I was wondering,

Do you have the lyrics to the songs on "Naked Baby Photos" posted on your
site?
and/or
Do you have the meanings (according to the band or yourself) of BF5 songs
posted on your site?

If you have either of the above, please e-mail ME the address of your web

For what it's worth, my band has been playing Jackson Cannery, even though
the boys have cut it off the setlist. Frankly, with the aggressive tour
schedule they've had, I'm surprised they're not sick of most of their
material, particularly Brick. I gotta wonder though...do they ever sing
along to themselves on the radio? Somehow, I doubt it...

Ben has said that they only want to cover songs that are somewhat a
stretch for their instrumentation and sound...so what about "Sir Duke" by
Stevie Wonder? Heavy duty hornline, and I believe the piano is electric.
For those of y'all who don't know it by name, it's the one that goes...

When I, a big fat yankee, sing along with Ben I try to emulate his southern
pronounciations. Kind of like how when I sing along with Cibo Matto I try
to pretend I have a Japanese accent, and when I sing along with Blur and
Pulp I try to pretend I have a British accent. It's FUN!

Okay. I tried posting about a week or so ago about this, but it didn't go
through, so here it is again:

Hey. It's that "Steve!" kid again with another informative & lovingly
illustrated post. To my suprise, when I made my daily check of my Juno
E-mail account (it's free, so I can do it every day! HAHAHAHA!!!!! And so
on.....), I had a shitload of responses to my plea for 120 minutes & some
pleas for the stuff I have on tape. So many, and I know how you folks
like watching Ben Folds on the TV screen. Sure, gives you a nice, warm,
fuzzy feelin'..... Anyhoo, I know that everyone needs SOMETHING for their
collection, so I figure "Hey! Why don't we make a master tape of all the
Ben Folds Five stuff we can get our dirty little mitts on & distribute it
over the Armchair?!?". What a plan indeed. So, I need some comments on
this idea. Here's what I have already:
6/10/97 - Jenny McCarthy
11/8/97 - Sessions@ W.54th
11/10/97 - Brick premiere
12/17/97 - Letterman
12/19/97 - MTV Live
1/10/98 - SNL
1/?/98 - VH1 Crossroads (soon)
2/22/98 - 120 minutes (soon)
2/25/97 - Leno
2/26/98 - Keenan

Roughly 80 minutes. So, I am looking for contributions & comments.
Anything you have of Ben Folds Five on video that I don't, I'm looking
for it. Especially non-Brick stuff (I already have all 8 or so
performances on tape & damned if I need another!) Please e-mail me with
what you have & I'll figure out if I can use it (chances are, I can) &
I'll fill everyone in when that's all set. Good idea?

*HEY..... IT'S*
Steve!

Okay Okay, I did a really bad thing yesterday night. My friends made me
ring up the local radio station 'Power Fm' which is unfortunately a
commercial station. Since they are regulars I told the girl Sally who my
friends were and then she asked what type of music I am in too (cos my
friends, well one is obsessed with Hanson and the other, the spice
girls) so I said well ben Folds five and she's like who? And I said they
are alternative and she said that they probably wouldn't play it cos it
ain't in the chart, then stupid me had to mention Brick and say how
popular it is in America and that it's in the charts, played everywhere
and everything. Then she said she'd write it down and look to see if
they have it.

Then about 15 mins left into the show the guy Skip goes, "good news,
we're playing Brick!" And I'm like WHAT?! then sally said that I
requested it and the guy said he's been waiting for someone to request
it for a few days and said I saved their day. And then he said "thank
you Julie for requesting Brick, Finally some new music" Plus he said "it
goes off" now how does brick go off, then at the end of the show they
said they run out of time, and couldn't play it and said they'd play it
tomorrow and the talked about it for at least 2 minutes. Saying what I
said, and how it's good and apparantly in the hot 100 ???????? and said
"tomorrow on Skip's hot 20 (i hear you sigh) Brick for Julie and
everyone else" then my spice girls loving friend rang, to make sure I
heard it. And now I'm regretting it. I'm the first person to ever
request bff on power fm. WHAT HAPPENS IF EVERYONE LIKES IT!!??

Damn me, damn them

I'm feeling very low so please leave me alone for at least a few hours.

~Anti-Gavin (regretting the entire day of yestreday

"Well Damn them" Robert about (guess who) BU$H!!!!!!! (Robert's a
legend, robert's a legend, and less than one week till his birthday!!)

"Well now everyone can blame you if they get popular here" my stupid
friend

P.S - I had the coolest dream, not about bff, well sorta, but about us
armcharite's all meeting togather. And believe me, it was packed! And
Frank wouldn't reveal what he looked like! :) ARE THEY REALLY IN THE
HOT 100?? (I'm talking bout brick here)

Well, here I am again with the deal from the Washington DC show on Sunday.
The trip from NJ was a blast, and my friend Matt and I got to The 9:30 Club
about 45 minutes before the doors opened. It didn't look like we had that
great a spot in line, but by the time we got inside we managed to run right
up to the railing on the left side. We were second row, and in prime
position, because the stage was only about 3 feet high with no "pit" for the
security guards. Robbie Fulks opened, and got a much better reception than
he did in NYC or Philly. By this time I had most of the songs down and
there was a lot less booing and the like. I guess their popularity was
proportional to how far south we were.

While waiting for the show to start I saw the same girl whose forehead Ben
was writing on the night before in Philadelphia, so I said hi. It turned
out to be the infamous Sandi (from the Armchair), and I found out she came
all the way from Ohio. So there was someone who traveled even farther than
I did. The show was great, and I was closer to the stage than I was for any
other show on the tour. The only set changes were that Ben Folds Five
played Tom & Mary (by Sandi's request the night before) and Underground
(they didn't play it in PA.) There was no Julianne, and no Jackson Cannery
for the second night in a row. I managed to get an "official" set list,
which was a joke because it really didn't have much to do with what they
actually played (Best Imitation of Myself was on it, would have been nice to
see.) After the show we went to the Meet and Greet with Sandi and I got to
talk to the guys again. Darren took off early as usual, but I spoke with
Robert for awhile. He mentioned that he had been interviewed for Bass
Player magazine, and said that they weren't playing Jackson Cannery lately
because he didn't want to. He said, "It's a great song, it's just had it's
time, that's all." That made sense, seeing as how it was the first single,
so no big deal. But still, no Where's Summer B.??
I thought it was amazing what cool guys Ben & Robert are. Even though there
were over 40 or so people around, they took the time to talk with everyone.
Darren seems a bit shy but hey, aren't we all at times? I got to talk with
(tour manager) Doug a bit, but he doesn't give autographs. Oh well. Look
for a review and setlist of the VA Beach show in another Armchair, along
with a killer story about meeting Ben Folds Five. I hope you're reading!
