outside concert and even though it was like 30 dergrees outside, they still
rocked on for 2 hours. I was just wondering if any of ya'll know when they
are going to be in the South again. I would love to see the

The post about nail polish might not have been that interesting, but at
least it had something to do with BFF, unlike your own tirade, which was
completely inappropriate for the forum.

All have premiered on MTV's 120 Minutes, which the band has also hosted a

well as a videotape of their Chicago concert webcast a few weeks ago.

Please send responses to me directly at 777jet@bigfoot.com. Thanks.

Okay, I got a lot of compliments from folks in my mailbox today. Not that

Battle of Who Could Care Less video
One Angry Dwarf video
Brick video

That's it. I am still looking for the ArOhVee show, WEAEA commcercial,
Good Morning America appearance, anything from overseas (ESPECIALLY the
Mid-Day show!), & whatever else you have that isn't on the list. Also, a
lot of people are confused about getting the tape. I AM NOT TRADING
THIS!!!! I will charge the price of a video & shipping (most likely $6),
& that is all. I don't have anything to gain from this except a tape or
two full of Ben Folds Five appearances.

Subject: BF5 in Virginia

Hi! I just got back into town after going to the show in Virginia Beach. Of
course, it was awesome! The doors were supposed to open at 7, but they didn't
open until 8, and there was a line of freezing fans wrapped around the club.
The tour bus was parked right along side us, and around 7:30 Ben came out and
went into the bus. I think it took people a second to realize that it was him,
because as soon as he went inside the bus, people started whispering, then
when he came out, everyone shut up. I was impressed that everyone maintained
their composure and did not scream or attack him, or even approach him
inappropriately. When he did exit the bus, he crossed over around the back of
the bus, I noticed.

Anyway, the show was great. They played at high speed. I managed to tape the
show, so if anyone is interested, I will trade. I am looking for the Loveline
show, or video of 120 mins (both appearances) or video of Much Music. If you
don't have anything, I will trade 2:1 blank tapes plus mailer and postage. E-
mail me if you are interested.

After the show, those that were patient enough to wait were rewarded by
meeting the band. I also got to meet the ubiquitous Sandi Shorter (Hi,
Sandy!), who informed me that this was her 20th show. Right on! Darren had to
go meet his girlfriend or something, but Robert and Ben stayed for a good
30-45 minutes signing autographs, posing for pictures and chatting with their
fans. I know everyone says this, but it deserves repeating. They really do
care about their fans. Robert and Ben couldn't have been nicer to us. I hope
they never lose those qualities.

Feel free to e-mail me if you want to chat more on these subjects.

Subject: Breakfast with BFF

yes, i was one of the lucky few who got to see them play at 9:30 friday
morning in the intimate setting of a comfy family restaurant in burbank, ca.
after waiting outside for an hour or so in the freezing codl(yes, la can be
cold), they let us in like 5 at a time. darren was casually practicing on the
makeshift stage as people were just sitting around waiting for the show to
start. ben and robert walked in and out, and nobody really freaked out or
anything like i thought they would. my sister just walked up to ben and
started talking and he was so sweet and invited her onto the stage to take a
picture with him but then the security people freaked out and wouldn't let
her. i got to ask them a question on the air(it was a radio broadcast, btw).
i was the one who asked what the weirdest question they'd ever been asked was.
in an attempt to craftily make fun of the stupid questions other people were
asking, i just made an idiot out of myself. the band smiled anyway. they
played and talked and were amazing and hysterical. i made my way up to right
in front of them, and one of the kroq guys let me sit in the booth with him.
afterwards, i had to run and when i walked outside, darren and robert were
just sitting and having a smoke behind the building and no one was really
around them. i walked up and chatted and they were really nice and we took
pictures with them. i told them they were great and all that stuff and they
were so humble, so sweet. anyways, since i was there i couldn't tape the
radio broadcast, so if anyone has it and wants to trade, e-mail me and we'll
discuss. that's all...sorry so long...

Hey i've read that a cuple people thought the guys looked great on Leno &
Kenan, but here's my opinion- they looked rather tired. Seriously, Ben
looked like he was going to fall asleep. i don't know if it was the
relentless touring or the gawd-awful slownedd of "brick" but he definitely
looked dragged. I don't really know about rob and Darren, because they
hardly were shown!

