
p.p.s.to those of y'all who are fretting over missing the worthless 120
interview and the umpteenth tv performance of "brick":don't bother. spend your
time on getting copies of the conan performances of "battle" and "underground"
and the five songs they played on HBO2's "Reverb."(kate, battle, dumped,
philosophy, dwarf)

I'm hoping I won't get an angry post from someone on how they don't allow
it or whatever, cause those tapes would really make my day. I have a lot to
trade, including a little BFF (plus the obligatory Phish and Dead, and a
varied selection of other bands).

For jason, and his querry: I sing along to bff in my un-american
accent (i've got an american accent too). For example, i'll sing, "Hey
Summer, where ya been, eh?" just like those guys on great white north.
heh! Most of the time, ben has this real sutble sourthen accent going
that I just can't cop. With me the accent goes from bryan adams to
billy ray cyrrus, so I kind of have to sing along with a canadian
accent.
Related question: does anyone in a non-english speaking country
(expect for in japan, which we already know about) translate bff songs
to their mother tongue?

Re: the "Armchair Video"
I've already been working on this project for a few months, and have now
set up trades to nearly compleate my set. Everything but two things: The
Underground video, and their first TV appeirance, which was on Conan O'
Brian (1996), and they played "Underground." If anyone has those two
things, please let me know, I'm VERY willing to trade for them.
I'll be using a digital effects editor, and if there is enough time and I
can get clearance, I will use a video toaster graphics computer to put
graphics detailing the video clip's air date and whatnot right on the video
before each clip. And once the tape is compleate, I will be more then happy
to trade it to people. Anyone willing to contribute to this effort will get
a copy of the final product in exchange for their help.

Subject: Getting tired of Brick!
Dear all,
I Love Ben Folds, but personally I am a little tired of the hype behind
Brick. I like the song, but I don't like the fact that that it is the
only song they play on the radio and on TV by BFF. Also, it bugs me
that Brick is the only song that people associate with Ben Folds Five.
If you mention BFF, you have to say, "You know, the guys that have that
song, Brick" for them to comprehend what you're saying. They've
forgotton TBOWCCL that played last spring. I wish some of BFF's more
upbeat songs would get played, so we don't all get Bricked out. Also,
is there anyone out there from Purdue University? I'd love to see if
BFF could come play here, and maybe we could knock on some heads to see
if that could happen. Although I'm not sure they would be met with the
most enthusiastic crowd they've ever played for. For being such a large
school, Purdue seems to have an overwhelming populous of people with
thumbs up their a**es (that was for the mothers and children reading
this).
Sincerely,
Alan Brockman

This is about the guy who talked about the radio playing Brick, and all his
Spice girl friends. Don't feel bad about requesting it. As overplayed as it
is, it is still a beautiful song, and the more people that hear it, the more
to share the beauty of the music with. I say play it as much as possible on
as many Radio stations as possible. let Ben Folds be with everyone.

As you may have read in the digest header, there was a problem connecting
the majordomo server to the Internet over the last week. Some posts may
have been lost and it appears that a few people might not have received
every issue. Hopefully the problem is corrected now, so I'm told. Back
issues at the Magical Archive (http://oeonline.com/bff/list/) will be
updated over the next few days.
I also wanted to respond to some who have asked about a rumored show in
Texas later this month. I have been told by management that there are no
shows scheduled for March, so don't make any plans.
And Scott Schneider's FAQ can now also be found at
http://oeonline.com/bff/ if you are having trouble getting through to the
other sites.

Subject: "Homeboy's got some tricks!" [Keenan and KROQ]
An exact statement from a guy in the Keenan crowd (i.e. a guy that got
paid $10 to yell in the audience with no idea of who BFF is) who saw Rob
jam on his bass during Dumped--"I was about to leave this motherf--er
(Brick) but now I have to stay cuz Homeboy's got some tricks!" Other
favorites were "Break it down!" during Ben's piano solo. *Raise the
Roof*
Sorry this is a little late...
The Keenan show was a trip.
Didn't have to withstand the taping of the whole show...just Ben Folds
Five. Front row with Daniel and Courtney (Hi mom, I was on t.v.!)
Afterwards I gave Rob charcoal grey nailpolish and he said he liked
sniffing the stuff. I may be wrong but he said he shared nail polish
with Ben (or Darren?) but that Ben just doesn't wear it often enough. I
didn't understand what he was saying. Oh well, smile and nod.
I gave Ben this Belle and Sebastian import, the Lazy Line Painter Jane
EP that Daniel and I got for him, and he liked it alot. We had a whole
conversation about Belle and Sebastian. Interesting fact: BFF had not
only covered "Fox in the Snow" but also "Stars of Track and Field".
Evaporated--next tour!!! Then we were rudely interrupted by a screaming
girl saying how much she loved him and that being a musical theatre
major, he was a positive influence in her life and yada yada yada.
Which brings me to something I must explain. My question on KROQ: "I
noticed that you guys have toured with a wide array of bands--" (TRAVIS.
and Robbie Fulks) "--and I was wondering what other bands you'd like to
tour with." Then I added "Belle and Sebastian maybe? **smile**
Ben...?" I sounded like a complete moron saying that but in the context
of having a whole conversation about Belle and Sebastian the day before
with Ben...it makes better sense. See? It's like an inside joke...
Raising the roof for Courtney who got me and Daniel into Keenan and
getting us the tickets for Leno. Brant too.
So anyways 3 days with Ben Folds Five makes one very tired but very
happy.
I had to go see about 3 guys.
Janet.

So i've noticed the recent influx of Cannuck people on the list either
joining or revealing their Canadianism as of late, and i was wondering this:
just where are BFF fans from?
i know i've seen some from ireland, canada, england, OZ...and you KNOW
there's fans in japan, and then there's good ols Steffen "the tape God" in
germany.
anyway, let's get an official tally to sho whow dedicated fans are
throughout the world.
if you reside outside the continental US (any alaskan or hawaiian Helmet
Heads?) send me some e-mail that includes your
name
country/state/province
age
maybe something cool about yourself, or your "relationship" with BFF.
then once i get a ton of responses (because people DO respond. they DO!!)
i'll make a tally and post them.
sound fun?
fun!