Well, at least that explains why it seemed to be taking forever to get
the next armchair. =)
Umm, let's see, to add some on topic content...somebody said a while ago
that the key to showing that you are a true fan of Ben Folds is to bring
others into the Fold (ba-dum-ching) and so I guess I now qualify, as I
have slowly started to get converts here at school, with one of my
friends being completely converted, one friend nearly there, and one
friend I'm working on. My number 1 rule: show them how cool BFF is
outside of the realm of Brick. It works quite well.

Subject: Sexy sexy sexy Godzilla. Or: 3 days of fun with the Five!

So I've been on a BFF binge this week.

WEDNESDAY: we went to see them on the Tonight Show. It was cool..but it
was pretty much like watching it at home, but in a much bigger room. But
it was pretty neat that Jaybrought them on over to teh couch to sit
after their song. even though they didn't talk.

THURSDAY: we went to see them on the Keenen Ivory Wayans show and it was
cool because it was only about 40 people and wewere right in front. They
played brick and Dumped, but obviously Dumped din't make it to the air.
It was still cool. And after they played we got to hang out and chat
with Ben and Rob. Darren hightailed it outta the studio pretty quickly:(
I asked Robert if they're ever going to put Kalamazoo on an album. He
said no, but that he really liked that song a lot. And Ben said that
they would probably play Evaporated on the next tour. Yay!

Today (FRIDAY): saw them at Dalts in burbank for Breakfast with KROQ,
which was pretty darn kickass. and Ben and Rob remembered us from
yesterday. yay. And mucho thanks to Joe for giving me and Janet Darren's
drum sticks.
I loved the Godzilla song..I can't believe they're doing a song for the
movie. And their little "Sister Christian" cover was great.

Janet gets MAD props for driving me around, as does Larry. Thanks you
guys! You are great!

well I have thouroughly enjoyed my self these past 3 days and i hope
they do all this neat stuff again next time they're here.
This has been a pretty kickass week. i had a band on my show on
tuesday, I won Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's new CD on wednesday, BBVD played
here on campus on wednesday and 3 days of Ben, Robert and Darren in
person..i felt like i was following the Dead. But in a good way:)

Enough outta me.

hey everyone,

the d.c. show was my second bff show (my first being another show in d.c.
in georgetown) and it was still great, though this time ben didn't get up
on the piano and dance and pose and stuff. i had a good spot in the
crowd..third row towards the left.

my friends and i were standing around
before the show and we could hear the band doing soundcheck when darren
came out the back looking for his girlfriend. she wasn't there yet, but
we got to talk to him for a little while. he told us about the opening
band and then went back inside. later on he kept coming back outside and
finally his girlfriend showed up...she's really cute and thin like darren.
then we said hi to the opening band as they walked in.

after the show we got to meet the band. darren wasnt there but i didn't
mind because i got to meet him before the show. ben and robert are
incredibly nice guys. the whole band kicks ass in every aspect.

to that guy who posted about the d.c. show and sandi: hi! my best
friend, ben, was the one who got sandi's extra ticket...and i don't know
if you remember but i was the one who saw robert with you when he layed
down behind the piano when robbie fulks was onstage. we were all clumped
together in that one spot in the crowd.

Subject: Nail Polish

In a message dated 98-03-02 13:48:53 EST, you write:

<< Was Robert wearing silver nailpolish on
one hand? Or was I seeing things? Anyway, what might be a good idea is a
list of all the colors he's worn? I only know that he's worn Mauve, Blue and
Black, but that's all I know. Wish Ben would wear some one day >>

Am I the only one scared by the above post? OK, show of hands, how many of
your lives would be brighter if Ben Folds wore nail polish. Nothing against
nail polish, but jeez - who cares?! Get a life already.

Too bad there's not a way to separate the posts into two parts - interesting
discussions about the music - and nonsense and drivel from people who actually
care what color nailpolish the band wears - or worse, these people who cry
when they lose the copy they made of the band performing Brick for the
bazillionth time. No, you're not just sensitive - you need to get a LIFE!

Sorry - I'm in a bad mood today and I'm tired of having to spend 30 minutes
going through these posts to find only 5 minutes of interesting reading.

Subject: Question for the Out-of-USA-ers.

Heya. Well, this occured to me late last night while my mind was wandering
aimlessly on its way to that dreamy place in the sky..

When people from another country sing BFF to themselves, do they sing in an
American accent, or their native accent?

Why i wonder this, i'm not too sure. I probably should be less inquisitive..
it'll save me some embarrasment later on. But, just wondering..
